Chapter 8: Mission Complete
The attack soon stopped and the red light on the robot’s head dimmed before it crumbled to the ground.
“Uh, is that a suicide attack?” Kurtz thought before looking at his arm, the bony layer over it could be seen receding while his hand seems to have melted under it, slowly trying to rebuild itself, “… and that feels like a magical attack.” He thought with a large frown, wondering how a robot was able to produce magic.
Suddenly, Kurtz felt his whole body going wet, “what the hell!” he muttered looking around and he shook his head. A spray of water from above was trying to quench the fire on the ground but it clearly wasn’t having much success, the flame persisted around the place where the magical attack had spilled.
“I should get out of here.” he muttered sighing, before walking towards a door and pulling on a handle, the door opened and inside, he found his target.
Kurtz froze for a moment looking at the girl whose gaze portrayed great fatigue and as if finally noticing his presence, the girl stirred in her sleep before slowly opening her eyes.
“I am sorry.” Kurtz muttered reaching the girl in an instant and lifting her off the bed, before she could understand what was happening.
“What… who are you?” The girl seems to finally come to her senses as Kurtz walked towards her window. Ignoring the girl squirming in his grasp, he leapt out of the window and he could feel her body stiffened.
Landing calmly, Kurtz smiled as he looked at a familiar silver car just by his side. He opened the door before putting the girl inside, before looking her straight in the eyes, “don’t move.” He commanded.
[Mental Control Activated]
The system flashed as Kurtz’s eyes turned completely black and the girl nodded her head with docile expression.
He sighed and then moved to the other side of the car, entering, and driving off.
Minutes later…
Kurtz eyes was still an entirely black pool as he looked into a bright underground into which his car had descended and he sighed before his eyes turned back to normal.
The girl gasped as her dull face came back to life and she immediately recoiled from Kurtz, her face spotting utter dread.
“You devil, get away from me!” She screamed feeling her heart drummed loudly within her chest. She remembered everything, how she had been struggling against the strange man until his eyes turned entirely black, and then she felt dead.
She simply felt like her mind had been taken over by this man, she couldn’t think again, she could only do whatever he commanded and for once, she truly felt what it meant to be a puppet.
“I am sorry I had to that, it was the only way to get you to comply. And again, I am sorry I have to do this but if you make any sign of resisting, I will be forced to do it again, trust me, you can’t escape me so don’t make it harder.” Kurtz said.
The girl stared on blankly as she watched him exited the car before walking over to her side.
“Come on.” He said and she closed her eyes for a moment before sighing, right now, she was in a critical moment and had no way of fighting back so she could only comply with him, she however hope she wouldn’t come to regret this decision.
“This way.” Kurtz said pointing towards a door and the girl looked around, shivering as she walked towards the direction he was pointing.
Soon, the door parted and Kurtz calmly walked towards the elevator entering with the girl. The elevator stopped soon and opened into a white room where a man could be seen looking towards a screen.
However, the Boss wasn’t the only one in the room, three men and three women were also in the room with him.
“Hey, Kurtz you are here.” Kurtz heard, Sara, a middle aged woman spoke by the side and he turned towards her nodding with a slight smile.
“You guys are all kicking now I see.” he replied looking around the room.
“I knew you could do it Kurtz, great job.” Bryan spoke, before throwing the other men in the room knowing look.
Kurtz did not give a reply to that instead staring into the Boss’s back.
“Great job Kurtz, please attend to our visitor Linda.” the Boss eventually spoke before the young Nurse stood up walking towards the girl who took a step back looking around in fear.
“She won’t hurt you.” Kurtz said looking at the girl he had brought in with a reassuring gaze before his face suddenly scrunched, “Damn!” he shouted suddenly springing in front of the girl and…
Bang!
The sound of bullet being fire resounded as a burnt hole appeared in his cloth.
“What are you doing bastard!” He glowered, glaring at the young man who held two guns in his hand.
“Move away, she killed my brother so she must die.” The young man in the room said looking at Kurtz with a frown, “and don’t dare stand, losers.” he spoke on, the other gun in his hand pointing towards the rest.
Suddenly, the young man noticed a blur and Kurtz hand was grasping tightly around his neck.
“What, how!” he exclaimed before releasing erratic bullets from his gun with shaky hands. Slowly however, leg was being lifted off the ground as Kurtz hand tightened even more, the young man’s face went red and congested as he lost all the strength in his hand dropping the gun to the ground while his legs flailed mid-air.
“Spare him Kurtz, he is Ryan’s brother.” The Boss spoke after sometimes and Kurtz stared at him before staring back at the girl he had brought.
She had in fact been surrounded by the rest of the mercenaries who were all glaring looking towards the young man with pitiful faces.
“Ryan’s brother.” Kurtz repeated, before dropping the young man who slumped on the ground, drawing in labored breathes.
Now he could understand the young man’s action better, Ryan had after all been killed by the girl but even still, he wondered how Ryan’s brother had even learn of this.
“I thought we were not supposed to involve families in our job.” He spoke looking at the Boss who still had his back turned towards him.
“Well, Greg is a mercenary as well, and Ryan always called him up for help in tight situations, he actually did that against the girl but he been killed before his brother arrived, hence this situation, I was thinking of employing his service as well, he is just a good sniper as Ryan.” the Boss.
“Then he better learn to rein in his emotions, death is as common as dirt in this job.” Kurtz spoke looking down at the man, before walking towards the door.
“Uh, won’t you treat your wounds Kurtz.” The Nurse spoke pausing to look at him.
Kurtz paused but he wasn’t looking at Linda, instead he was looking at the girl whom he had abducted. The Nurse seems to have administered some sedative dozes to her as she supported her unto a wheeled bed.
“I am good Linda, thanks for your concern.” He eventually said before hearing the Boss spoke.
“Your trip is under arrangement Kurtz, you will be pinged you when it’s all set.” The Boss spoke and Kurtz exited.
