Chapter 140: CHARADE IS OVER
In the middle of a luxurious dining room, everyone had a surprised expression on their faces; some even looked shocked.
Right now the only thought floating in the minds of everyone is, what the hell did this youngster say?
As calm as a mountain with a neutral face, Mr. Rowan gave this insignificant youngster a stern look.
Mr. Rowan: "Is there a problem, Lady Theodora? I believe everyone got what they wanted."
His tone of voice held disdain for the nameless youngster as he voiced his question to the lady, who was equally shocked yet maintaining her poker face as best as she could.
The only party who truly showed their feelings on their faces was the host party; the Lontons' displeasure could be clearly seen on their faces, especially the ancestor who felt as if he had been cursed to die when he had only just grasped life.
Theodora turned her head and gave Alan a look; she did not answer Mr. Rowan, but with a grace she only said one word towards Alan.
Theodora: "talk"
Alan: "As you wish, my lady. The exchange is built on the exchange of benefits. Our side has got what we wanted, but I can't say the same to the elder hosting this feast. I believe you know what I'm talking about, Mr. Rowan."
The calm, nonchalant attitude of the boy surprised everyone inside the room.
Mr. Lonton: "Can you speak clearly, youngster? What do you…."
Before Master Lonton could speak, the ancestor raised his hand, cutting him off, as a flash of light reflecting wisdom forged over a long time and many life-and-death situations.
Ancestor Lonton did not even look at Mr. Rowan. He immediately turned his eyes toward his old friend, who confirmed the transaction. He was the one who conducted the test on the vitality treasure. He was also the one who informed him about his health.
The old man right now felt that he was a few centuries younger, with overflowing vitality, but a seed of doubt was planted in his heart the moment the youngster talked.
On the other end of the table, though, Mr. Rowan kept his calm. The same can't be said for his two assistants; Mr. Wilkins especially had a terrifying life in his eyes as if he was ready to kill everyone inside this room at any moment.
Ancestor: "What do you say, old friend? Has the deal truly been done? And what do you say, Mr. Rowan?"
Mr. Rowan: "A kid's nonsense is all I'm seeing right now. You have confirmed the effectiveness of the vitality worm yourself, ancestor. I feel like I'm being slandered right now. Even the evolution master himself confirmed everything."
Mr. Rowan turned to look at the nonchalant Alan, who was enjoying the steak in front of him.
Mr. Rowan: "What is your objective here, kid? Lady Theodora, this is a blatant insult to have a servant of yours talk wildly like this."
Theodora was not a flower in a vase, so she immediately wanted to reply to Mr. Rowan, but before she could do so, Alan himself felt insulted.
Alan: "Ahh, you might be confused, but I'm not her so-called servant. As for the scam that you have pulled together with this evolution master trying to convince the ancestor that he is healed, well, I have to say, well done. It might have worked if I wasn't here. How much does the ancestor have left, Mr. Rowan? I would say a week, maybe two."
The fork stopped mid-air right before Mr. Rowan's mouth as his facial expression changed, but the one who was most shocked was the evolution master, who stood up in a hurry, throwing the chair back.
Alan: "Frankly, there is no reason for me to even interfere in your little charade; after all, my temporary employer has already got what she wanted. But everything changed when I finally touched that little red stone of yours, Mr. Rowan.
Now that was an interesting artifact. Don't you agree with me?"
Theodore frowned immediately, as she knew that even her family could not decipher the origin of that redstone. Even if they defined the properties of the said stone, nobody could tell what it can be used for or what it is in the first place.
She could not believe her ears; this young man actually managed to find the truth about that sinister Stone.
Ancestor: "Young man, you seem sure of yourself. You can tell that my body is not fully healed, and I can't?"What I want to hear is your response, Mr. Rowan. Is this a young man making a fool of himself, or have we, the Lontons, fallen for this charade of yours? Why don't you sit down, old friend? I might be a dying man, but you are in my den now; act accordingly!!"
Mr. Rowan did not even give the old man a single look as he fixated on the youngster; both of his assistants did so too.
