Saving The Six Realms By Starting A Romance

Chapter 3 - The Friendly Heavenly Emperor

“Oh, that’s the Heavenly Sword!” Qing Jue followed her gaze to the sword and immediately explained, “It’s the divine sword that appeared above the Shangqing Hall when His Majesty ascended to the throne of the Heavenly Emperor. It’s said that many years ago, the Six Realms fell into the hands of the demonic path, causing untold suffering to all living beings. Legend has it that this sword slew three thousand demon gods during the chaos of the Six Realms, and its aura is extremely heavy. Therefore, the Heavenly Dao bestowed this divine sword to deter all immortals and remind them never to repeat the mistakes of falling into the demonic path.”

“…” Ah, this is like the celestial version of the Sword of Damocles?

“Your Highness, there’s no need to worry…” Qing Jue, thinking she was frightened, hurried to comfort her, “Although this sword hangs high above, it’s said that it will only descend when an immortal falls into the demonic path and disrupts the Six Realms. You don’t need to be afraid.”

“…” No, she just felt that this sword looked a bit familiar.

Could it be?

Jiang Ran didn’t think much of it, retracting her gaze. As they spoke, they had already descended from the clouds and landed on the white jade steps in front of the Shangqing Hall, preparing to enter.

Suddenly…

A sword cry resounded through the clouds, the sharp and clear hum instantly spreading throughout the entire celestial palace and extending toward the celestial realm. The sword above seemed to sense something, and the entire sword began to tremble with excitement, its pressure shaking the Shangqing Hall below.

Jiang Ran’s heart skipped a beat. Crap, it really was her old broken sword from back then, now looking so grand and majestic that she didn’t recognize it at first.

Seeing the old broken sword trembling more and more excitedly, as if it was about to fly over at any moment, the entire Shangqing Hall was being shaken by its sword aura, causing the ground to crack with fissures.

Qing Jue was startled, struggling to stabilize herself, and still managed to hold Jiang Ran, “This… what’s happening? Why is the Heavenly Sword suddenly like this, Your Highness, are you alright…”

“Shut up!” Jiang Ran glared at the foolishly excited sword in the sky, having to scold it for this almost hostile behavior.

The next moment, the sword cry abruptly stopped, instantly silencing, and the trembling ceased. Even the surrounding sword aura softened and became pitifully docile.

“Ah?!” Qing Jue beside her was taken aback by her shout, wondering why the princess suddenly got angry.

“Uh… I just meant, thank you, fairy!” Jiang Ran stiffened, awkwardly changing her words and shifting the topic, “Are we there yet?”

“Oh, oh.” Qing Jue didn’t think much of it, just assuming she misheard, “Yes, we’re here, Your Highness, just follow me inside.”

Just as they were about to enter, a figure appeared at the entrance, and a cheerful, excited female voice sounded.

“The divine sword’s reaction truly confirms the Heavenly Dao’s decree, it’s the first time in thousands of years that the Heavenly Sword has reacted like this!”

The person wore a robe woven of auspicious clouds and celestial mist, surrounded by celestial energy and the awe-inspiring presence of heaven and earth, unmistakably marking her as someone recognized by the cosmos. She was dressed simply, almost casually, and her cultivation wasn’t the highest, but her demeanor left no room for doubt—this was the Heavenly Emperor, ruler of the Six Realms.

What surprised Jiang Ran more was that this Heavenly Emperor was a woman. A female Heavenly Emperor?!

Hmm, for some reason, it seemed quite fitting.

Qing Jue immediately bowed, but the Heavenly Emperor’s eyes lit up, and she walked quickly over, taking Jiang Ran’s hesitant hand and shaking it vigorously with an unusually approachable demeanor, “You finally woke up, friend from beyond the heavens.”

“Uh…” Jiang Ran paused, is this really the Heavenly Emperor? She seemed way too friendly.

“If it weren’t for urgent matters in the Six Realms that needed my attention, preventing me from leaving, I would have visited you in the Floating Cloud Hall. Please don’t take offense.” The Heavenly Emperor shook her hand firmly, extremely familiar and enthusiastic, “How are you adjusting to life in the celestial realm? Is your health better? Are there any discomforts? Should I call a celestial physician for you?”

“No need, I’m fine.” Jiang Ran said, a bit surprised, withdrawing her hand, “Thank you, Your Majesty.”

“No need for such formalities.” The Heavenly Emperor smiled even more warmly, “You might not know, but I have already recognized you as my adopted daughter a few days ago. You are now the Heavenly Princess of our celestial realm. If you don’t mind, you can call me Mother Emperor!”

“…” I suspect you’re taking advantage of me, and I have evidence.

The Heavenly Emperor, however, grew more excited as she spoke, adopting a motherly demeanor, “Fengtian, the divine sword reacted the moment you arrived. We truly didn’t find the wrong person; you are destined to be a hero of the Six Realms.”

“Uh… Qing Jue mentioned that I was summoned here by a formation.” Jiang Ran avoided responding to the sudden mother-daughter relationship, instead directly asking, “I’m just an ordinary person. Why was I summoned here? What do you want from me?”

The Heavenly Emperor paused but quickly regained her enthusiasm, as if she had anticipated this question. She smiled even more gently, “It’s a long story. Why don’t you come inside, and I will explain everything. Rest assured, we have no ill intentions in summoning you.”

She stepped aside, gesturing for Jiang Ran to follow.

Jiang Ran did not hesitate and followed her. However, instead of going into the main Shangqing Hall, the Heavenly Emperor led her to a nearby courtyard filled with celestial energy, inviting her to sit in a delicate pavilion.

Perhaps to ease her tension and anxiety, the pavilion overlooked a clear celestial lake, its surface covered with blooming pink lotuses, occasionally wafting delicate fragrances that naturally calmed the mind.

The Heavenly Emperor waved her hand lightly, and a variety of tea utensils appeared on the stone table in the pavilion. She personally and casually brewed tea, handing a cup to Jiang Ran with a smile, “My name is Mingxi, the Heavenly Emperor here. Fengtian, you have been unconscious for three days, so I haven’t had the chance to know your name yet?”

“Jiang Ran.” She responded directly.

“Ran?” The Heavenly Emperor Mingxi paused, seemingly recalling something, with a flash of surprise on her face before she quickly recovered and nodded, “Jiang Ran, good… a good name!”

She took a sip of tea, carefully observing the calm and composed woman in front of her. Although she was just a mortal without cultivation, even in front of her, she showed no hint of fear, nor was she affected by her aura. It was as if, in her eyes, the Heavenly Emperor was no different from an ordinary person. Could this be the quality of someone from beyond the heavens?

“Your Majesty, can you start explaining now?” Jiang Ran urged.

“Of course.” The Heavenly Emperor Mingxi nodded, her voice turning serious, “To explain why you were summoned here, I must mention some old events of the Six Realms.”

She sighed, as if recalling something painful, her tone becoming somber, “You might find it hard to believe, but the Six Realms were nearly doomed thousands of years ago. At that time, the Heavenly Dao collapsed, the immortal path vanished, and humanity was on the brink of extinction. The entire Six Realms fell into the demonic path, with three thousand demon gods wreaking havoc in every realm. It is no exaggeration to say that the Six Realms were a living hell back then.”

“…Mm.” Jiang Ran took a sip of tea. She not only believed it but had personally experienced that hell.
