Chapter 39: Diary (PART 1)
"SMACK! SMACK! SMACK!" echoed the blows as Mei slammed her fist with all her strength against the cold, hard wall of the room. Each hit left a slight crack.
"Slow down... Watch your hand, don't overdo it..." said Kai in a gentle tone, a hint of concern in his voice.
Mei turned to him, a smile appearing on her face as if the pain meant nothing to her. "I'm fine…" she said shortly, then immediately turned back and continued striking. "SMACK!"
Kai crossed his arms, tilting his head slightly to the side. "What level are you?" he asked curiously.
Without stopping her blows, Mei glanced over her shoulder and, out of breath, replied, "Five… And you?"
Kai blinked. "Huh?" he asked, confused. "I'm only level three!"
"Too slow…" Mei panted as she threw her final punch. The wall cracked in a wave of dust, stones scattering across the floor. "Done…" she added, wiping the blood from her knuckles.
Kai approached the opening that had appeared before them, briefly examined it, and then stepped forward. His sister followed. On the other side lay a massive arena, bathed in a pale, unnatural light that seemed to come from everywhere. The air was heavy, choking with the stench of decay and death — the same scent they had felt in the cave.
In the stands, where cheers and laughter once echoed, lifeless bodies now sat. All the Elves were frozen in place, eyes wide open, throats frozen and covered in a layer of dark ice.
Kai held his breath, heart racing as he looked at the haunting scene before him. "What… happened here?"
"I don't know, but it looks like the prophecy came true…" his sister replied, gazing at the room above the stands.
Kai followed her gaze toward the royal box. "There… that's probably where the king should be," he said softly.
Mei nodded without a word and was the first to step onto the stairs leading upward. When they finally reached the top and opened the doors on the floor, in the center of the room they saw the king's body. His crown had been thrown aside, and his eyes were wide open, dead, frozen in an empty stare.
Kai stopped. "Who do you think… that voice was?" he asked slowly, eyes fixed on the king's body.
Mei shook her head. "I don't know…" she whispered.
After a few moments of pause, Kai suggested they head up to the surface. "Let's go up…"

"NO!!!" Elmyra screamed, pounding her fists on the table like a spoiled child. The stone trembled under her blows, her voice echoing throughout the room. "HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN!?"
Feloria crossed her legs slowly, leaning back in her seat. A half-smile appeared on her lips. Her eyes lazily scanned Elmyra.
"Mmhm…" she murmured, lowering her voice almost to a whisper, but still loud enough to resonate through the room. "It seems, my dear… that humans are stronger than Elves after all." Each word was drawn out seductively, stretching the syllables.
Elmyra immediately stopped her strikes and turned a furious glare at Feloria. Her eyes, moments ago full of tears and anger, now burned like flames. "How dare you…" she hissed through clenched teeth. In the next instant, she climbed onto the table, raising her staff high.
The crystal at the top of the staff glowed with intense blue light. Elmyra raised her hand, spreading her fingers, sparks shooting out and forming tiny blue spheres. She began to chant an incantation, her voice full of hatred and determination:
"By the powers of Holy Nytherre… let an explosion illuminate the tombs of these—!"
The air around her began to tremble, as if the room itself could not contain such power. Blue energy spiraled around her and the staff, forming a small vortex that lifted parchments into the air. Her voice grew deeper, more terrifying.
"And destroy the enemies—!" Elmyra shouted, but the words were left unfinished. Before she could complete the incantation, a shot rang out. A Nytherrin bullet pierced the silence, hitting Elmyra squarely in the forehead. Her body swayed, then flew to the side, knocked down by the force of the impact.
"SIT DOWN!" Nytherra thundered, her voice full of authority and disdain.
Elmyra staggered to her feet, blood running down her temple, but her gaze remained defiant. Her voice trembled as she shouted, "My people have been killed!"
Silence. Heavy, painful silence. Everyone around her lowered their gaze or remained motionless, mute and cold in the face of her pain. Her words did not provoke either compassion or anger.
Elmyra stared at them, eyes widening in disbelief. "You… you don't care…?" she asked in a voice now thin, almost broken. She had expected at least a denial, at least a glance. But she got nothing. Just a wall of cold indifference.
