Siblings with No Life Get Summoned to Another World as Detectives

Chapter 40: Diary (PART 2)

The screech of metal echoed through the room as Kai slowly turned it and pushed the door open.

Inside, Vorenhart awaited, seated at a table, body relaxed. Yuki stood to the side, in her delicate pink skirt, which looked almost out of place in the serious atmosphere.

"Well…" Vorenhart began, with a creepy, confident smile. "Can I have my diary…?" he asked immediately.

Kai lifted his head and looked down at him. "And what do you plan to do with the diary?" Kai asked, mimicking his smile.

"Just give it to me…" Vorenhart said. His voice was completely calm and emotionless.

Kai's gaze locked onto Vorenhart's, a storm of unspoken threats and suppressed fury crackling between them.

"And what are you doing here?" Mei's voice was sharp, eyes locked on Yuki.

"I don't have to justify myself to you…" Yuki's tone was ice-cold.

Voren's hand shot out toward Kai, demanding the diary with a quiet menace.

Kai smiled and handed the diary to his sister, then looked back at the president. "No, not until you tell us what you plan to do with it," Kai said, looking Vorenhart straight in the eye.

Vorenhart decided to answer honestly. "To summon the Calamities and rule the world, of course!"

"Just as I thought… Then I won't give it to you…" Kai said in an unusually polite tone.

Vorenhart smiled, already knowing Kai would react this way, though he somehow did not want it to come to this. "Yuki… I want that diary…"

Yuki nodded, then activated her Shinka Core and instantly appeared in front of Kai. Her fist shot straight at his face.

Kai raised his hand and blocked the strike. The force was strong, pushing him a step back.

"You are fast…" he said, as Yuki performed a backflip, her pink skirt fluttering mid-air, revealing her pink panties. She landed lightly, her shirt clinging to her body from sweat, accentuating her shape.

Without pause, Yuki dashed again — low, sliding across the floor, trying to trip him. Kai jumped, but she twisted and sent an elbow into his ribs.

Kai grunted but did not falter. He grabbed her arm, twisted it, and tried to throw her over his shoulder.

Instead of falling, Yuki used her speed — pushing off his shoulder with her foot, her pink skirt rising again as she spun in the air and kicked him in the chest.

Kai bounced back but stayed on his feet. "Heh…" he smiled, wiping blood from his lip.

Yuki dashed straight at him, landing a flurry of strikes — fists, elbows, palms, and knees. Kai managed to block some, but a few got through.

At the right moment, he stepped forward and struck her stomach with his palm, cutting off her attack. Yuki bent over, her shirt stretched across her chest as she gasped for air.

Quickly, she rolled back, got up, and raised her guard again. "You are quite a skilled opponent…" she said, breathing heavily, her cheeks flushed.

Kai didn't waste time. As Yuki attempted another dash, he used her momentum — sidestepped and grabbed her from behind, his arm firmly around her neck.

Yuki froze, her body twitching as she struggled, her pink skirt swinging just enough to reveal her smooth thighs. The thin shirt clung to her sweaty skin.

"You are done," Kai whispered, holding her tightly.

She abruptly tilted her head back. Her eyes met his from below, looking like she was pleading or utterly helpless. Her pink skirt fluttered as her body tensed, cheeks reddened from the effort and position.

But — while Kai thought he had everything under control, Yuki hid a barely noticeable smile behind that "cute" expression.

"There's something I didn't tell you…" Yuki began, her voice soft, almost fragile.

"What?" Kai asked, curiously.

"I'm a boy…" Yuki whispered, drawing a knife strapped under his shirt.

"Watch out!" Mei shouted, having been focused on the fight, clutching the diary tightly.

"Huh?" Kai froze for a moment, his mind blank when the word 'boy' reached his ears.

Yuki suddenly plunged the knife into Kai's side. Blood sprayed onto the floor, and his grip on Yuki's neck loosened, stunned by the attack's force.

Yuki freed himself and, using the shock, drove the knife straight into Kai's head. It struck precisely, lethally, killing him instantly.

Kai collapsed to his knees, then slid face-first to the floor, as the world around him blurred and his breathing stopped.

