Chapter 6: Fallen
“She is no longer in the room.” Kurtz thought in realization before thinking back to the event of the previous day, the girl had equally vanished from inside the car and then attacked him from behind.
He hadn’t understood how she got there then and even now, he also failed to understand how she vanished from within her room, things were however different now. Yesterday, their encounter was at noon and he was already at his weakest due to the sun, now however, the sun was still somewhere within the clouds and Kurtz could finally exercise his power.
Closing his eyes, he took in a deep breath and a smile emerged on his face before he leapt off the skyscraper. His coat floated upwards as he soared down from a great height before landing firmly on the ground and he could hear a single gasp from the side. Looking there, he was surprised to see an old man walking along the street and his brows rose, the place was quite deserted and he had never expected to see an old person walking all alone.
“Sorry.” He muttered before taking another deep breathe. Her presence had turned completely disappeared from his sense but Kurtz could still caught on her scent easily. Swiftly, he followed it trail and soon he had come into a forest and then he paused, he could finally feel her presence. The target was nearby.
“It’s you again?” he heard her familiar voice spoke from the side and looking there, he could see a silver eyed lady emerging from within the trees and his brows rose.
This time, the target’s features were not concealed and he could see her beautiful silver curls which cascaded down her head in their full glory, perfectly complimenting her silver iris.
On her body, she wore no hoodie but a simple blue gown which somehow managed to look elegant on her tall figure. The gown was also quite fitting and her beautiful curves were accentuated, Kurtz wondered why someone would even hide those under some large clothing.
“What do you want?” the girl asked with slight frown and Kurtz dazed face pepped up.
“Uh, sorry, yeah, it is me again, I guess.” he said with a smile, but the girl’s face only hardened even more.
“What do you want?” she repeated and Kurtz blanked for a moment.
At this point, he wasn’t even sure or what he wanted, his eyes however lit up quickly as an idea flashed in his brain, “err… I actually here to return this?” he answered patting his waist for a moment before removing a small gun and handing it to the girl who looked on at him, her frown not in the bit relaxed.
“Put it on the ground.” she spoke and an amused smile emerged on Kurtz face. He calmly put the gun on the ground and then raised both hands, “I used a bullet, hope you wouldn’t mind.” he said as the girl stared at the gun for a moment before looking back at him.
“You can leave.” she spoke and nodding, Kurtz slowly retreated from her.
“This is not happening Kurtz, you aren’t backing down again.” A voice thundered in his ear and a wary smile emerged from Kurtz face, soon the girl’s figure had disappear within the dense tree and Kurtz sighed dropping his hands.
“Don’t worry Boss, I am not backing down, I am simply curious about something.” He said before looking at the large trees to the sides.
Soon, Kurtz could be seen on the very highest trees, his eyes piercing through the canopy as he watched a figure moved on in the far distance, it was the girl who seems to have continued her journey within the forest.
“Did… did you catch that.” Kurtz suddenly asked with a shaken voice but only silence followed for a moment.
“Well, the drone did.” the Boss replied after sometimes and Kurtz shocked face slowly calmed.
“So, she really did disappear into a tree.” he asked.
“Yeah, she did.” the Boss answered.
“So, I loosed her?” he asked on.
“You sound quite happy about that.” the Boss commented.
“Happy, not quite, all I feel right now is curiosity, giving this girl out to some people might turn out to be a waste so why don’t you cancel the mission?” he spoke with fascinated face.
“Cancel the mission, it’s the government we are talking about here” the Boss replied.
“The government, so what about them, just cancel their contract and refund their money already.” Kurtz urged.
“Well, that wasn’t in the agreement and they will come after us.” the Boss said.
“You think I give a damn.” Kurtz replied and the place went silent for another moment.
“That sounds like you are willing to war…” the Boss spoke and Kurtz mouth curled up, “…for love” the Boss added and Kurtz curled mouth straightened.
“Not for love, I am curious” he argued.
A sigh could be heard before the Boss spoke again, “a trip to the Underworlds” he said and Kurtz eyes bulged, almost popping out of their sockets.
“What, what did you say?” he asked immediately.
“You heard me right, if you get the girl, the government will be willing to give you a license to Underworlds, what about it?” the Boss asked.
Kurtz quietened for a moment, his eyes constricted in a thoughtful expression, “I thought you said it was impossible.” he said after sometimes.
“I didn’t remember saying that, I only said a trip to the Underworlds would be almost impossible. But as long as the conditions are met, nothing is truly impossible Kurtz.” the Boss spoke and Kurtz closed his eyes with gritted teeth.
“Why do I feel like you always had a way to get me into the Underworlds all along, you only kept it as a hidden card and used it when you felt there was no other way to get me in action?” Kurtz stated, but there was no response, “whatever the case, I will get this girl to you as soon as she emerges, I can’t believe I am finally going back there…” Kurtz said with a reminiscent gaze “…even though I will be just a visitor now.” he added while staring off into the distance.
Hours later…
Kurtz had an amused smile on his face as he held off a bird in a staring competition. The bird had suddenly flown in from the air before cawing and glaring at him, looking behind it, Kurtz could see a nest with few eggs inside it and he immediately understood the bird’s action. Sitting here all day had however, bored him a great deal and he couldn’t help find the bird’s action funny, hence he glared back.
“Kurtz, the girl is out of the forest.” the Boss voice suddenly spoke in his ear and Kurtz eye widened.
“How.” He exclaimed rolling of the tree before landing on the ground, “how didn’t I notice?”
“Well, you just need to get her, we should have plenty times to ask for her explanations after that.” the Boss answered.
“That makes sense, so where is she?” Kurtz asked. Now it was midday so his senses were greatly restricted, he could only rely on the drones.
“She is back in her room.” the Boss spoke and Kurtz quickly got in motion. Navigating through the city which had turned lively now, he had to move a lot stealthier than earlier and eventually reached the gargantuan skyscraper.
This building in comparison to all other around was on a league of its own.
“Well, I can’t scale up now unless I want to see myself all over the net in the next instant.” Kurtz muttered, looked up the building for some moments.
“I can detect several surveillance around the place so stay clear while I search the safest route.” the Boss voice spoke in his ear and Kurtz sighed before walking in a random direction.
“Okay, I have my results.” the Boss eventually spoke.
“So, what is the safest route?” Kurtz asked walking back towards the building.
“Well, the skyscraper actually houses a doll production factory which is solely manned by robots and also seems to be owned by the girl. With the surveillance all around, so there is actually no safest route. In fact, there is no route that goes in unless the girl opens it.” The Boss spoke.
“And what is that supposed to mean?” Kurtz asked after sometimes.
“It mean we do it the old fashioned way. I will get Finn off his bed right now and hopefully, he will be able to create a small glitch in the system just to allow you pass through. His success depends solely on fast the girl respond to this, if successful, you should immediately get in the house and once inside, you will be on your own against a mob of robots and a sharp shooter who can appear behind you any moment, okay! So show what you have got and get this girl to me before night fall.” The Boss ordered.
“No problem boss, I would however, need a car ready on the ground below the girl’s window.” He stated.
“On it, the glitch position is five meters west.” The Boss spoke and Kurtz immediately moved west, “in three, two, one, uh, get in! Get in now!” The Boss shouted but Kurtz had already noticed a small gap opening by the side and he lunged forwards.
