Chapter 890: 887: Heavenly Crystals
As Corey calmly drank from his cup of coffee, Archmage Kael looked at Corey with a visible light of curiosity and interest.
But hidden within the depths of his eyes was greed and desire which Corey could sense. However, despite sensing it, his expression was utterly calm.
"I sincerely doubt you know how unique and baffling your body is."
Archmage Kael spoke after taking another sip of his coffee.
"A person's body would naturally absorb the mana from the surroundings, no matter how minute."
"It's common knowledge that to develop one's mana core, one has to absorb the mana from the surroundings using a cultivation technique. The cultivation technique determines so many things like the speed of absorption, efficiency of refinement, and the quality of the mana absorbed."
Archmage Kael furrowed his brows slightly as he gazed at Corey.
"I can sense a rather... strange cultivation technique on you. It's a cultivation technique that utilizes all the elements, both the natural and unnatural elements. Strange, but there are lots of other strange things about you."
Corey calmly raised a brow at the words of the Archmage, and the Archmage coughed.
"As I was saying before I got distracted, your body is extremely strange because your body is not absorbing the mana of the world."
"So how do you develop your mana core? How do you regenerate the mana in your mana core? From what I know, a mana core cannot produce mana on its own... Especially for somebody at your power level."
Archmage Kael paused as he gazed at his floating cup of coffee with a pondering light in his eyes.
Three seconds later, he glanced at Corey before shifting his gaze back to his cup of coffee.
He took a sip. "From the spell you used earlier, I know that you have a tremendous amount of mana. So much mana to the point that I'm almost baffled that your body has not imploded because of it."
"And that's another strange thing about you... Your mana."
"I can count the number of times I've sensed and seen such quality of mana before. Your mana is so pure, so free of impurities, so dense, so free-flowing, so poisonous, and so... unfathomable."
"It's as unfathomable and mysterious as the whole of existence, and it's so bloody... baffling you see."
Archmage Kael looked at Corey with a smile, and Corey smiled back.
"And if I remember correctly, and I am... There are a handful of people and locations I've met and encountered that have mana that is similar to yours."
Archmage Kael paused, and the air suddenly became heavy and thick with tension.
"So tell me, boy. You have a heavenly crystal in you right?"
Corey furrowed his brows deeply with a baffled expression. "A heavenly crystal?"
Archmage Kael's stoic expression remained the same. "A crystal that's said to have fallen into our universe from the very heavens themselves. Nobody knows how many crystals there are, but once a free crystal is found, terrible wars are waged."
A deadly crimson light flashed in the Archmage's eyes, and Corey's frown deepened slightly.
"Wars that could end eras, define eras, and begin new eras in the universe were waged because of these crystals."
"Immortals, Sages, Archmages, Gods, and even Demon Gods are slaughtered in the thousands because of these wars."
"Nobody is safe during these wars, and only the strongest, those who can adapt quickly, and the luckiest are able to survive these wars."
"Everybody feared these wars, but the eventual winner... The person that comes into possession of the heavenly crystal would with nigh-certainty become an extremely terrifying figure in the universe."
Corey listened with rapt attention at the words of the Archmage. Although the Archmage was not giving him information that was truly of value since he knew just how powerful and dangerous the Infinity Crystals in him were.
He already guessed that Archmage Kael was referring to the Infinity Crystals as Heavenly Crystals, and though he had no idea why, he had some thoughts.
'It could be because he and the past elites of the universe had no idea of its true name, or maybe it could be because of something else.'
'But I'm certain that Infinity Crystals are the right name for them. The Paragon Ancestor called them that, and I'm very certain that the Paragon Ancestor is much stronger than this Archmage before me.'
The words of the Archmage was not truly helpful to him because he already knew just how dangerous and terrifying a war for a single Infinity Crystal could be.
Although it wasn't helpful to him, it was still interesting to listen to.
"What was so special about a heavenly crystal?"
He asked out of pure curiosity, and Archmage Kael looked at him with an expression that clearly said- 'Are you stupid?'
"What was not special about a heavenly crystal?"
"A heavenly crystal could grant one an infinite quantity of mana. The mana is also said to be the purest mana one could ever come across. And if one meditates and analyzes the mana, they would discover the mysteries of heaven. If one is able to successfully integrate with a heavenly crystal, their constitution would forever change, and their talents would be at the peak of the universe."
"Nobody had ever been able to discover all the mysteries and uses of a heavenly crystal, but it was desired by every single body that knew of its existence. It was the number one priceless treasure in all of existence."
'And I have three in me.' Corey's lips almost twitched, but he controlled himself.
He suddenly recalled the image of the Supreme Ancestor that appeared in the skies of New Earth when the apocalypse began.
'Well... There are also fragments of over ten Infinity Crystals in my world. So yeah... They're all around me I guess.'
Corey shrugged mentally, and then he looked at the Archmage who was barely controlling himself from emitting the greed in his eyes.
Corey scoffed inwardly, and then he asked another random question.
"Have you ever heard of the God of Shadows?"