She lowered her gaze, shoulders trembling. Quietly, as if admitting something to herself, she muttered, "Somehow I knew you would be like this… but I still joined you… Maybe the power blinded me."
Slowly, she sat back in her seat. The anger was gone from her face, only emptiness remained. The silence in the room grew heavier. Finally, she whispered:
"I am the only… pureblood Elf."

The brother and sister emerged to the surface, eyes widening as they finally saw the sun after so long.
"Freedom…" Mei whispered softly. Her eyes shone, and her hands relaxed after hours of pounding the wall.
Kai smiled, but his gaze quickly shifted to something in the distance. Cyclone lay in its own trench, motionless. Kai glanced at Mei, then back to Cyclone, his heart skipping a beat when he spotted a familiar face in the distance.
A girl, walking on all fours.
"Kitty!" Kai shouted, his voice full of relief and joy. Without hesitation, he ran toward her.
As soon as he reached her, he knelt and hugged her, gently but firmly. "Why did you run…?" he asked. Then Kai noticed that Kitty was holding something in her mouth. "What's that?" He carefully took the object from her mouth. It was a diary.
"Well done, girl!" Kai said, then gently patted her head.
"Meow…" Lilith said, softly pretending to purr.
"Mei!" Kai called out, his voice full of joy, as he saw his sister appear in the distance.
Mei looked up and smiled as she saw her brother. Slowly, she began descending the small hill. "Coming…" she said loudly enough for Kai to hear.
"Kitty!" Mei exclaimed with a smile, gently stroking her chin. "Who's a good little kitty…" she continued, and Lilith purred contentedly, raising her head as if enjoying the attention.
Then her eyes fell on the diary Kai was holding. Her eyebrows lifted slightly in surprise. "Where did you get that?" she asked.
Kai scratched the back of his head, giving a brief awkward smile, then said, "Well… I found it in Frieren's house… and hid it in our room…"
Mei let out a deep breath, but her smile didn't fade. "You're always thinking several steps ahead…" she said quietly, then added, smiling, "I'm not mad…"
Kai just smiled, his eyes sparkling with anticipation. "But… where's Vorenhart? I want that wish!" he exclaimed, his voice full of excitement and expectation.
"Not yet!" his sister replied. "What's the most important thing in life?" she asked him.
Kai paused for a moment, thinking quickly as his mind raced through all possible answers. Then, with a confident smile, he said, "Information!"
Mei smiled softly and nodded, pleased with the answer. She slowly sat down on the floor and carefully placed the diary in front of her, positioning it so they could both see the pages. "Let's see what's inside!"
Kai sat beside her, eyes still gleaming, as Kitty settled immediately next to them.
Mei placed her hand on the diary and tried to open it, but it was as if an invisible force held it shut. The cover wouldn't budge. She tried again, harder, but still—nothing. "You have Active Magic, try it…"
Kai took the diary in his hands, and it seemed as though the book recognized his power. The covers opened effortlessly. "Secrets…" he whispered softly.
Mei suddenly raised her hand, pointing to an illustration that took up nearly the entire page. She indicated a massive, immeasurable creature. "Calamities…" she said.
Kai read the title aloud, his voice trembling with excitement: "How to summon a Calamity… What is this book…?" The pages turned, revealing symbols, illustrations, and diagrams.
Mei blinked several times, unable to believe her eyes. "Did… did we search for this all along?" she asked quietly, her breath catching, heart racing faster.
"V-Vorenhart… He wants to summon Calamities…?" Kai asked, voice trembling in shock, eyes wide with disbelief at what he was holding.
The brother and sister exchanged a look, horror reflecting in their eyes. It was hard to believe that someone they knew and trusted could harbor such a dark intention.
Kai stood up. "Where is this Vorenhart?" he asked sharply.
Lilith began to meow persistently. "Meow… Meow!"
They both looked at her in surprise, and Kai raised his eyebrows sharply.
Mei leaned toward the "kitty" and slowly stroked behind her ears, voice gentle, soothing, yet curious: "Does my sweet little kitty know where the naughty President Vorenhart is?"
Lilith started crawling slowly forward, showing them the way through the ruins. Her hands softly tapped on the stones.
"You're a bit slow…" Kai said impatiently.
