Chapter 63: Specialized Potion
9 a.m.
Crystal Town
Kane walked down the town streets with Kreya and Longbei.
They were heading to Meizike's shop, where they had an appointment last night to meet up at the potion shop.
Meizike said he would prepare some tailored potions for them.
After exploring a few dungeons, Kane and his companions had become quite familiar with Meizike, and their conversations increased a lot compared to the initial days when barely a word was exchanged.
Through many battles fought side by side, Meizike had grown familiar with Kane and the others' physical profiles, allowing him to specially prepare potions matching their bodies.
Kane arrived at the potion shop he had visited once before, finding it essentially closed for the day.
Even the potion shop sign above the door had been covered with a black cloth.
He knocked on the door.
The door automatically opened.
This time, the shop lacked the strange smell it had before.
Instead, there was a refreshing, aromatic scent of potions.
Due to the shop's peculiar layout, Kane and his companions could only face the counter in a row.
Upon seeing Kane and the others, Meizike pulled down a ladder from the ceiling behind the counter.
"Wait a moment, I'll get the stuff."
You see, he indeed speaks a bit more than before.
While waiting, Kane started observing the surroundings.
The place seemed a bit more spacious than before.
The shop had undergone changes since it stopped operating regularly.
The large cabinets that took up space and displayed only a few potions were gone.
The glass counter no longer displayed any potions; only a large potion cabinet displayed a full array of potions.
Longbei, looking at Kane who was glancing around, said:
"What are you looking at? Let me take a look too."
Being a dwarf, and sandwiched between Kane and Kreya, Longbei had completely lost sight of his surroundings.
Hearing Longbei's words, Kane was a bit speechless.
He handed a stool to Longbei from the side.
Seeing the stool, Longbei's eyes lit up—it was exactly what he needed.
"Oh, thank you."
With the stool, Longbei finally managed to pop his head over the counter.
"So, what were you looking at just now?"
"When I first came here, I came with Kreya to buy potions. The layout has changed a lot."
"That's it, huh," Longbei patted his chest. "I helped him move the cabinets before."
Since when did the two of you become so close?
Just then, Meizike was making his way down with a large box.
Seeing him struggling down the ladder, Kane quickly said: "Let me help you with the box."
Saying that, he shot out two strands of spider silk, wrapped the box, and pulled it over.
Watching the box fly over, Meizike nodded towards Kane.
"Thank you."
As Meizike approached, Longbei patted the box and asked,
"What's inside, good buddy?"
Without answering, Meizike opened the box directly.
Inside were various potions of different colors and sizes.
The group watched as Meizike's four hands rummaged through the box.
Placing various potions before Kane.
Soon, a pile of assorted potions appeared in front of Kane, each bottle bearing a simple spider web emblem.
Next, Meizike began selecting potions for Longbei.
Unlike Kane's, some of Longbei's potions were in different colors and sizes and bore a head with red flame-like beard emblem.
It seemed the emblems were used to identify which potions were tailored for whom, preventing mix-ups.
Finally, it was Kreya's turn, with potions easy to identify.
The red and yellow potions were noticeably larger than others, and there were some potions vastly different from Kane and Longbei's.
These potions were marked with a simple centaur icon.
Meiketsu first approached Kane,
taking out potions different from the others, he began introducing them.
First was a Blue Potion, clearer and more transparent than the others'.
"It matches your constitution, increasing magic recovery speed but reducing recovery quantity."
When entering Meizike's field of expertise, he spoke with normal human standards.
Then, he picked up another potion resembling magma, with only two bottles available.
"Explosive Bottle, detonates three seconds after magic input."
This potion, or rather explosive, was modified from the previous Explosive Bottle, turning it into a grenade usable by anyone.
Evidently, the artful collaboration with Kane had left an impression on him.
Next was Longbei,
starting with a coffee-colored potion, Meizike took it in hand to introduce.
"Strength Potion, increases physical strain, enhances muscle, bone, and internal organ toughness."
A dwarf's physical strength is renowned, so to other races, using such a potion typically causes side effects over time.
However, for dwarves, consuming this merely adds a bit of physical burden and increased energy consumption, without any other side effects, even if used frequently.
Then came a silver, very metallic-looking potion.
"Steel Skin, reduces agility, significantly boosts external defense."
These were Longbei's unique potions, purely tailored enhancement potions for a dwarf.
Lastly, it was Kreya's turn.
Meizike skipped the bottled yellow Physical Potion, recognizable as the size-enhanced version custom-made for centaurs.
He picked up a black potion differing from others.
"Sharpness Enchanting Potion, pour it over weapons."
He also fetched two boxes of paste from under the counter.
"For maintaining weapons and armor, enhancing material strength."
He then brought out a bottle of semi-transparent white potion, one available to all three.
"Enhancement Potion, can be consumed only once per day, more has no effect. It can enhance the effects of my enhancements on you and extend duration somewhat."
Then he handed each of the three a small waist clasp adorned with a thumb-sized gem.
He demonstrated, sweeping his hand over the gem, and a Potion Bottle appeared in his hand.
Other space equipment requires reaching into the space to retrieve items.
Kane stored the potions, discovering the space wasn't large but enough for some potions.
Meizike served as a team support, consistently contributing his capabilities in recent battles.
Though usually quiet, he made quite an impact for the team this time.
Longbei placed the potions into his waist pouch, speaking with a bit of sentiment.
"This is what it's like having a skilled pharmacist in the team; it's sheer paradise."
Hearing Longbei's words, Kane and Kreya agreed with nods.
Kane, after all, could be referred to as a country bumpkin.
But even Kreya hadn't experienced such thorough, personalized service before.
Based on your combat habits, role in the team, and constitution, special potions were prepared to closely match your body.
These potions were more easily absorbed and effective than any other.