"Kai!" Mei shouted, her heart racing wildly as she ran to her brother. She tried to protect him, lowering herself beside him, but Yuki was faster. With a single strike, he threw Mei to the ground, his foot pressing firmly on her neck, preparing to kill her too.

"No! Don't kill her!" Vorenhart shouted in an authoritative voice.

Yuki gently lifted his foot from Mei's neck and placed it on her back. "Hand over the diary!" he said, his voice calm but cold.

"But my brother!" Mei cried, her voice breaking as tears streamed down her face.

"Remember the deal?" Vorenhart asked coldly.

Mei sniffled quietly, swallowed, and whispered, "Yes…" Her voice was weak, almost a whisper.

"Why not hand over the diary and wish your brother alive?" he asked.

"Fine…" Mei said with a trembling voice, then raised the diary high.

Yuki gently took the diary from her hand and lifted his foot from her back, taking a few steps back before carefully placing it on the table.

Mei slowly stood, her entire body smeared with her brother's blood. It was warm and sticky. Her heart raced, but determination overpowered fear. "I… I want… my brother alive!" she shouted, without much thought.

Vorenhart stretched out his hand. "Let it be as she asked!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the room.

Kai's body convulsed violently, his limbs jerking as if worms squirmed beneath the skin. The blood that had pooled around him and splattered across Mei's clothes began crawling back, slick and warm, creeping up his arms and legs. His wounds pulsed, knitting together with a wet, grotesque squelch, as if each cut were chewing itself closed. Pus and clotted fragments mixed with the returning blood, coating his skin in a sickly sheen, the smell of iron and rot filling the air. His flesh bubbled unnaturally, swelling and twitching, as though something alive beneath the surface demanded to be reborn.

Mei collapsed to her knees, clutching her stomach, watching Kai come back to life, tears of relief streaming down her face.

"He'll need at least two hours…" Vorenhart said to Mei, his tone calm but cold. Then he turned to Yuki. "You've done well… Take us! It's time for me to rule the world!" he commanded.

Yuki placed her hand on Vorenhart's shoulder, her gaze firm and obedient, and then they both simply vanished.

Mei stood still, staring at the empty space where the two had been moments before. Her chest heaved rapidly. Slowly, she murmured, "We're… completely alone…"

"Vorenhart wants to summon the Calamities!" Elmyra shouted, bouncing on her chair. Her eyes were wide open, almost unrecognizable, and every breath she took trembled with panic.

All the other gods immediately turned to her, their facial expressions a mix of surprise and confusion, but no one spoke except Nytherra.

"Yes… that is the plan…" Nytherra finally said, her voice cold but carrying a sinister certainty that only amplified Elmyra's fear.

Elmyra shrugged, trying to calm her racing pulse. "But… he wants to… rule the world…" Her voice faltered, dropping in tone as she realized she was the only one losing control, while the other gods remained calm and motionless in their poses. Her panic echoed in the silence, reverberating through the grand hall.

"As I've already said, that's part of the plan!" Nytherra said, raising her voice as if trying to overpower Elmyra.

"But…" Elmyra started, her voice growing weaker, almost a whisper. "Everyone… everyone will die…"

"You don't care, do you?" Elmyra added at last, her voice trembling, but tinged with anger. Her eyes searched for any sign of empathy, but no one responded. The silence was almost cruel — everyone just sat there, calmly, coldly, minding their own business.

"Then I will stop him myself!" Elmyra shouted determinedly.

"Do not interfere!" Nytherra yelled, her voice sharp and authoritative, echoing through the room. "That is an order!"

Elmyra pouted. She stood rigidly, arms crossed over her chest, lips pressed into a tight little line, eyebrows furrowed in obvious anger.

WEEEOOO! WEEEOOO! WEEEOOO! WEEEOOO! WEEEOOO! WEEEOOO!

The loud, piercing sound of the siren broke the hall's silence, bouncing off the walls. Everyone sprang from their seats. Each god went their separate way, their glances briefly meeting and then vanishing, signaling the end of the meeting.

Elmyra rose slowly. Her small fists were clenched, and her eyes sparkled with a stubborn flame of rage. As she walked her path through the hall, dragging her overly long blue hair along the floor, she muttered under her breath, her voice quiet but full of determination. "I couldn't care less about Nytherra… I'm gonna wreck Vorenhart!"
