Chapter 195: -Want to come in?-

Beep!

Just outside of a fancy two-storey duplex, a mother and daughter closed the door behind them as it gave a beep that notified that it was successfully locked.

Letting her gaze drift towards the water fountain, the mother who Max knew to be his MILF neighbour, Mrs Dalia, turned to glance at her daughter who stood by her side, confused by her mother's silence. Naturally this was Talia.

"If I can't come to pick you by any chance, I'll ask him to come pick you up." Mrs Dalia said, making her daughter blush.

…Presen…

"Really?"

Blushing, Talia briefly glanced at him then quickly turned her head away.

His eyes set on the road, Max swallowed his grin and didn't glance at her.

A few moments passed in silence until finally Talia was able to wave away her heavy blush.

"You shouldn't have done that." Halfway through smiling and blushing, Talia said and turned to stare past the tinted windows.

"Done what?"

Unfortunately Max wasn't going to let her off easily, glancing at her he steadied his hands on the steering and silently awaited her response.

Freezing upon his voice, Talia gritted her teeth, refusing to blush but unable to make the flush disappear.

After

"For bringing this… and calling out to me… like you're my boyfriend or something."

After some hesitation, Talia said through gritted teeth while staring past the tinted glass.

"Oh?"

"Am I not though?"

Visualising a grin, Max asked, his voice curious and casual.

And sure enough Talia's shoulders froze, same with her breath, followed by silence as she was unable to reply.

Having expected her reaction, Max composed his tone before asking further.

"I mean… I am a boy and your friend. Isn't that it?"

Hearing his words, Talia's shoulders visibly relaxed and her voice came after.

"We are not friends though." She said softly, defiantly biting her lips.

Glancing at her with a skeptical look, Max shook his head and resumed to focus on the road.

"Okay." He said.

Feeling awkward and reasoning Max's words just now, Talia quickly spoke up.

"You don't understand what you've done. They'll… they'll think I have a boyfriend--"

"Uh?"

Cutting her short, Max raised his brows pretending to be a little surprised by her words.

"You don't have a boyfriend?" He said.

"Uhm-" about to reply, Talia's cheeks instantly flushed in embarrassment realizing that it would probably downgrade Max's view of her.

"... I do, but we broke up." Fumbling with words for a moment, she managed to say.

"Oh, I see, what possibly made you two break up?"

Feigning he hadn't seen through her lie, Max played along and asked.

However, his question seemed to have an impact on Talia causing her to stutter.

'I have never lied this much before.' Put into a spot, Talia's thoughts operated quickly to form a quick response while her eyes avoided glancing at Max.

"He… he cheated on me." She quickly said in a hushed whisper audible enough for Max to hear clearly.

"Oh. Such a fool."

Appearing stunned, he saw Talia blush from the corner of his eyes before she swiftly hid her face.

'Hehe.'

"... He's probably regretting his decision right now, don't take him back."

"Hmmm."

Talia shook her head in response.

Just like that, the car resumed into silence.

As his drifting thoughts wandered about Mrs Dalia and what Talia's father would look like, he heard Talia's hesitant voice next to him.

"What about you?

Do you have a- girlfriend?" she said with a quietish tone.

"Huh? Yes."

Stunned at first, Max casually replied showing no hesitation.

"Oh."

In reaction, Talia's expression visibly changed, losing much of its earlier glow.

Though she tried to hide it, Max inwardly smirked at her reaction.

"Her name is Linda. A shy loving lady."

Max added, causing Talia's expression to change even more.

Revealing a subtle smile-

"She doesn't think it's fair to have me all to herself though."

"Hmm? What do you mean?"

Raising her beautiful brows in confusion, Talia glanced at him.

'Successfully baited.' Max thought.

"It means I can have more than one girlfriend if I want to without her getting upset."

Though his tone turned smug at the end, Talia didn't mind but appeared drawn by curiosity.

"Is that even possible?"

Seeing a faint blush reignite on her cheeks, Max swallowed his urge to smile.

Nodding, he appeared casual about it which further drew Talia's curiosity.

"Uhm-, how many girlfriends do you have then?"

Blushing, Talia asked.

"Officially? One."

In a dismissing tone, Max answered causing Talia to withdraw from asking any further question.

"Okay." Turning to face the tinted glass, Talia nodded and kept quiet.

Just then, the estate entrance came in view, stationed with sophisticated securities.

Without stopping, they drove through the opened gate unhindered by the securities.

'Huh?'

Turning to glance at Max, Talia appeared confused by the strange incident since it had always been compulsory to stop at the gate.

However, seeing Max's silent expression she decided not to press further.

Driving through the clear asphalt road and aligned European trees, rows of fancy mansion like duplex soon came into view.

Stepping on the brakes, Max pulled the car to a stop in front of the duplex.

In between the silence, the door slowly slid down and Talia got out.

"Thanks." She muttered about to walk away when she suddenly stopped and turned back before the door could close.

"Do you want to come in?"
