Chapter 8: Chapter 8
Islas' blood ran cold at his words. She gripped the frail fabric of her clothes tightly in her hands, her mind shutting down for a brief second.
"I… What are you talking about?" She stuttered, her voice trembling as she tried to calm herself down.
Marcus's expression darkened with anger before his lips curled up in a sinister smirk. "Don't you dare lie to me, girl" he said in a dangerously low voice, his voice echoing slightly in the empty corridor. "I know what you're hiding"
Islas breath hitched, her mind racing thinking of what to say. *How did he find out so fast?* She bit the inside of her cheeks tightly until she tasted blood in her mouth. She felt tears well up in eyes and she tried to will herself not to cry.
"I-I really don't know what you're talking about," she stammered, shaking her head as she spoke. "I have—"
"How dare you lie to my face?" Marcus thundered, cutting her off while taking a step closer to her,his towering stature making her seem even smaller than she already was. "Do you think anything will happen in my pack without my notice?"
Isla took a few small steps back bumping into a flower pot behind her. "I have no idea what you're talking about," she insisted, trying to keep a steady voice.
Marcus slammed his hand and the wall close to her face, making her jump. "Silence! Not another lie from you" he growled, his dark yellow eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. "You're pregnant for my son, right?"
Isla knew he wasn't asking a question but rather making a statement. Her stomach twisted painfully. She opened her mouth to deny his words and say that she wasn't but no words came out.
"Do you realize what complications this will cause for me?" Marcus continued, his voice boiling with anger. "An omega trying to taint an alpha's blood?"
She shook her head, tears rolling down her cheeks as she stared at him in fear. "I…I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice cracking. "I didn't know it'll end this way, I never asked for this "
Marcus leaned in slowly, gripping her face tightly in his palm. "Good! Because you'll fix this mess" he said coldly, staring at her stomach with disgust. "You'll make sure this doesn't get out"
Isla couldn't move her head because of how tight he held her. She knew what his words implied. "What…No!"
"No? No? You'll get rid of that baby" he said with finality. "and you'll do it quietly. Discreetly. Make sure no one hears about this"
"I'll not," she said in a whispered voice shaking her head. "I can't do it"
"Oh you will, I'm not giving you a choice here" Marcus snapped. "What I've been through to get here is bigger than you and you'll not ruin it"
"I'm not killing my child," Isla said in a wavering but defiant voice, her hands trembling harshly by her sides.
A dark expression crossed Marcus's face and for a moment she thought he was going to hit her. Instead,he took a deep breath, straightening his posture and stared at her with a cold and calculating gaze.
"You think you can outsmart me, right?" He said. "Fine. Since you don't want to do it, I'll help you with that"
Islas' breath hitched in her throat at the threat. "You can't do—"
"You don't know what I'm capable of doing" Marcus interrupted. "I should have gotten rid of you while I had the chance. Handle your situation or I'll be forced to"
Without waiting for another word from her,he turned walking away from her,his footsteps echoing down the corridor. Isla stood frozen watching his retreating figure.
When he was finally out of sight, she sank to the floor, her body shaking uncontrollably. Her hand moved to her stomach instinctively as tears streamed down her face. *What am I going to do?*
She knew that her life was in danger and Marcus wasn't bluffing.

Later That Night ,
Isla sat quietly close to the window in her room, her gaze fixed on the woods ahead. Her bag rested on her bed half packed tempting her to continue. She had planned to leave after she returned from the pack house but she couldn't gather the courage to do so.
She rubbed her stomach again,a small smile tugging at her lips. She's been through so much and she didn't want to let anyone hurt her child. She'll save her child.
A knock at the door startled her, pulling her from her thoughts. She wiped her tears away before walking to the door and opening to find Mira standing behind it with a look of concern on her face.
"Do you really want to do this?" Mira said in a soft voice, stepping in and closing the door behind her. "Following the alpha's order might just be the easiest way out of this"
"I've never been so sure about anything," Isla said. "I'll not kill my child. I'll leave."
Mira nodded her head understandably,a grim expression on her face. "I just want you to know that I'll always be here for you"
Isla nodded before enveloping Mira in a warm and comforting hug.
The half moon shone brightly in the sky casting a pale glow over the forest. Mira helped Isla pack her remaining belongings in a satchel. They worked silently enjoying the comforting silence between them.
"I packed some food for you, I don't know how long it'll last," Mira said in a low voice, scared that someone might overhear them. "It should be enough to help you survive till you get far away from the packs territory"
A sad smile played on Islas face as she folded the last of her clothes into her bag. "I'll be miss you"
"I'll miss you too," Mira replied, her eyes welling up with tears. "always remember that you're surviving for two now, don't let your doubts stop you"
They walked towards the back of the cottage, Isla's heart pounding harshly in her chest like a drum. "There's a straight path through the left of that big tree over there which will lead you to the unguarded border of the pack. Make sure you avoid the main roads, it's guarded by warriors "
"Thank you ," Isla said, her voice spilling with emotions. "Thank you for always being there for me"
Mira pulled her into a quick, tight hug holding her for a few minutes. "Hurry child. Go!" she said, pushing her gently toward the woods.
———
Isla moved quietly through the trees, her bag hanging over her left shoulder. The forest looked like one big maze to her. She has never been to this side of the forest. Every sound made her heart leap into her throat.
After walking for hours, the borders finally came into sight. She felt hope bloom in her chest. She knew crossing the border would mean she'll not be a part of the pack but a rogue wolf—an enemy of the pack, but she didn't care.
Her hope quickly diminished when a knife flew at her, missing her with just a little space. She stared wide eyes at the dark before spinning around and running, her breath coming out in ragged gasp as fear coursed through her blood.
Suddenly,a strong hand held her pulling her to a halt. She struggled against the captor's hold until she felt a needle pierce her skin.
"You're very predictable," she heard a voice say in front of her before darkness clouded her vision and she lay limp in the captor's hands.
