Chapter 535 534: That's Not All
THRUM!
BANG!
As Corey's axe swung at the jagged, obsidian-like barb, an extremely loud sound resounded across the shell of the crab-like Goliathspawn.
Corey gritted his teeth as the edge of the blade of his axe made a loud screeching sound as it collided with the obsidian-like barb.
"Argh."
Corey groaned, and then he tried to deflect the barb to the side, however, the force was too much for him to handle and he lost his footing.
'Shit!'
Corey cursed inwardly as he flew with his Genesis Armament in his left hand. Through the bird's eye view of his Eyes of Omniscience, he could see the jagged, obsidian barb which was attached to a tentacle approach him at a terrifying speed.
'I can't dodge it.'
Just as Corey was prepared to twist his body so as to suffer a non-lethal injury, a figure flashed in front of him, and at a speed he could barely see, the figure swung his right arm.
For a moment, there was silence, and it seemed like time had stopped. However, in the next second, the obsidian-like barb fell off from the tentacle.
Black blood dripped from the severed tentacle, and the tentacle writhed in pain as blood continuously fell to the ground from it.
Corey spun in the air and landed on his feet. He glanced at the obsidian-like barb, and then the writhing tentacle, before finally shifting his gaze to the individual who had cut off the jagged barb from the tentacle.
Ryan.
"Thanks."
Ryan glanced at Corey and nodded. He then shifted his gaze to the Tentacled Scourge with a solemn expression.
"I was surprised you were able to react to the sudden attack of the Tentacled Scourge. I honestly thought you were going to turn into a corpse with how fast and sudden its attack was."
"I guess I was lucky."
Corey said with a stoic expression, and Ryan glanced at him with a tinge of suspicion in his eyes.
Although he had a lot he wanted to say, because of their situation, he chose not to say anything. However, from his expression, everybody could see that he clearly did not believe Corey.
Corey knew this, but he didn't care.
He shifted his gaze from Ryan to the Tentacled Scourge, and he could not help but frown deeply.
One of the Tentacled Scourge was to make people see hallucinations of their worst fears or in other manipulate their minds.
When Ryan told him of this ability of the Tentacled Scourge, he was not truly bothered about it because of two certain skills.

His Mental Manipulation Resistance and Fear Resistance were at Lv8 and Lv7 respectively, and from what Corey knew. After the Universal System underwent some changes, having a Lv7 resistance meant that only skills that could affect Tier 8s and above would be able to affect the individual.
This meant that with a Mental Manipulation Resistance that was Lv8, only skills that could affect Tier 9s and above would be able to affect him.
Not Tier 8, but Tier 9!
It was the same for his Fear Resistance. Only skills that could affect Tier 8s and above, and only beings that were comparable to Tier 8s and above would be able to make him feel fear towards their aura and state of existence.
The reason why he had such high resistance was because of the thousands of lives he lived and experienced in his First Tribulation of Hell.
Corey thought that with such high resistance, he did not need to fear the mental manipulation ability of the Tentacled Scourge.
However, even with such high resistance levels, he had lost consciousness for a fraction of a second because the Tentacled Scourge had used its skill on him.
The mere fact that he lost consciousness for a fraction of a second due to the skill of the Tentacled Scourge shook him.
He was certain that if the level of his Mental Manipulation Resistance was low, he would have truly lost consciousness right there and then, and his fate would be to be a corpse in the following second.
Another reason why Corey was not afraid of the mental manipulation abilities of the Tentacled Scourge was also because of his unique mental space.
He had countless Stars of Consciousness and a Cosmic Soul. With these two, even if he was subjected to a mental manipulation skill, Corey was certain that he would be able to find a way to escape.
That is if the skill was not used by an extremely powerful being.
'Because it's a Tier 5, I thought I didn't have to worry about its skills to cause hallucinations and affect the mind, but it's obvious that the Tentacled Scourge is not normal.'
'No, every single abomination here and in the Shattered Dimension is not normal.'
Corey furrowed his brows deeply, and then he stared at the colossal head that was the Tentacled Scourge's true body.
'Whose head does that belong to? What the fuck is wrong with this shattered dimension? Why is everything disgusting, chaotic, and full of madness?'
'Who the fuck are the Old Ones that created such a dimension of madness? And why the fuck am I going through all this just because I'm a Paragon?'
'Damn it all… I'm not even a full-fledged Paragon, I'm just a young Demi-Paragon.'
Corey exhaled deeply, and then he glanced at Ryan. Ryan noticed his gaze and glanced at him also.
"Do you have a way to leave this place? The longer we stay here, the more difficult it'll be for us to leave."
'I can't leave, and I need to make sure all of you are here to fight these Abominations and maybe even the Power who is the Queen.'
Just as Corey had this thought, he saw something through the bird's eye view of his Eyes of Omniscience, and his lips could not help but twitch into a wry smile as he looked to his right.
"I think we're too late for that," Corey said with a low but solemn voice, and everybody became confused.
"What are you-?"
Ryan's words were cut off when he saw the sky become dark. He looked up, and when he did, he almost regretted that he did.
Up in the skies were numerous winged creatures with hauntingly beautiful forms and faces shrouded in mist.
"Dogshit! Skybound Sirens?! Are they not meant to be in the sky?!"
Ryan shouted with a baffled and tense expression as he stared at the darkened sky. Everybody's gazes became extremely solemn, however, Corey's lips could not help but twitch as he observed everything that was going on through his Eyes of Omniscience.
'That's not all.'