Lilith stopped and turned to him, and without hesitation, Kai leapt, scooping her up into a Princess Carry. "Show me the way!" he said in a sweet tone. Her face flushed, and her body trembled slightly. She was already used to being treated like a cat, but being carried was new to her.
His hands held her firmly but gently: one hand under her thighs, supporting her weight, the other gently on her back, following the natural curve of her body. Her crop top revealed a slightly toned stomach, and her denim shorts accentuated the gentle lines of her legs and hips, swaying subtly to accommodate his hands. Her body was soft to the touch.
Her hands wrapped gently around his shoulders, pressure light and natural, legs tucked and bent, almost instinctively adjusting to Kai's movements. Every sway of her hips was subtle, yet irresistible.
Mei huffed, visibly jealous. "Why do you never carry me like that?" she asked sharply.
"You're all bloody and dirty… don't even come near me…" Kai replied with feigned disgust.
"Well, that's your fault!" Mei shouted, pointing at him, but Kai didn't even glance at her. He continued walking forward, focused on the path Lilith was showing them.

"I demand permission to go and kill Kai and Mei!" Elmyra shouted, voice full of anger and desire for revenge. Her eyes blazed, hands gripping her staff tightly.
"Denied!" Nytherra responded sharply, without a moment of hesitation. Her eyes didn't blink, her tone icy.
Elmyra hissed, teeth gritting as she restrained her rage. She was ready to flare, but dared not challenge Nytherra's authority.
At that moment, the silence was broken by the deep, heavy voice of Saretha, the Demon God. "You still don't understand?" he asked.
Elmyra jerked her head toward him, confused. Her eyes searched for any explanation.
But his thought was interrupted, and Veylith, the Elemental God, continued. His voice was calm, yet winding, as if speaking through the wind. "Kai and Mei… are not responsible for the destruction of the Elves."
Elmyra quickly turned her gaze to him. Her eyes fixed on his misty form. His superhero-like cloak fluttered, though there was no wind in the room. He leaned slightly forward, looking her in the eyes. Elmyra couldn't quite tell how he felt due to his undefined features.
"Yes, he did it…" Feloria added seductively, smiling as she lazily pointed at an empty chair. Her tone was almost mocking.
Elmyra quickly shifted her gaze to that chair. No one was there. Her face tensed, then she glanced at Nytherra. "I thought Gods weren't allowed to interfere!" she shouted.
Nytherra said nothing. Her cold eyes remained fixed on Elmyra, lips unmoved. Instead, Rhazir, the Bloodbeast God, spoke. His voice was rough and heavy: "He's new… so Nytherra indulges him a bit."
Elmyra clenched her jaw, hatred coursing through her face, but stayed silent. She just frowned and lowered her gaze.

Lilith led the brother and sister through the ruins of what was once a magnificent city. Streets now lay in rubble, rooftops collapsed, and the smell of ash and dampness filled every corner. The path led them to a not-so-secret safe room where Vorenhart was located.
When they reached the small metal door, Kai set Kitty down. She immediately let out a fake meow and pressed against his legs. Kai stroked her head and smiled. "Good girl!"
He took a deep breath, then turned the heavy door. With a creak and the harsh sound of metal, the door opened. He and Mei stepped inside.
Mei stood by the door, looking down at Kitty, then her face softened into a gentle smile as she said, "You wait here, little one…" Lilith immediately sat down.
The room's interior was dark, lit only by faint light through small windows.
Lily was already there, waiting. "Welcome back!" she said, her voice completely devoid of emotion—the silence between her words making her tone even stranger.
Kai immediately got to the point, not wanting unnecessary chit-chat. "Where's Vorenhart?" he asked clearly and directly.
"He's waiting for you in the next room!" Lily replied.
Kai nodded, then, together with Mei, moved toward the next door. They reached a small, heavy entrance, and Kai placed his hand on the handle. The screech of metal echoed through the room as he slowly turned it and pushed the door open. They entered and quietly closed it behind them.
Inside, Vorenhart awaited, seated at a table, body relaxed. Yuki stood to the side, in her delicate pink skirt, which looked almost out of place in the serious atmosphere.
"Looks like you're still alive…" Vorenhart said, not the slightest bit surprised.
Yuki laughed and waved both hands. "Hi, hi!"
