Chapter 251- Devil's Triangle (2)
"I am in this garb to make them loosen their guard".
"Oh? Are you trying to wring out information from them? Then count me in.. barf" Vangeane was all excited and ready to do this. However, being ready and being seasick were two different things.
Silvia sighed exaggeratedly. She waited patiently for the other sailor in the distance to move away. Just when they were gone, she approached the sailor who was keeping an eye on them.
"Hello, mister sailor. This is quite a splendid ship, does it belong to your captain?"
The sailor who was pretending to mind his own business, was shocked by the girl suddenly approaching him. It needs to be mentioned that even though petite, Silvia was quite a beauty.
The sailor who was called out, fell for her beauty and started opening up to her.
"Haha, i-indeed it's a splendid ship; however, it does not belong to us. It's a pity."
A pity? Silvia noticed some unusual words in his sentence.
"Then who does it belong to? The knights?"
"Of course not, it belongs to the chairman of the Marine guild. The knights do not know the true splendidness of this ship".
Chairman, Marine Guild, and the hidden sadness within the voice of the sailor. There was a lot to process.
The time was starting to approach evening. At this moment, before Silvia could succeed with her attempt to draw more information from the sailor, he was called out by his captain.
"Please excuse me, I need this guy for a minute". Saying that, the two disappeared from sight.
"Tch, looks like that captain has a good head on his shoulder. He must have realised my intentions." Silvia clicked her tongue in annoyance. She was so close to drawing the crucial information from the sailor.
"Well, it cannot be helped. The sailor must not have been too fond of your body. Perhaps if it was Miss Delicia, then maybe we could have already gotten all the information… gugh" before the knight could complete his sentence, another punch came digging into his guts.
"Speak like that and I'll kill you," Silvia spat before storming inside the cabin.
.
Time passed by, Reinhardt who was busy looking at a sea chart, suddenly felt something off. Using his senses to scan the ship, he immediately realised where this feeling was coming from.
The sailors and the captain who should be manning the ship, were no longer on board. They had at some point escaped using a sailboat.
"Why would they do that now?"
They were quite far away from the land, and all around them was just sea. Using a sailboat here was like giving up on their own life.
Reinhardt came out on the deck. A few minutes later, feeling something amiss but unable to pinpoint it, the Commander of the Order of the Emerald also walked out to the deck.
"What's going on? Where are all the sailors?" he questioned one of his knights walking beside him.
"Ah, I'll go and check immediately." That subordinate was just about to walk away when Reinhardt's following words stopped him.
"Don't bother, the sailors are no longer on the ship".
His words caused Jerrel and his knights to look at him; their expression showed confusion written all over their faces.
With [Eyes of the Divine Clarity] activated, Reinahrdt judged that they were not lying. The Order of the Emerald was indeed clueless about all of this.
"They escaped through a sailboat, a while ago." He looked around, trying to find clues to understand their motive. Soon, his eyes landed on the sea chart in the captain's cabin, and he immediately understood what was going on thanks to his skill.
That said, it was a little too late. The moment they boarded the ship, they were fated to fall for the trap.
"What's wrong, Sir Reinhardt? Did you find anything?"
Earlier, Jerrel had ordered his knights to search for the sailors. Soon, it became confirmed that the sailors were indeed not on board.
"You came with the same boat to Solaris, right? Do you remember the route?" Reinhardt suddenly questioned.
The commander of the Emerald thought hard for a second before shaking his head.
"It's all sea and the same scenery around here, so it's very difficult to say that it's the same route or not. But why is Sir Reinhardt asking that?"
At that question, the latter pointed at the sea chart. While he was no sailor and had no experience in the nautical aspect, using the [Eyes of Divine Clarity], he could still tell that they had deviated from the path to Rune and were heading for a different route.
He looked at the sea chart, charted some course, and soon it became apparent to him where they were heading.
"The Devil's Triangle".
"What?" Jerrel, who heard him mutter those words, opened his eyes wide in surprise.
"Sir Reinhardt, are you sure we are headed there?"
The latter nodded, heading or not, they were already there. Suddenly, dark grey storm clouds appeared out of nowhere, and the sea became violent. Rain started falling, and the boat rocked hard.
Alarmed, everyone came out of their cabin to check on what was going on. Immediately, they were surprised to see the sudden change in the atmosphere.
"Commander, what's going on?" Vangeacne, Gerard, and everyone looked at him. However, he did not answer. Instead, he looked at the Commander of Emeralds, whose eyes were extremely grave at this moment.
"If this place is really the Devil's Triangle, then it's very bad. Not only hundreds of ships disappear in this place every year, but thanks to the ever changing current and weather, it is very difficult to navigate one's way out of this place".
So it was kind of like a mysterious region causing unexpected disappearances. No wonder the sailors left using the sailboat. It was because they knew if they stayed on the ship, they were destined for doom.
They would rather take their chances at sea than on the Devil's Triangle.