Mr. Rowan: "Young man, you said you know what this stone is. Can you enlighten us?"
Alan: "I wouldn't call it enlightenment; you are asking a question you know the answer to.
Mmmmm, let me see, you want to know what I know before you kill everyone inside this room, right?"
Everyone had shocked expressions on their faces.
Mr. Lonton: "As if they could."
Alan: "This is where you are mistaken, Mr. Lonton. Oh, they can. Even if the ancestor were to try and stop them, these three are extremely powerful; their disguise is brilliant. Even the seasoned ancestor could not see through them."
Mr. Wilkins: "Hahahahahahahaha, Boss, there is no need to play house with them anymore; this youngster has seen through us. Let me ask you, boy, Knowing what you know, why are you so calm? I really want to know if this is courage or foolishness, or do you have something on you that absolutely guarantees your survival today?"
Mr. Wilkins finally had enough as a bloodthirsty roar exploded throughout the room. The ancestor immediately tried to counter, but the moment he tried to use his newfound vitality, he almost collapsed, coughing blood as if he had suffered a backlash.
Mr. Rowan: "Huh, I truly wanted to get out of here peacefully without making any big waves. Sigh…"
Everyone who was hit by Mr. Wilkins's aura felt a chilling sensation drowning them, but when Mr. Rowan talked, they truly felt the difference between drowning in a pool and drowning in an ocean.
Theodora had tried her best to maintain her calm, gently touching the bracelet on her hand, yet Lana was not as lucky; she passed out immediately.
Mr. Lonton tried to help his ancestor, yet after being hit by two massive auras, he found himself unable to move a finger.
With everyone paralyzed, The sound of a knife cutting the steak, which was bizarre, pulled everyone's attention.
Both Mr. Rowan and Mr. Wilkins were shocked to see the youngster eating with no care in the world, completely weathering their intimidating aura.
Both of them try to measure the youngster, but what creeps both of them out is that the youngster looks like a mortal with no cultivation at all.
Alan: "Yeah, this is a fine steak, ancestor. I'm lucky to sample such delicious food today. As for your question, Mr. Wilkins…"
While wiping his mouth, he turned his head, looking at the two men who were extremely powerful yet with stupified expressions on their faces.
Alan: "Did you truly receive your precious Redstone!!!"
Panic finally got to the calm and collected Mr. Rowan as he immediately took out the redstone, observing it and scanning it like a madman.
Mr. Wilkins and his brother did not fare any better as they waited nervously for their boss.
Mr. Rowan: "This…this…"
Alan: "You can't tell, can you, whether the stone in your hand is what you three wanted or, to be exact, the people or the organization behind you desired. Now, who is in trouble? , us who are weaker than you, or you who might disappoint your leaders. Looking at the three of you, I doubt you came from a very forgiving place. Why don't we play a game to decide what will happen next?"
Mr. Wilkins: "Do not push it, you little insect, I…"
Before he continued his trash talk, he was stopped by Mr. Rowan, who sent a chilling look towards this youngster.
Mr. Rowan: "You do know that you are not going to get out of here alive; none of you are."
Alan: "It depends. Yes, we might die, but you will fail, or we can reach the middle ground, you know, make a deal, not like the charade that you played in front of everyone earlier."
Theodora, who was almost paralyzed by the killing intent Mr. Rowan was releasing, could not take her eyes off this youngster, who looked like he was treating death, a certain death, like a joke.
Mr. Rowan: "I can just kill you and search for it on your person; you don't have any advantage, boy."
Alan: "Yes, you can, but what if you did not find it on my person or with Theodora? Then what? I will provide you with interesting information. I have a space-type talent, which is very rare, but mine is even rarer. On our way to enjoy this lovely dinner, I kind of sent the store thingy that you like very much to a very far place. That's all I can find. This is my first move. Now it is your turn. What will you do now, Mr. Rowan!?"
As an elder who has lived for a very long time and seen much of the horror this world has to offer, Elder Rowan never felt helpless and cornered by someone who is far weaker than him.
When he looked at this youngster, he felt as if he was looking at a viper, a huge snake slowly coiling around him to finish him off.
