Chapter 1000 Sent By The Princess
I sat in the Great Hall, excitement bubbling inside me.
A few minutes passed.
Charleston Ryder brought a man inside.
The guy looked weird, with some strange mark right between his eyebrows.
He walked straight toward me and said flatly, "Greetings, Lord Raymond."
I got to my feet, couldn't hold back, and asked, "Do you have Heavenly Vanilla? Is it real?"
Rather than rushing to answer, the man looked over at Charleston Ryder beside him.
I caught the hint and waved my hand, saying, "You can go."
"Yes." Charleston Ryder bowed and walked out of the Great Hall.
Now it was just me and this strange guy in the Great Hall.
The man looked at me and said coolly, "Let me tell you who I am. My name is Coryn Morris. You can call me Brother Bear too."
I wasn't in the mood for his chatter but had to be polite, so I said, "Greetings, Brother Bear."
Coryn Morris went on, "You managed to bring all the sects in the Cordelia Kingdom under one roof back then. That was pretty impressive."
"Brother Bear, you're too kind," I said, keeping my patience.
But then Coryn Morris switched gears.
He laughed, "Too bad after you unified Heaven Gate, you took off from Cordelia. Sure, you kept everyone in line with those Divine Seal Pills, but the reality is, you've got no real power base here."
Something felt wrong, so I asked, "What are you getting at, Brother Bear?"
Coryn Morris said flatly, "So you're just a sect master on paper."
"Now you've come back to Cordelia out of nowhere and let everyone know you want Heavenly Vanilla. There's probably just one reason for that."
"Your tribulation failed! You couldn't stay in the country anymore, so you ran to Cordelia to hide!"
I narrowed my eyes and asked coldly, "You don't have Heavenly Vanilla?"
"Hahaha, that's right!" Coryn Morris burst out laughing.
"I came here to give you some advice."
I frowned.
Just like I thought—wherever people gather, trouble follows.
"If you quit Heaven Gate right now, I might think about letting you live and even letting you stick around Heaven Gate," Coryn Morris said casually.
I asked coldly, "What if I say no?"
"If you say no, I'll kill you," Coryn Morris said straight up.
As he spoke, Coryn Morris's aura exploded outward!
"A Martial Saint?!"
My face went white!
This Coryn Morris standing in front of me was a Martial Saint!
Coryn Morris said coldly, "You should realize you don't stand a chance against me."
"I was nice enough to meet with you one-on-one, so I hope you won't throw that kindness back in my face."
My expression turned grim.
If I went up against Coryn Morris directly, I'd be dead for sure.
"Give me a few days to think it over," I said seriously.
Coryn Morris snorted, "Fine, you get three days, but don't try pulling any tricks."
"I want the answer I'm looking for in three days."
With that, Coryn Morris got up and walked out.
——
After he left, Charleston Ryder rushed back in.
"Lord Raymond, did he bring you the Heavenly Vanilla?" Charleston Ryder asked.
Mason Raymond shook his head with a bitter smile, "No, getting Heavenly Vanilla isn't that easy."
Charleston Ryder looked confused.
He wanted to ask more questions, but Mason Raymond waved his hand and cut him off.
——
Coryn Morris was right—I had no real foundation in Heaven Gate.
For the Heaven Gate followers, it didn't matter who became sect master.
That night, I sat on the roof, couldn't sleep.
"Looks like getting Heavenly Vanilla is hopeless," I whispered.
"I'm going to be stuck as a Half-step Martial Sage forever."
That thought filled me with complete despair.
If my cultivation ended here, everything I'd done so far would be worthless.
"If there's no other way, I'll have to give up Heaven Gate for now," I decided quietly.
Right then.
I suddenly felt something moving in the shadows.
"Who?!"
I spun around quickly and shouted.
"Pretty sharp divine sense." A voice came from behind me.
When I turned around, I saw a well-dressed middle-aged man standing there.
I watched the man carefully, asking coldly, "Who are you? Why are you watching me?"
The man stood with his hands behind his back, smiling slightly, "The golden core left quite a mark on you. I'm guessing you tried to force your way through to Martial Saint?"
I yelled, "Cut the crap! Who are you? If you won't tell me, I won't think twice about taking you down!"
"Oh?" The man raised an eyebrow, a mocking smile playing on his face.
I got pissed off, made a fist and rushed at him!
Even though this punch was just raw physical power, the force behind it was incredible!
But to my shock, when my fist hit the man's body, it went right through!
"What?!" I frowned.
I spun around and threw another punch, same thing happened!
I couldn't even touch the man's clearly solid body!
"A spatial spell?" I seemed to figure something out.
"You know about spatial spells?" The man was clearly surprised.
I said coldly, "To use a spatial spell like that, you'd have to be at least a Martial Saint."
"A Martial Saint?" The middle-aged man raised an eyebrow and then started laughing.
"Alright, I'll quit messing with you," the man said, getting serious.
My face darkened, my mind on full alert.
The middle-aged man chuckled, "Relax. The princess sent me here to give you something."
