The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 252- Devil's Triangle (3)

"Why would they do this? When we came to Solaris using this ship, they were so friendly and outgoing with us".

By now, everyone had realised that they were set for a trap.

"Commander, what should we do?" his squad called out to him.

Just as Reinhardt was making a plan, his senses picked up something, and he alerted everyone.

"Heads up!!"

Through the thick fog, vague silhouettes with faint light could be seen approaching. When they were quite close, everyone was finally able to see what they were.

Skull and crossbones, the jolly roger they flew, told others their identity. That's right, the silhouettes were pirate ships. What's more, there were not just one or two of them; at a glance, there were more than a dozen.

All of them surrounded their ship without approaching too close. Then, a second later, a bright flash appeared from one of the pirate ships and hit theirs.

BOOM… the knights trained to handle any situation, fought to find their balance. However, they were not surrounded by just one ship. Soon, bright flashes appeared from all the other pirate ships, and a large part of their ship was destroyed.

Reinhardt deflected a few with his bare hands while his knights and the order of the Emerald also did what they could. However, even if they could protect the deck, the other areas of the ship was completely exposed.

BANG… BANG… splinters and wood flew everywhere. At this rate, their ship would sink.

Seeing that they were not doing well, Reinhardt was about to up his game, when from the corner of his eyes he saw Jerrel running towards the enemy pirate ships at a ridiculous speed.

A greenish aura enveloped him, and he was walking on these green chains that he made using his skill.

"Sir Reinhardt, I leave the ship's protection to you." Saying that, the knight disappeared into the fog.

A couple of seconds later, the enemy ships started exploding one after another. Seeing this, Reinhardt retracted his outstretched hands. It looks like it was not his time to shine.

With Jerrel going over there, there was no longer a need to worry about the pirate ships. In that case, he could focus on shielding the ship.

BOOM… BOOM… BOOM… another volley of cannons was fired and headed for their ship. However, this time before they could hit, a golden pillar of fire enveloped the ship, burning every and all attack into ashes the moment it touched those flames.

[Aegis of the Eternal Flame]- Description: Summons an impenetrable shield of golden flames that surrounds the divine paladin and his allies. Use: Protects from all damage for a limited duration, burns all attacks and enemies that approach.

Thanks to this skill, no more harm came to the ship. That said, maybe because this was the sea and the skill also perceived the water as an attack, the flame column vaporised the water around them, releasing thick steam.

This was dangerous. While he was not worried about the sea drying up anytime soon, the golden flames burned so hot that he was worried that they would boil the waters around here, disturbing the marine ecosystem.

Thankfully, Jerrel finished off the pirates before he would have to worry about that.

Seeing that there was no longer any need to put up the Eternal Flame, he deactivated the skill. Whoosh… at that instant, the water that was superheated in an instant met the cold waters, and the resultant effect was…

Numerous large geysers shot towards the sky in a grand display of power.

"W-What was that skill? I have never seen the boss use that before."

Vangeance was struck wide eyed at the awesomeness of the skill. To be able to create such a terrifying natural phenomenon, what kind of skill was that?

Of course, it was not just him, the order of the Emerald were similarly stunned too as they looked at the man who made it possible with fear and respect. That was a level 10 hero for you, a knight who has surpassed the realm of superhumans.

"Hehe, Gwen and I have seen this skill of Commander before too." Kevin proudly rubbed his nose almost in a manner as if Reinhardt's accomplishment was his own.

"What?! When did you see that?" Vangeance in jealousy, grabbed the collar of the boy and pulled him up.

"Eh? Uhm, it was during the time when we sieged the city after the demi humans from our territory were kidnapped by Baron Chetak" The boy answered in panic.

"Tch, did you hear that. I missed Boss' awesomeness back then all due to you." He released Kevin and directed his frustration at Silvia, who duly ignored him.

Soon, all the enemy pirate ships were sunk and Jerrel returned back safe and sound. That's a level 9 knight for you, even when on a disadvantageous terrain, there was nothing that could faze them.

"Sir Reinhardt, you have gratitude. Thanks to you protecting the ship, my comrades are alright".

"Don't fret about it, I was also protecting my own comrades and the ship".

"I see," the two knights had become good friends by now. Reinhardt could see that the man named Jerrel was not a bad person. He was chivalrous, valiant and honest, qualities that made him reach the realm that he is in right now.

With the pirates gone, peace returned to the sea, or so he would have wanted; however, as a being who had surpassed the realm of heroes and stepped into the divine, he could feel that something was still wrong.

The danger was not averted; in fact, there was never any change in it, even after the pirate ships were all sunk.

"Say, Sir Jerrel, is the Devil Triangle's mysterious disappearance related to the pirates?"

The latter was unable to answer as this was also his first time entering such a place. Just as Reinhardt was wondering what might be the reason behind the place being called what it was, the reason appeared before him on its own.
