Chapter 7: Grow with pain
Rolling to his feet in the house, Kurtz could find himself in a large factory like setting with several machines all around.
Looking around, he eventually spotted what he was looking for. A long flight of stairs could be seen leading upwards and he immediately blasted towards it.
A suddenly blaring sound of alarm reached his ears and Kurtz winced feeling his eardrum almost explode in his ear but the alarm was quite late.
Kurtz reached the top of the stairs in one single leap and he was already on the next floor, just as a screen appeared in his sight].
~A new Quest had been detected~
[Grow with pain: Threats have appeared around the user, survive the robot horde without using your bone skills.]
From all around, Kurtz could see numerous robots approaching but before the robots could act, he crossed a couple more floors when he suddenly saw a beam of red laser shot towards him just as he landed on twentieth floor.
Kurtz lunged to the side on time rolling to the wall and in front of him, floating round robots could be seen all blinking red light. Another wave of red lasers shot towards him, this time from all directions and there was no single way to avoid it. For Kurtz however, there actually was.
His nails elongated and hardened into sharp curved claws, before he pushed off the ground latching into the ceiling above.
His sharp had dug through the white roof as he grabbed a metallic pole behind it. At the same instant, he had removed a sophisticated shotgun from within his coat and soundless, a series of bullets spewed forth destroying the robots which were slowly adjusting to his new position.
The bullets exploded on contact with the robots and their body clanged against the ground sounding like the metallic husk they were.
Kurtz could however see many other robots coming from all directions above and below and he sighed.
Jumping to the ground, he removed another gun from inside his coat and with great precision, he shot through the horde of robots and just like that, he had reached the thirtieth floor, then Kurtz froze.
The skyscraper measured about three hundred and fifty meters from the ground to its highest point and Kurtz had mentally evaluated that it would contain about a hundred floors but the scene in front of him now was quite mind-boggling.
The skyscraper could in fact, really contain a hundred floors but the thirtieth floor seems to extend for another hundred meters upwards before the next floor.
There was simply nothing within this hundred meters height and Kurtz looked to the sides, “I am supposed to use this?” he thought looking at a long column which went upwards. Of course, every skyscraper had their elevator just that Kurtz always found the elevators too slow that he would readily take the stairs anywhere and this had finally become a habit, and even was even more wary of being confined between the little space of the elevator.
From above, he could see the round robots floating down and soon, red lasers fell like a rain, just that this was a death rain.
“Damn.” Kurtz muttered moving towards the elevator and pushing on many buttons but none functioned, it seems like whoever had designed this place had really perfected a death ground for the invading party.
“Well, I guess this would be rougher than I thought.” He muttered before shooting up right through the rain of lasers.
In a single leap, Kurtz had covered fifty meters height as he latched into the wall side. His whole body was now smoking and he groaned through gritted teeth, the robots offered no mercy.
Another wave of red lasers shot right towards him and Kurtz teeth grinded against each other before he scaled rapidly up through barrages of lasers.

“Damn, if this continues, I will have to use my bone skills.” Kurtz cursed, watching his health declined rapidly as the lasers burnt through his body. He however, leapt up again this time, he broke right through the robots had had formed a dense canopy, finally reaching the roof above, with almost all the flesh on his body burnt off.

[Mission completed]
Kurtz could see the system notification about successfully completing a quest, but he had no time to check it out.
Punching through the roof, his hand broke through the white plastic ceiling and he swiftly climbed into the metallic frame of the skyscraper.
Kurtz moved rapidly through the frame when his hair suddenly stood on their ends as he felt a surge of electricity washed through and his body trembled in place.

“Damn!” Kurtz muttered once the electric shock receded as he felt his whole body weakening, his skin had blackened and broken, he was smoking all over like a grilled meat.
Kurtz could however feel his body healing back as he continued in his motion this time trying as much as he could limit his contact with the metallic frame all around. He suffered another two of such electric shock that would have normally killed even the most resilient human but Kurtz was never human.
Tensing his hand into a fist, he slammed a fist into a brick surface above it and a hole was immediately blasted through the brick. Kurtz climbed over the ground before stiffening, a single humanoid robot could be seen in the place.
Sighing, Kurtz picked himself off the ground before smiling, “finally” he spoke looking beyond the robot towards a door but the robot had acted.
[Danger! Unknown creature detected!]
The System suddenly warned and Kurtz frowned, “isn’t it just a robot.” He thought before seeing a red orb shone on its head, before a thick red column blasted towards him. In fact, this did not look like a ray but instead a material substance and Kurtz felt the fear of death enveloping him for the first time since reaching here.
He was too close and the attack was too fast that he could only raise his hand Kurtz did it. He opened in his palm right in the attack’s path and a bony covering could be seen materializing over the hand into which the attack slammed, the attack went spilling to the sides and Kurtz could see the ground bursting into flame on contact with this aura.
