Rise of The Abandoned Husband

Chapter 998 The Price Of Disrespect

They glared at me, itching to attack, but nobody wanted to make the first move.

"Huh?"

Right then, I spotted a pretty unusual herb on a nearby stall.

I walked over quickly.

The crowd around me scrambled out of the way.

I ignored them completely. I grabbed the herb and studied it closely.

"How much for this?" I asked the vendor.

The guy gulped and looked nervously at everyone watching.

Then he found his nerve and said, "I... I won't sell it to you, not for all the gold in the world!"

I raised an eyebrow. "Why not? You think I won't pay?"

"Nobody wants your dirty money!" the vendor yelled, working up his courage.

I ran my fingers over the herb and shrugged. "Fine. If you don't want payment, that's that."

I shoved the herb in my pocket and started walking away.

"Mason Raymond! You planning to steal in broad daylight!" someone shouted.

I stopped. "Didn't he just say he doesn't want my dirty money?"

"Mason Raymond! Don't get cocky! We won't let you do whatever you want!" someone else stepped up and yelled.

I gave the crowd around me a cold look.

They'd circled me, afraid I might bolt.

I tucked the herb away and said coldly, "If you want to fight, then fight. No need to make excuses."

"Mason Raymond! You're the one in the wrong here!"

"You failed your tribulation - heaven's punishing you! Won't you repent?"

Hearing that crap, I laughed. "Yeah, I failed my tribulation. My golden core's busted. No need to keep testing me - just attack if that's what you want!"

Getting my straight answer, someone finally made their move!

A Military Marquis shouted and pushed through the crowd.

He pointed at me and said, "Mason, I'll give you a quick death today, considering how you fought Iris Darren!"

He balled up his fists and charged at me!

I watched him coldly, then swung my hand and slammed my palm into his chest!

"Whoosh!"

That one strike sent the charging Military Marquis flying!

He hit the ground and coughed up blood with a "wah."

"You... you!" Before he could finish, he collapsed unconscious.

Everyone's faces went white, and they all backed up!

"You... were you faking it?!" someone gasped.

I said coldly, "Yeah, my golden core's damaged, but with just my body and bones, any random nobody can't mess with me."

Random nobody?

A Military Marquis called a random nobody?

Had my physical strength really gotten that intense?

"Anyone else want to try? I'll stand right here and wait," I said coldly.

The crowd looked at each other. Nobody dared make a move.

I snorted and turned to go.

"I've heard Mr. Raymond was unbeatable. Today I finally get to see it myself."

Just then, some fancy-dressed young guy stepped forward.

The guy wore expensive clothes and carried himself like nobility - clearly some rich boy.

"It's Mr. Madron!"

"Mr. Madron, kill him!"

"Mason Raymond's done so much evil - he can't be allowed to leave Marquel Madron alive!"

Hearing their words, I almost wanted to laugh.

When Iris Darren invaded big time, these people didn't have the balls to even speak up.

Now that my golden core's damaged and I'm being blamed for stuff, they finally grew some spine.

Picking on the weak and kissing up to the strong - they had it down perfect.

Mr. Madron bowed to me and smiled. "Mr. Raymond, I'm really sorry. I don't want to be your enemy, but public opinion's hard to ignore."

I glanced at him and sneered. "Do I know you? What rock did you crawl out from under, rat?"

Getting insulted to his face, Mr. Madron's expression soured.

He forced down his anger and smiled. "With Mr. Raymond's reputation, naturally you wouldn't know someone small like me."

"Though I, Madron, am somewhat known in Marquel Madron. Recently I reached Peak Military Marquis Realm - just one step from Half-step Martial Sage."

I said coldly, "Cut the chatter. Just make your move."

Mr. Madron, playing the good guy, sighed. "Mr. Raymond, you used to be famous. I really don't want to fight you."

"How about this? Kneel down and apologize to everyone, and I'll let you walk. That way I can explain things to people, right? I'm sure they'll give me that respect."

He looked around at the crowd.

They shouted, "Mr. Madron's so kind! Fine, we'll give Mr. Madron that respect!"

"Facing such an evil person, Mr. Madron can still show mercy - truly admirable!"

This kind of talk made me sick.

Hidden malice was always the most disgusting.

"What do you say, Mr. Raymond?" Mr. Madron asked.

I narrowed my eyes. "I can kill you in three breaths."

Mr. Madron sighed. "Since Mr. Raymond's so stubborn, I have no choice but to teach you a lesson."

He snapped his fingers, shooting them at me!

This guy acted all righteous, but his moves were vicious!

His hands went straight for my dantian!

I couldn't help but sneer. I clenched my fist and threw a punch right at Mr. Madron!

"Whoosh!"

Mr. Madron took the hit and went flying backward, smashing through countless stalls!

Silence fell around us.

People looked at each other, unable to process what just happened.

"Mr. Madron was just being merciful, holding back!"

"Right, right! Mr. Madron showed mercy and you took advantage!"

"Shameless! Mr. Madron, kill him!"

Mr. Madron got up from the ground, face red with embarrassment. His eyes narrowed as he said angrily, "Mr. Raymond, you showed no mercy, so I have no choice but to use my real skills."

"You talk too damn much!"

I stomped the ground and with a "whoosh" appeared right in front of Mr. Madron!

At that speed, I moved like the wind!

Mr. Madron's eyes went wide. Before he could even react, my fist punched through his dantian!
