Chapter 992: 989: Your Personal Elite Guards [Bonus]
"Thalos... Why have you betrayed me?"
The entire throne room went silent the moment Queen Nerith spoke, and everybody's gaze went to Thalos who had a baffled and stunned expression.
"What are you talking about mother?"
Queen Nerith closed her eyes in pain once again, and then she pointed a finger to the air in front of her.
A ripple occurred in the air, and a silver mirror showing a room that was all too familiar to not only Thalos, but his sisters and mother.
In the room was a teleportation formation on the floor, and above this formation was a swirling portal where dozens of individuals were stepping out from.
These individuals were not Silver Elves, but several Outsiders from different organizations.
The moment everybody saw this scene, their expressions changed, and an aura of killing intent and fury blasted out from Syrelle and Orynthia as they both charged at Thalos with their weapons in hands.
Clang!
Thalos blocked the attacks, but his sisters were not your average Joe, and blocking the attacks of two talented Immortals who attacked with both fury and killing intent?
It was not an easy feat in the slightest.
The shockwave from the attacks caused the pupils of Corey, Pamela, Jeremy, and the others to constrict into pinholes. They could feel their instincts screaming at them, and even Corey and Pamela who were the strongest amongst all of them knew that their lives were in danger.
They were about to take action to do their best to prevent themselves and the others from dying, but a wave of Queen Nerith's hand dispelled the shockwave and caused all of them to heave a heavy sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, Thalos slammed into the palace walls despite blocking the attacks of Syrelle and Orynthia, and his instincts screamed at him a fraction of a fraction of a second after he slammed into the wall.
He vanished, and a spear slammed into where he was, piercing a hole through the wall and destroying it in the process.
Syrelle scowled as she removed her spear from the wall and looked at Thalos who had appeared directly behind Jeremy and taken him hostage.
Corey and Pamela were the first amongst their group to notice that Jeremy was being held hostage, and they had intrigued expressions on their face when they saw this.
"Stop!" Thalos shouted while placing a dagger dangerously close to Jeremy's neck.
"Jeremy!" Elizabeth Keen screamed in disbelief and fear, causing the expressions of Rorik, Caesar, and Mathias to change drastically when they saw what had happened.
Syrelle and Orynthia were about to continue attacking, but they stopped when they saw Jeremy in Thalos' grasp.
"You traitorous brother. How low have you fallen that you'd hold somebody captive?" Syrelle said with a cold expression as lightning flashed across her body.
"You want to kill me, and you've not even given me a chance to explain myself!" Thalos shouted with anger, and then he looked at his mother.
He was about to speak, but Olynthia cut him off.
"Don't you have any shame, Thalos? A Silver Elf does not hold hostages."
Thalos looked at Olynthia with a scowl, and placed his dagger closer to Jeremy's neck.
"You attacked me without even allowing me to defend myself! Even mother has not attacked me yet!"
"Just because I haven't attacked you, does not mean that I won't."
Thalos' expression drastically changed the moment he heard his mother's words. He looked at her in disbelief, and he wanted to say so many things, but he eventually closed his eyes and released a sigh.
He opened them, and then his expression became calm.
"I didn't betray you or our people. That formation..." He gestured at the mirror in the air that was still showing lots of invaders stepping out of the portal in his room.
His pupils trembled slightly when he saw the scene.
"That formation was not placed there by me. I didn't put it there. I am being framed, and just because that formation is there does not mean that I'm the culprit. Somebody. Anybody could have put that formation in my room!"
Corey frowned slightly when he heard the prince's words, and saw his expression. After giving it a thought, his eyes flashed, and a second later... his frown deepened.
'Now, this is interesting.'
Just as Corey had this thought, Queen Nerith spoke.
"I know. But how do you explain this?"
She waved her hand, and the scene in the mirror changed.
It was no longer showing Thalos' room, but the corridor outside his room. And in that corridor, golden armored individuals holding their helmets could be seen, allowing everybody to see that these individuals were actually Silver Elves.
They stood on both sides of the corridor, acting as guards that were welcoming the invaders into the royal palace, and they made no attempt to stop the individuals.
Corey, Pamela, Jeremy, and the others were confused when they saw the golden armored Silver Elves, but Syrelle and Orynthia's expression changed drastically when they saw the golden armored Silver Elves.
"Thalos! You traitor!"
Syrelle shouted with an enraged expression, and Orynthia's sword howled like the wind.
Meanwhile, Thalos' expression was one of confusion and disbelief as he looked at the golden armored Silver Elves in shock.
"No. No. No. This cannot be possible. But how?"
"As you can see, Thalos. Those are your personal elite guards. They are the people you brought up from scratch and chose to be in charge of your protection. They are the people that follow ONLY your bidding... Or am I wrong, Thalos?"
Thalos looked at his mother with a confused, lost, and horrified expression. Despair filled his face, and although his mind was filled with so many thoughts of confusion, he knew that his life was in danger.
There could be doubts about his innocence with only the presence of the formation. But with his personal elite guards allowing the invaders to enter the palace without stopping them?
There was no way for him to prove his innocence.
Just like his mother told him, they answered only to him and him alone. Even his mother and father could not order them to do their bidding.
'I need to escape.'
Just as he had this thought, his instincts screamed at him, but before he could react, his vision swam, and he found himself slammed into the wall.
BANG!!!
