Chapter 1203: Brightness Kingdom
Chapter 1203: Brightness Kingdom
"Huh?" I was completely caught off guard when I heard this.
Taking a moment to gather myself, I said, "We already know that the demons are invading, that was why I went to gather more allies, right?"
The prime minister and the chancellor still had grim looks on their faces, which showed me that this situation wasn't what I thought it was. So I waited for them to explain to me what this meant.
"It's not just that, they've reached the Brightness Kingdom." The prime minister finally said in a heavy voice.
"Huh?" I was once again completely caught off guard by this.
The Brightness Kingdom was one of the kingdoms that bordered our kingdom.
That meant that since the demons had reached the Brightness Kingdom, they were basically on our doorsteps.
But how did the demons come this far into the territory of the humans?
We were considered rather far away from the demons, so they had to push through several other human kingdoms to reach us. With the human empires fighting against the demons, it didn't seem like this was likely.
So how did they get all the way to the Brightness Kingdom?
The prime minister and chancellor could see the look on my face, but they didn't explain anything. Instead, they suddenly stood up from where they were sitting and moved around the study to pull out some things.
When they were done, they brought them over for me to see.
What they brought over was a stack of papers that seemed to be reports from scouts and a large map that they spread across the table.
After spreading out the map, they still didn't say anything as they continued putting different things on the map.
I could tell that these were markers for something, but I had no idea what they were supposed to signify.
After a while, they finally stopped putting things on the map and turned their attention back to me.
Pointing at one group of marks, the prime minister said, "This is the main army of the demons that are currently clashing with the main army of the human empires." He moved his finger to point at four different coloured groups of marks that faced this one group.
This wasn't hard to understand, I was more interested in the marks that were where the Brightness Kingdom was. Along with the marks that were left behind in a trail towards the Brightness Kingdom, which started where the main fight seemed to be.
The prime minister didn't address this and moved over to where the Brightness Kingdom was on the map to say, "This is the group that separated from the main demon army and made their way to the Brightness Kingdom."
Once again, I already knew this, so there was a bit of bitterness that appeared on my lips.
The prime minister seemed lost in his own world, but he did start explaining what I wanted to know.
It turned out that this group separated from the main demon army just a few days ago and in these few days, they had been unstoppable as they made their way through the lands of the human kingdoms.
They used strange abilities that no one had seen before, which was why no one was able to stop them.
At the same time, since they didn't seem dead set on fighting against the human kingdoms, there was no one that went all out to stop them.
All that happened was that they clashed with the demon detachment, but they retreated in the end when they weren't able to defeat the demons.
The different marks that were on the map showed where the demon detachment fought with the armies of the human kingdoms. At the same time, the different marks were a show of what happened.
But since I couldn't understand just from the marks alone, the prime minister explained to me what happened along with showing me the reports related to this to give me a better idea.
"You're saying that they had this strange black appearance that seemed like they were made of a corrupted liquid?" I asked in the middle of this explanation.
The prime minister gave a sigh before shaking his head to say, "I don't really know, that's just what the reports say. I honestly don't know how to interpret that part either since it doesn't make any sense."
It didn't make sense to him, but I couldn't help thinking about what happened in the Merman Empire.
It seemed that things really were related...
"The last reports said that the Brightness Kingdom was still fighting with the demons, but it doesn't seem like the situation is good. We were considering sending reinforcements, but..." Both the prime minister and chancellor revealed strange looks after this was said.
I could easily tell what they were thinking, so I didn't need them to actually say anything.
I knew that they were acting this way because they really were at a loss on what to do about this situation.
This was something that they had never encountered before.
This was something that no one in this world had encountered before since I knew from my wealth of game knowledge that this was an event that was completely new.
So it would be strange if they had an idea of what to do about this.
"What do you think we should do?"
The prime minister and chancellor both turned to me with serious looks when they gathered their thoughts and came back to their senses. They just looked at me like this, waiting for me
to say anything.
I didn't get a chance to say anything in the end because...
"Report! It's an urgent situation!"
There was a soldier that ran in with a stack of papers in his hands.
The three of us all knitted our brows when we heard this.
We knew that no one would barge in on our meeting like this unless it was very urgent.
That meant that this had to be quite the important report for this soldier to do this.
