Superman's Saiyan little brother

Chapter 416: Chapter 416: Delivering the Message and Sacrifice

However, for the Earth Demon, such injuries weren't fatal. Especially as long as he was in contact with the ground, he could continuously absorb its power to heal himself. Carter Slade's attack wasn't nearly enough to kill him.

Carter Slade's attack wasn't particularly lethal, not only because he had to defend against the Wind Demon and Water Demon's assaults, but also because he didn't want to damage the area.

With a whoosh, just as Carter Slade's attack wounded the Earth Demon, a gust of wind whipped up around him, enveloping him in a whirlwind. The flames on his body began to flicker wildly.

Carter Slade's Hellfire, more potent than ordinary Hellfire, withstood the whirlwind. Otherwise, his flames would have been extinguished instantly. Despite maintaining his Hellfire, the whirlwind restricted his movements, making it difficult to combat the formless Wind Demon.

"Trapped? Then it's my turn!" Seeing Carter Slade restrained, the Earth Demon grabbed a chunk of molten lava from his chest and hurled it at Carter Slade. This act worsened his injury, but he showed no sign of pain, as if sacrificing himself was an honor.

Boom! Boom! Boom! The molten lava shot through the whirlwind, striking Carter Slade and pushing him back. However, Carter Slade wasn't harmed since he was now a skeletal figure of flames, impervious to lava.

The Earth Demon, Wind Demon, and Water Demon realized this issue. Having worked under Blackheart for a long time, they understood each other's moves. The Water Demon, who had been inactive, finally made his move.

From the foul water, a massive stream surged out, resembling a great river, targeting Carter Slade. The water was as filthy as the rest of the sewer water, emitting a putrid stench. It could be called Water Release: Filthy Stream!

As the filthy stream combined with the whirlwind, it transformed into a filthy tornado, swirling towards Carter Slade. This foul tornado, infused with Hellish power, was more than just disgusting; it had the combined strength to affect the Hellfire.

Unwilling to touch the revolting tornado, Carter Slade decided to unleash his full power. His Hellfire flared, illuminating and incinerating everything around him. The tornado evaporated instantly, and the Wind Demon's form was forced out and badly burnt. The Water Demon was entirely vaporized, leaving not a drop behind. The Earth Demon turned to rubble, seemingly lifeless.

This single move incapacitated Blackheart's elemental demons. However, it wasn't without a cost. Carter Slade's Ghost Rider power was almost depleted after this attack. Moreover, the blast's destruction included not just the demons but also his chosen resting place.

The chapel was half-destroyed, and the surrounding graves, including Carter Slade's, were obliterated. This was why he hadn't used such a powerful attack initially; he wanted to drive the demons away before deciding whether to fight or flee. The elemental demons' combined strength forced his hand.

Even the most powerful beings can't always foresee their future perfectly. Carter Slade had paid a heavy price, and Blackheart seemed shocked.

"Damn, wasn't he supposed to be out of power? How is he still this strong? Are the three demons dead? Why is there no movement?" Blackheart, seeing Carter Slade's flaming skull gaze towards him again, felt no desire to fight. He was a mighty Hell Lord, Murphy's son, and wouldn't risk his life now.

Despite Blackheart's ambitions, his courage faltered. This was why he survived so long in Hell despite his ambitions, with only the three elemental demons as his subordinates.

Just as Blackheart considered fleeing, he felt the ground beneath him shift. A pebble appeared, startling him.

"Honorable Lord, it's me..." The Earth Demon's voice echoed in Blackheart's mind. "I'm not dead, and neither is the Wind Demon, but the Water Demon is gone. We've found the Saint Savaticon Covenant! It's in that burnt shovel over there. The Wind Demon is retrieving it. Just stall the Ghost Rider, and we'll succeed!"

"You found it? My lordship is within reach?!" Blackheart's excitement returned. With his subordinates' assurance, his confidence grew. Though he wouldn't fight Carter Slade directly, he could delay him.

Clap! Clap! Clap! With newfound calm, Blackheart applauded, confusing Carter Slade. "Impressive! Who would've thought an old Ghost Rider nearing death could still be this strong, killing my three subordinates? No wonder my father made you a Ghost Rider!" Blackheart praised, then mocked.

"But now, how much strength do you have left? Probably just one last effort, right? Do you really think that's enough to kill me? If not, the Saint Savaticon Covenant will be mine..."

"And how can you be sure I can't kill you?" Carter Slade's Hellfire flared as he prepared for a final, all-out attack.

"Wait, wait, calm down!" Blackheart hadn't anticipated Carter Slade's fierce determination. He didn't want to die here; he had a promising future ahead.

"Lord, flee! I've succeeded!" The Wind Demon's voice rang out as a contract flew towards Blackheart, controlled by the Wind Demon.

"The Covenant?!"

"The Covenant!!"

Carter Slade and Blackheart shouted simultaneously, their tones and emotions vastly different.

Carter Slade hadn't expected the Wind Demon to survive and find the Covenant. Now that it was taken, he had failed and would not let Blackheart escape.

With a roar, a terrifying Hellfire blast surged towards Blackheart.

"Lord, run!" The Wind Demon transformed into a whirlwind, barely holding back the Hellfire for a moment—just enough for the cowardly Blackheart to escape.

Boom! The area was engulfed in a massive explosion, but Blackheart had fled, taking a small stone and the Saint Savaticon Covenant with him.

"Damn it!" In the ruined cemetery, Carter Slade knew his final strike had only killed the insignificant Wind Demon. He failed to stop Blackheart and destroy the Covenant, filling him with regret.

"I can't die yet..." Reverting to his human form, the elderly and weakened Carter Slade struggled but didn't collapse. Driven by determination, he whistled loudly.

Shortly after, an old horse arrived. This wasn't his original horse from over a century ago, but an equally loyal and old steed.

Sensing Carter Slade's imminent death, the horse neighed sorrowfully and knelt, allowing him to mount.

"Go! Find the nearest supernatural group. I must deliver this message..." Carter Slade whispered as his consciousness faded. As a tough old cowboy, he wouldn't normally lie limp on horseback, but now he had no choice.

The horse galloped to a nearby tavern, stopping at the entrance and neighing.

"What's happening? Huh? Someone on horseback? Drunk?" The doorman approached cautiously, finding the weak Carter Slade and failing to recognize him.

"My name is Carter Slade. Find a trustworthy supernatural being on the side of neutrality or justice. Tell them Murphy's son, Blackheart, has come to Earth. He's a Hell Lord who's taken the Saint Savaticon Covenant. They must go to Saint Savaticon to stop him, or he'll establish a foothold here..." Carter Slade urged, giving directions and promising his revolver as a reward, a powerful supernatural item.

As he spoke, he raised his revolver but lacked the strength to finish, collapsing on the horse and dying. His soul, bound by an ancient contract, descended to Hell, into Murphy's domain.

"Not bad, the first step went smoothly. So quickly your soul has arrived? We haven't seen each other in years." In Hell, Murphy, pleased with Carter Slade's soul, anticipated molding it with its fierce hatred of evil, finding it entertaining.

Unaware of Blackheart's departure or Carter Slade's actions, Murphy assumed Carter would die at the chapel, isolated and awaiting his end.
