Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 901: 898: Call Me Death

From the moment Corey entered the well and he laid eyes on Archmage Kael, he had known that he could not hope to win the upcoming battle through conventional means or without a plan.

Although he had become a lot more powerful after increasing the proficiency of many of his skills to the Transcendent level, the amount of danger he felt from Archmage Kael, the throne, the crown of black bones, and the dead tree itself was a lot.

He felt more danger from them compared to what he felt from the Throne of the Shattered Dimension of the Old Ones, and he knew that he could not win with just his skills.

He had no idea what Tier the Archmage and the dead tree was equivalent to since it seemed like they were not connected to the Universal System at all.

Record could not bring out their stats for him, and he had to go into a battle without knowing the full capabilities of the enemy.

Knowing this, he knew that to win the battle, he had to use an unconventional method in an unconventional way.

Poison.

The coffee he made and gave the Archmage in quiet a lot of quantity had poison mixed into it. It was one of the many things and creations of his he had poisoned in his spare time.

The poison was called Thousand Veins Locking Poison, and it was scentless, colorless, and tasteless.

The Thousand Veins Locking Poison could lock every vein and meridian in the body, and after obtaining the knowledge of Virendell, he knew that there were both physical and spiritual veins in one's body.

And the Thousand Veins Locking Poison could lock every single one of them in a person's body, and once all the veins were locked, the result was paralysis and if left for too long without attention... Death.

However, this was dependent on the Tier and power of the individual.

Obviously, the higher the Tier of an individual, the less effective the poison would be on the person.

Apart from the effect the poison had on the individual, there was one other unique thing about the poison.

It could affect even Immortals if they were given enough dosage and if the individual chose not to act on it or remove the poison from his or her system.

He had modified the poison using his Poison Manipulation and also his knowledge of poison, and it was this modified poison he put in the coffee.

A single cup of coffee had enough dosage of Thousand Veins Locking Poison to affect a Tier 6 in a minute at most. And Archmage Kael had drank four cups of coffee.

With how powerful the Archmage was, the modified Thousand Veins Locking Poison would not be able to affect him unless he drank about eight cups of coffee.

However, Corey did not need that.

Four cups of coffee was enough for his plan, and with what he was staring at, he was right.

After the dead tree of flesh and bones were absorbed into the body of Archmage Kael which then led to the descent of Death into his body, the effectiveness of the poison reduced drastically because the Archmage's body had experienced a change which he could not understand.

But once again... this was not a problem for Corey.

With his Poison Manipulation which was at the Transcendent level of skill proficient, he could control the Thousand Veins Locking Poison, and he had made sure to concentrate the poison at several key acupoints in the Archmage's body.

To be more accurate, he targeted the area between the thumb and index finger, above his ankle, his achilles tendon, the highest point of his shoulders, and also the upper part of his spine.

He targeted these key areas with the Thousand Veins Locking Poison, and to his relief, it had worked splendidly.

The moment Death attempted to devour him, he had activated the poison, and for just three seconds, Death had been frozen.

Death had not been able to sense the poison because it had been rooted deeply in the body of the Archmage, and this became Death's undoing.

Although the poison was not going to last for more than three seconds, three seconds was all he needed for the second part of his plan.

The Nightmare Finger.

The Nightmare Finger was the last part of his plan to win against Death, but it was a plan that was based on luck, hope, and speculation.

Death was an Old One, and the Nightmare Fingers he had were also the fingers of an Old One, but he had no idea who this Old One was.

He had no idea how powerful the Old One was, and most importantly, he had no idea if the Old One was greater than Death.

By all means, Death is meant to be greater than any other Old One since he called himself literally Death which should be the end of all living and non-living things.

But Corey had a nagging feeling that the Old One was not truly Death, but was an Old One who had somehow gained the title of DEATH.

Although he had nothing to prove his theory, and for all he knew, he might be terribly wrong.

Heck, he was just a mortal who had not even gone outside his home planet.

Despite not knowing much, he was banking on there being a terrible effect and reaction from Death consuming a finger of an Old One.

Corey had no idea what was going on, but surely there must be a reaction.

Right?

Worst case scenario he imagined was that the finger would make Death stronger, and if that happened...

Well... he had experienced far more than his childhood fantasies could ever dream of.

"AAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH"

But luck favored him, and he got his desired reaction.

The roar of Death shook the entire world, and Corey watched as ripples appeared on the skin of Death, and then his bones began to shatter, reform, and pierce out of his skin in numerous places. Even his skull was not spared.

Black lights erupted from his body, and Death's body began to balloon and then deflate in a horrifying manner.

"AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Death roared in pain and fury, and tentacles made out of bones appeared from his skull, abdomen, and back.

They ripped out his arms and legs, and as they were flung into the distance, they exploded into a light of gore.

Corey's eyes flashed when he saw this, and he quickly increased the distance between him and Death as far as possible.

He had a terrible feeling.

"I CURSE YOU MORTAL!!!! I CURSE YOU!!!!"

Death's roar of fury and madness shook the world, and Corey stopped moving and glanced at Death.

"Call me Death, Old One. Since I literally killed Death."

Death's murderous gaze of madness exploded in so much fury that it could drown the entire universe. He roared once more, and then...

Corey's eyes widened. "Shit!"

A thick sphere of hexagon barriers, earth, and metal surrounded him.

And a second later...

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
