Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 900: 897: Swallow

Death's expression was utterly calm and indifferent despite the approaching red beam of light which had twice the power of its original due to Full Counter.

In the blink of a Tier 6's eye, the red beam slammed into Death who remained seated on his throne.

A terrifying explosion shook not just the Dying City, but the entire world itself.

Corey was flung many miles away, and if not for him solidifying the space around him and also manipulating the wind runes around him, he was certain that he would have been blown to the end of the world.

Despite his grievous injuries, his blood soaked eyes were fixed on Death.

Despite the crimson light that had flooded the entire Dying City, and most especially the area around Death, he was able to see what was happening.

And what he saw was something he did not like at all.

The red beam of light had slammed into Death, but a transparent spherical barrier surrounded Death, and the red beam could not destroy or bypass the barrier at all despite it being twice as powerful as the original.

'I knew about the barrier, but I didn't know it was that powerful. That power was surely enough to disintegrate a Tier 7... right?'

Corey's lips twitched.

'Regardless, that power was enough to kill every single Tier 6 I have encountered. It should even be enough to kill the Throne of the Shattered Dimension of the Old Ones.'

'But his barrier was able to block the attack with ease?'

Corey released a soft sigh.

'It's a good thing I didn't bother wasting my energy and risking my life to attack him... But does that mean that I'll have to use that plan since this clearly did not work?'

'But that plan is more dependent on luck than anything else. If it doesn't work... I might truly die.'

Corey's expression became extremely solemn. Meanwhile, Death's expression was utterly indifferent and bored as he stared at the dissipating red beam.

The red beam dissipated completely, and then Death looked up with disdain.

"I'll make sure you pay for your disobedience."

Corey raised a brow, and he looked up. For a moment, he seemed to sense fear emanating from the eyes above him.

Just as he shifted his gaze back to Death, his pupils constricted because he saw a small tentacle bringing the crown to Death.

'Ah, fuck.'

Corey exhaled deeply as he saw the tentacle place the crown of black bones on Death's head.

He had no choice but to watch this happen because his body was badly damaged, and he needed at least a minute to reach the optimal condition that will enable him to prevent Death from getting his crown.

But he didn't even have a ten seconds, talk less of a minute.

A powerful chilling gust of wind was released from the body of Death the moment his crown was placed on his head, making it seem a lid had just been opened.

Death exhaled deeply, and then he moved his arms and neck. He stood and observed his hands several times before a light smile appeared on his lips.

"Hmm. Feels so much better."

He looked at Corey, and Corey's lips twitched.

"You can't just let me go, can you?"

Corey forced a smile, and Death scoffed with a smirk.

He stretched his hand, and Corey's eyes widened when he saw a translucent hand appear around him.

He tried to move, but his badly injured body could not react quickly.

"Ugh."

A groan escaped his lips as he felt his bones getting crushed the more, and a second later, he was pulled toward Death.

He tried to fight back, but he failed.

"Mortal."

Death's voice drifted into his ears as he was brought directly before his face.

Corey stared into its extremely black eyes, and then he smiled.

"Death? I believe we started off on the wrong foot."

Death chuckled softly with a dangerous smile.

"You're just like him."

Corey tilted his head slightly. "Who?"

"Your ancestor. The Progenitor of all Paragons."

Death scoffed, and a flash of killing intent appeared in his eyes for just a brief second.

"The first time I met him was something I can never forget. He joked around a lot, and he never took anyone seriously. No matter how powerful the person was."

Death frowned slightly.

"All you Paragons are so arrogant to the point that you never take anything or anyone seriously. You always believe that no matter what, you'll come out on top."

"And the most annoying thing is that you guys always come out on top. Even the Supremes are not always as successful as you guys."

Corey smiled lightly. "Well... It's not my fault that you're neither a Supreme or Paragon."

Death chuckled. "That won't be for long. From the moment I devour you, I'll gain the talents of the Paragons from you, and my status will rise in all of existence. I would even be greater than the Defying Paragon and the All Father."

Corey raised a brow, and a baffled expression appeared on his face.

'You want to use the talents of a race to surpass the primogenitor of that race? I've never heard of something so absurd and insane.'

Although he had the urge to say these words out loud, and comment on how foolish the words of Death sounded to him, he chose to remain silent.

"You should be honored, mortal. For you'll be one of the reasons why I'll ascend to the peak of power and displace the Defying Paragon and the All Father. Your name would be forever etched in my kingdom."

The moment Death said these words, his mouth opened, and to Corey's surprise and disbelief, his mouth became wide enough to swallow him whole.

It was absolutely horrifying to look at.

Despite staring at the literal jaws of death, Corey was calm, and his eyes flashed with determination and focus.

His eyes flashed with a dark poisonous greenish light, and Death's eyes widened in disbelief when he felt his body freeze.

Corey's changed, and his Eyes of Omniscience became his Tri-Pupil Eyes.

The golden triangular pupils glowed, and a finger appeared directly inside the mouth of Death.

This finger was a Nightmare Finger, and the moment Death swallowed, a horrific reaction occurred.
