Chapter 985: 982: How Many Times? [Bonus]
"Mother, may I speak?"
Queen Nerith looked at her daughter and nodded. "You may."
Syrelle shifted her gaze to Corey. "You make all these promises but it seems you're forgetting that you're just one man. You don't seem to be a king, and you're definitely not the Progenitor of your world so you don't have the right to give our people a place to stay."
"As for your promise in siding with us in the eventual war against major powers of the universe, it has no value."
"Sure you might be special. A Tier 3 being able to fight Tier 6s is definitely unheard of, and I'm sure you're going to be an extremely powerful figure in the future. But that's that... In the future."
"For all we know, you might die today, tomorrow, or whenever. The point is that you might die before you're able to become an extremely powerful figure that can actually help us to win against our enemies."
"And if you die, and our knowledge is passed on to the powers supporting you. We'll be at a severe loss."
"So, you telling us that you'll support us in the war is us taking a massive risk."
Corey remained silent as he looked at Syrelle with a somewhat lost gaze as she spoke.
Syrelle, Queen Nerith, Olynthia, Thalos, Pamela, Kiefer, Selene, and Willow could see that Corey's attention was not here.
To them, he seemed lost and out of it, and his allies were worried, but Queen Nerith and her daughters were confused as to why Corey seemed lost all of a sudden.
"Also, you're not the first... New Earthling to make us a similar offer."
Syrelle frowned as she spoke since she was getting no reaction from Corey, making it seem like she was talking to a doll or a dead person.
"Is there a problem? Or do you believe I'm not just worth your time?" Syrelle asked with a scowl, and Corey remained unresponsive.
She was about to reprimand Corey once again, but Corey's eyes slowly fluttered open and he looked around with a slight furrow of his brows.
"Hmm?""
Syrelle looked at Corey with a cold expression. "Seems you finally deem it fit to respond to me."
Corey tilted his head slightly with a baffled expression, but it didn't take him more than three seconds to responsd.
"Sorry about that. I was in a sort of trance, but I heard all that you said."
Syrelle was slightly taken aback by Corey's words, and she looked at Corey with slight surprise.
"You were in a trance? How could you have been in a trance in this sort of a situation?"
Corey shrugged. "Maybe it's cause I'm that talented."
Syrelle's lips twitched, and then she scoffed.
"As I was saying, Jeremy Draker and his companions offered us a similar offer."
Just as Syrelle said these words, the doors to the throne room opened, and Syrelle's eyes lit up.
"Seems they're back."
Corey turned and looked at the doors, and when he saw Jeremy Draker and his companions walk through the doors, his eyes flashed with a glint.
Jeremy's eyes flashed with a baffled and also suspicious light as he laid his eyes on Corey.
'Again?'
He thought, but then he shook his head and approached Corey with the same fake smile he had practiced so many times to the point where only those like Corey with extremely high perceptions could see the falseness in his smile.
"Long time no see, Ryan."
"I know right, long time no see, King Jeremy."
Corey did not refuse the hug, and he hugged back the King of Miracles. However, he whispered into his ears.
"We need to talk."
Jeremy's pupils shrunk, and when he stopped hugging Corey, he looked at him with an extremely baffled expression.
He wanted to say and ask a million questions, but he knew that this was not the right time and the right place.
'What is going on? And what is he? Why is he different and not affected?'
As Jeremy had these thoughts, he shook his head slightly and gave Corey the same fake smile.
"What are you guys doing here?"
Corey smiled back. "I think you might have an idea what I'm doing here."
Jeremy felt his heart skip multiple beats, and he nearly took a step back in shock.
Corey chuckled softly, and then he looked at the Queen.
"Your Majesty. I'm feeling a little bit under the weather, and since I've finally met my friend after a long time, I'd love it if I could catch up with him."
Corey placed his arm around Jeremy's neck with a smile.
"We have to catch up on a lot of things. Like cycles and about certain past events which we both experienced together."
Jeremy's pupils shook the moment Corey said these words, and his mind became a mess.
Frowns emerged on the faces of Syrelle, Olynthia, and Queen Nerith when they saw Jeremy's shaken expression.
"Jeremy?" Syrelle called out, but she received no answer from Jeremy.
"Jeremy?" She called out again.
Corey shook Jeremy when he saw that he was lost in his train of thoughts just like he had been a few minutes ago.
"Hmm?"
"The Crown Princess is asking you a question."
Corey gestured at Syrelle, and Jeremy looked at her.
"Jeremy, is that true? What this man says? Is it true?" Syrelle asked with a concerned frown, and Jeremy looked at Corey who gave him a little smile.
"Yes. We have a lot to discuss." He looked back at Syrelle. " Caesar will tell you all that he has to tell you."
Everybody looked at Corey and Jeremy with strange and baffled expressions, but Corey did not bother with them.
"Can we please get a room where we can both talk in private?"
Corey asked Queen Nerith, and she nodded while looking at Corey strangely.
"The guards will direct you there."
"Thank you."
Without waiting for another second, he walked out of the throne room while dragging Jeremy with him, leaving behind a lot of stunned expressions and curious minds.
Meanwhile, after they got to the room given to them by the Queen, Corey created a runic barrier of silence and isolation, and then he looked at Jeremy with an extremely solemn gaze.
"How many times?"
