Chapter 999 A Threat From Within
My hand drove straight through Mr. Madron's dantian, blood coating my fingers instantly.
I ripped his golden core out with my bare hands and crushed it completely!
Mr. Madron fixed me with a dying stare.
He couldn't accept that someone without spiritual power would kill him!
"Bang!"
Mr. Madron's body crashed hard to the ground.
My face showed no emotion whatsoever.
Everyone around me fell silent, shocked by what they'd witnessed.
I swept the area with a cold look, then turned and walked away.
This time, nobody dared step into my path.
But I knew the Capital City Martial Arts Association had painted me as the villain.
I'd seen the proof over the past few days everywhere I went.
Nearly everyone wanted me dead.
"I can't stay in this country anymore." I exhaled slowly.
My reputation was already shot, and now I'd killed Mr. Madron in front of everyone—things would only get worse from here.
After thinking it over, I decided to leave Pyro for now.
First, to dodge any Martial Saint hunting me down. Second, I hadn't been back to Heaven Gate in ages.
It was my sect, after all. If I kept neglecting it, I'd lose everyone's loyalty.
So that day I bought a plane ticket and flew out of Pyro, heading straight for the Cordelia Kingdom.
Hours later, I touched down in Cordelia.
Cordelia had always been chaotic territory, with different sects carving out their space here.
Even though I'd crushed most of the major and minor sects before, new ones had popped up during my absence.
I grabbed a taxi toward Heaven Gate.
Heaven Gate's entrance looked incredibly impressive. Even with me gone, I'd kept everyone under control through the Divine Seal Pills.
So Heaven Gate was running smoothly.
At the entrance, two guards blocked my way.
"Who are you?" they asked coldly.
"I'm Mason Raymond, sect master of Heaven Gate," I said calmly.
The two guards exchanged glances.
"Hold on a second," one said.
He rushed back inside.
Minutes later, he returned with a middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man hurried up to me, bowed, and said, "Greetings, Lord Raymond!"
I looked him up and down. "Who are you?"
"I'm the acting sect master the brothers elected. Charleston Ryder," the middle-aged man answered.
I nodded and gestured. "Let's head inside."
Charleston Ryder walked with me into Heaven Gate's Great Hall.
The place was absolutely stunning—like stepping into an ancient Imperial Palace.
Charleston respectfully guided me to the main seat, then sat off to the side.
"Did Heaven Gate run into any problems while I was gone?" I asked.
Charleston didn't hold anything back, filling me in on everything that had happened at Heaven Gate during my absence.
From Charleston's report, I learned Heaven Gate now had over twenty Marquises and three Half-step Martial Sages.
One person was even close to breaking into the Martial Saint Realm!
This caught me off guard.
Had my Heaven Gate really built up this much power?
"Once he hits the Martial Saint Realm, the Divine Seal Pill won't work on him anymore," I felt a headache coming on.
Keeping my position at Heaven Gate wouldn't be easy then.
"What's the name of the guy about to enter the Martial Saint Realm?" I asked.
Charleston answered quickly, "His name is Crosby Reid."
"Crosby Reid... Bring him here," I ordered.
Charleston nodded eagerly. "Yes, sir."
Minutes later, a young man followed Charleston into the room.
Seeing me sitting there, Crosby Reid bowed and said, "Greetings, Lord Raymond."
I nodded slightly.
I studied the young man, my frown deepening.
Crosby Reid looked pretty young.
Someone that young on the edge of the Martial Saint Realm usually had massive egos and wouldn't bow to anyone.
"If I don't get the Heavenly Vanilla soon, I'll lose Heaven Gate," I thought.
But if I killed Crosby Reid without good reason, the sect would fall apart.
Even ancient emperors needed excuses to execute people, let alone me.
I kept studying Crosby Reid, unsure what move to make.
"I need to find a way to get that Heavenly Vanilla fast," I rubbed my temples, feeling the headache intensify.
I turned to Charleston. "Pass down my orders. Everyone needs to find Heavenly Vanilla, no matter what it takes!"
"Heavenly Vanilla? What's that?" Charleston asked.
I waved my hand. "Anyone who has it will know."
"Spread the word that Heaven Gate is collecting Heavenly Vanilla. If we can get it, I'll trade a Nine Transformation Pill for it."
Charleston bowed obediently. "Yes, sir!"
For the next few days, all of Heaven Gate searched for Heavenly Vanilla.
Three days flew by with no word about the Heavenly Vanilla.
"Getting Heavenly Vanilla isn't going to be easy," worry flashed across my face.
After all, Heavenly Vanilla came from High-Level Secret Realms, making even one plant harder to find than I'd imagined.
Several more days passed with still no news about the Heavenly Vanilla.
Heaven Gate's people had combed through all of Cordelia Kingdom and even sent word overseas, but came up empty.
Just as I was about to give up, Charleston burst in and said, "Lord Raymond, someone wants to see you. He says he's got Heavenly Vanilla."
Hearing this, my eyes lit up.
I jumped to my feet. "Quick, bring him in!"
"Yes, sir!"
