Chapter 64 Explorer Trading Market
A certain market at the edge of Crystal Town.
Kane Squad was walking down the central street of the market.
Surrounding them were several explorers trading equipment. This area was specifically allocated for explorers, allowing them to freely trade equipment.
There is such a market at the entrance of almost every dungeon.
The stalls were evenly distributed on both sides of the street. Any explorer who needed it could just pay to gain temporary use of a stall.
"Human Armor with Dual Attributes! Exchange for a Thief's Leather Armor."
"Assassin's Long Dagger, Penetration Attribute for just 1 token."
"Summoning Artifact, first come, first served."
The one selling cannon fodder artifacts was from a race with horns on their head. Forgive Kane for his lack of knowledge; he didn't know what race he belonged to.
Because the man's head wasn't adorned with just one or two horns, but a bunch, a bundle of differently sized curved horns that were practically his hair.
With his shouting, the crowd around the stall visibly increased.
After all, no one would mind having more summoning artifacts, but of course, the ones brought here to sell wouldn't be strong summons, usually just cannon fodder.
Kane and his group of four headed straight here after leaving the potion shop.
Because Kane hadn't been here before, plus they were about to tackle the 10th level of the dungeon, which was the second stage boss.
The only known information about the second stage boss was the Sewn Beast, but no matter how it's sewn, it's still a beast.
So they planned to check the market for suitable equipment before exploring.
The magic shops in town rarely sold equipment; you had to order them and wait for the delivery.
So it was better to visit this explorers' market first. After all, you might find some exceptional equipment here occasionally.
The group began to look around aimlessly, touching equipment they liked and asking for prices.
As they walked around, they dispersed, each looking for equipment that interested them.
Kane wandered around the market for half a day.
Finally, he fixed his gaze on a stall mainly selling hunter equipment.
Kane approached the stall, whose owner was a somewhat graying man with unavoidable wrinkles on his face.
He was dressed in hunting gear, and the stall was filled with trap devices, various bows, and some quivers.
Kane touched each quiver and picked up the one he took a liking to from among them.
[Hunter's Quiver]
[Quiver]
[Ammunition: 0/15]
[Color: Copper]
[Attribute: Micro Repair]
[Skill: Ammunition Recovery] (Once every hour, can automatically recover ammunition)
The skill of ammunition recovery is a must-have for this type of equipment.
Additionally, the ability to slowly repair arrows makes this equipment above average.
"How much?"
Kane was ready to buy this equipment; he had quite some assets on him.
The owner glanced up and grinned.
"2 tokens"
Transactions between explorers rarely used gold coins; they mostly used mist tokens or bartered goods.
If he wanted gold coins, he might as well sell it to a shop. After all, mist tokens were of great use to explorers.
Such a price was quite reasonable, and Kane took it.
Then he picked up what he was truly after.
This was a small copper bow, only palm-sized.
It seemed more like a backpack ornament than equipment.
[Beast Camp Hunter Token]
[Consumable]
[Color: Copper]
[Attribute: Learn on Use - Powerful Shot] (After using the skill, it will use magic power to unleash the bow's potential, firing a powerful strike from the bow, consuming the bow's durability. Repeated use will damage the equipment.)
[Description: A classic technique of the giant beast hunters from the Beast Camp, although their bows are purely made of beast bone.]
The skills on this were perfect for Kane, as his skills allowed him to craft bows anytime, anywhere, without worrying about damage.
"And how much for this one?"
The owner looked at Kane and replied, "6 tokens"
Perhaps fearing Kane wouldn't recognize the value and think it expensive, he added an explanation.
"The power of this skill depends on what kind of bow you use. The better the bow, the stronger the skill. This is a skill that can be used continuously and won't become obsolete."
Kane was aware of the market price; this wasn't expensive but slightly above the market rate.
However, such skills were hard to find, so being slightly above the market rate was quite normal.
Kane didn't haggle and handed over 8 mist tokens to the owner.
"Check if it's correct."
After speaking, he prepared to leave with his purchase.
The owner immediately called Kane back.
"Wait a moment, are you an archer?"
Kane stopped and looked at the owner curiously.
"Yes."
The owner scratched his head and chuckled, "Need any special arrows?"
Kane was interested.
"I do, but what kind of arrows do you have?"
The owner chuckled slyly, ruining the aura of style he previously had and turning a bit sleazy.
He pulled out a wooden box from under the stall and opened it, revealing bundles of various arrows.
The owner pulled out one of each type of arrow and placed them on the stall for Kane to choose from.
Kane picked up one of the burning arrows, began checking, and inspecting the quality of the arrow.
Although Kane wasn't particularly skilled at making these arrows, as a hunter, he had to have the skill to identify them.
After randomly checking some arrows, Kane was very satisfied with their quality.
"Why don't you display these arrows?"
"Sigh."
The owner suddenly sighed.
"There are fewer and fewer explorers using bows and arrows these days."
"Is that really the case?"
Kane wasn't aware of such trends; the explorers he usually saw stored their weapons in space equipment.
No one had commented that it was unusual for Kane to be an archer.
"Aren't you, as an archer, aware?"
"Tell me more."
After all, he had made his purchase and had nothing else to do; he might as well listen to the owner's stories.
The owner extended his hand to Kane and said, "Leica."
"Kane."
He shook the owner's hand.
The owner nodded, "How did you become an archer, Kane?"
"I was a hunter in my hometown."
"I see."
The owner understood and then said, "You know about the Magic Energy Weapon Guild, right? About a decade ago, they replicated a type of long-range magic weapon and made cheap, practical magic energy firearms. Low-level explorers find these weapons more advantageous than bows and arrows."
He looked at the equipment on his stall with a hint of nostalgia.
"Many explorers who used bows and arrows switched to using magic energy weapons. Later, some copper dungeons also started yielding these types of equipment, and gradually, there were fewer explorers using bows and arrows."
After hearing the owner's words, Kane didn't feel too bad. After all, with progress, some outdated things become neglected and eventually disappear.
But that doesn't mean you should stop progressing.
Therefore, the wheels of time cannot be stopped by anyone.
So, where can those firearms be bought? A friend of mine is quite interested.
