Chapter 984: 981: I Remember!
As Corey walked behind Jeremy in the corridor of the royal palace, he was observing Jeremy intently, to make sure that he was not a threat to his life.
Despite the fact that Jeremy was a Tier 4 and was a lot weaker than him, he was not going to be careless and underestimate Jeremy.
For all he knew, this might not even be Jeremy and might be an Immortal disguised as Jeremy.
There were so many assumptions he had in his mind as to the strange behaviour of Jeremy, but he had no idea which was correct.
However, what he knew he had to was not to be careless just because he chose to underestimate Jeremy.
"Hmm?"
Corey suddenly noticed something from Jeremy because he had been observing him for some time, and he would have noticed this a long time ago if he had not been looking out for something odd and wrong about Jeremy.
Jeremy heard the sound of surprise he made, and he turned back.
"What's the problem?"
Corey narrowed his eyes slightly as a flash of confusion and slight disbelief appeared in his eyes.
"Your breathing... You're... a lot better in the breathing technique I taught you."
Jeremy's eyes brightened with pride and joy when he heard his words, and he gave Corey the first genuine smile he had since he entered the throne room.
"I practiced a lot after we went out separate ways."
Corey was truly speechless after hearing Jeremy's words, and for the first three seconds, he did not know what to say.
"I can see that. Keep it up, and you might just master it and let it become a part of you."
Jeremy's smile brightened the more, and he rubbed his nose. "It won't take me long. Trust me."
'And that is exactly the problem. I expected it to take you three years or a year at least before you even reached this stage since you're not talented.'
'The Breathing Technique is not a low level technique that anybody can just learn, and since I modified it, it's more powerful than the Breathing Technique I bought from the Underworld.'
'But how long has it been since I taught him?... Almost twenty four hours?'
'There's absolutely no way somebody with his talent learned the Breathing Technique in less than a day. Absolutely no way.'
'He's hiding a secret... An ability that's related to his Hero Class which enables him to learn skills at a fast rate?'
'But no... That should not be possible, right? Or he'll be a lot stronger than he currently is.'
'Or maybe not?'
Corey shook his head and decided to stop thinking about Jeremy's secret since it was putting more strain on his already strained mind.
Some minutes later, they appeared before the door that led to the dining room, and Jeremy looked around once again with a deep frown.
Corey had to ask again seeing Jeremy's reaction."What's wrong? You've seem on edge ever since."
Jeremy placed his hand on the wooden door, and shook his head with a slight frown.
"I don't know. Everything seems wrong."
Corey frowned. "Wrong?"
"I can't explain it." Jeremy exhaled softly while opening the door. "Now that I think about it, shouldn't there be guards around here?"
Corey frowned when he heard that, and then his eyes immediately landed on a blood stain that was at the bottom of the door.
The doors to the dining room opened, and what they both saw, shook them.
Especially Corey.
His pupils shrank and trembled furiously, and he stopped breathing for a moment.
At the center of the dining room, and seated on their chairs were Kiefer, Selene, Willow, Elizabeth, Rorik, Mathias, and Caesar... all with their throats slit.
"What?"
Jeremy took a step back, and then his instincts screamed at him.
Through his senses that had been enhanced by Corey's Breathing Technique, he was able to perceive an attack coming from above him.
And because of his enhanced strength, he was able to react to it.
Clang!
His sword, Aurelius, appeared in his hand as he swung it to the ceiling above him, blocking a dagger that nearly pierced his skull from above.
He locked eyes with a black masked individual whose eyes were as cold as ice, and Jeremy roared as he swung his Aurelius with full strength, sending the man back.
'I finally survived!'
Just as he had this thought, he heard a groan come from behind him, and he turned.
He saw another black clothed man wearing a black mask fall on the ground with a deep cut on his chest, which eventually took his life.
Jeremy was extremely shaken by this.
"Two? There's more than one person?"
Corey heard this, and he looked at Jeremy with narrowed eyes.
If not for the fact that he had been wary of his surroundings and Jeremy especially, he would not have been able to react as quickly as he did, and he would have suffered some injuries.
Maybe even died in the process if he had not been careful.
He looked at the corpse on the floor, and he frowned deeply. He couldn't sense a single bit of aura from the corpse despite having killed him.
If he was still alive and was using a skill or technique to hide his aura and presence, he would understand. But for his aura to still be absent even after death, it was baffling to Corey.
'But with the physical strength I sensed when I held him, he's a Tier 6.'
Corey frowned, and then he looked at Jeremy who had a shaken expression as he stared at the corpse at his feet.
"What's going on?" Corey asked, and Jeremy looked at him.
He saw Jeremy having a complicated expression, and then his lips parted open to speak.
But before any words could come out from his mouth, Corey's instincts screamed at him and his eyes widened in shock.
He saw a blood red spear appear directly in front of Jeremy, and before Jeremy could react, it tore through his heart with full force and also pierced Corey's right lung before he could even react, nailing him to the ground.
"Garggh!"
Corey grunted as blood poured out from his mouth and his chest in copious amount.
He looked at the blood red spear, and his head began throbbing once again the moment he saw the spear.
He grabbed it and attempted to pull it out, but as he did so, his eyes widened as he suddenly remembered everything.
'I remember!'
But just as he had this thought, the world stopped and time froze.
