Chapter 993: 990: On The Other Side
Thalos coughed out a mouthful of blood as he slammed into the wall. His eyes rolled to the back of his head, and he went unconscious as he slammed into the ground.
The entire throne room remained silent as they all stared at the unconscious Thalos. Corey shifted his gaze to Queen Nerith, and his gaze flashed with surprise and curiosity.
Queen Nerith was the reason for Thalos' current state, and Corey was surprised by how easy it had been for her to send Thalos flying and unconscious.
She had just waved her hand, and a powerful gust of wind that did not even touch Jeremy slammed into Thalos, sending him flying into the wall and nearly crushing all his bones in two.
With how powerful Queen Nerith's attack had been, Corey could not help but wonder if the prince was dead, or if he would even be able to recover from the injuries he sustained.
'Well, he's an Immortal, so he should. But the power behind the attack of the queen... It looked like an ordinary gust of wind, but the runes that make up the wind are unlike anything I've ever seen before.'
'If I was at the receiving end of that attack, I would die.'
'The queen seems to be more powerful than her children combined.'
Corey's eyes flickered as he had this thought, and then he spoke.
"He seems to believe that he's really innocent, could he be saying the truth?"
Queen Nerith shook her head while massaging her forehead with a tired sigh.
"A large part of me wants to believe that he's innocent, but everything says otherwise... Especially with the involvement of his personal guards."
"Hmm." Corey furrowed his brows slightly, and then he looked at the door to the throne room.
"So, what are we going to do now?"
Queen Nerith closed her eyes for a moment, and when she opened them, the pain that was present in her eyes after learning of Thalos betrayal was no longer visible.
She had suppressed it, and decided to focus on the imminent danger at hand. She looked at Corey.
"It seems the Freedom Fighters and the people of your world-"
"They're not from our world... Well, many of them are not from our world. They're invaders who wish to take control of our world by all means possible."
Corey cut her off and corrected her, wanting to make sure that she did not have this belief that only the people in this room were the only influential New Earthlings that wanted support them.
Queen Nerith looked at Corey for a few moment, and then she continued speaking.
"Regardless, in less than five minutes, they'll arrive in this place. And I have no idea what their goal is."
Corey frowned slightly hearing this. "Do you recognize if some are not humans, and if some are humans, do you have an idea of what force they belong to?"
Queen Nerith frowned slightly, and a few seconds later, she shook her head slightly.
"I believe there are vampires in their mix, and there are a couple of undeads too. I think there's a black magician or a necromancer that's controlling the undeads."
"As for the forces the others belong to, I have no idea since it has been a very long time since I associated with the outside world."
Corey's eyes flickered when he heard the word, "undead", and his mind instantly went to the Book of Death.
"Do you see anybody holding the black book?"
"The black book?" Queen Nerith frowned, and then she focused on the groups of people that were coming to her doorstep.
A few seconds later, she shook her head slightly.
"I see no one with the black book or a black book."
Corey frowned, and then he began asking other questions that were on his mind. Because of the damage he had done to his eyes, he could not use his Eyes of Omniscience to observe the enemies that were coming their way, and Corey also noticed that there seemed to be a formation that suppressed their senses, because even till now, he could not sense the auras of their enemies even when they were so close to the throne room.
'And it seems it's only the Queen that's able to sense them through special means that's only available to her.'
'It doesn't look like Syrelle and Orynthia can also sense them.'
"What of their Tiers? How many Tier 7s? How many Tier 6s? Tier 5s? And the rest. Who is leading them? The Freedom Fighters? Or the Invaders?"
"And what of your warriors outside the palace since it seems all the guards in your palace are either dead or have betrayed you. Can they come and assist us?"
"Also, what of your people outside? The commoners? Can you rally them together to join in the fight? With the weapons your people create, I'm sure they'll be a lot stronger than normal."
"And what of your defenses in the palace? Can you activate them? Can you restore them if they're inactive?"
"And most importantly, how do you plan on surviving this predicament?"
Everybody gave Corey a strange look the moment they heard all his questions. To them, it looked like Corey was interviewing Queen Nerith, and it was a strange sight.
Especially to Syrelle and Orynthia who had never seen anybody ask their queen so many questions.
Queen Nerith looked at Corey with a strange expression. Even she felt strange being faced with so many questions.
However, what none of them knew was that the questions he asked was not even up to a fraction of the questions he had in his mind.
"Unless I'm wrong and my senses are being dulled by them, I cannot sense any Tier 7 amongst them. As for Tier 6s? Over two dozens Tier 6s are currently approaching us. There are more coming through the portal. There are currently sixty eight Tier 5s, and no Tier 4s or lower."
"As for my warriors and people outside. I can't get to them from here because they've placed a barrier around the palace that even I cannot penetrate from here. I need to get close to the barrier and destroy it."
"And the defenses have also been shut down completely. But there's a way to restore them back. If it comes down to it, Syrelle can tell you how. But that's only when it's an emergency."
"As for how I plan on surviving this predicament? I believe this is nothing compared to the dangers our ancestors faced in the past, so how could I run away from this little danger?"
The moment Queen Nerith said these words, the doors to the throne room opened, allowing Corey and the others to see the army that was on the other side.
