Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 631: Dangerous Tendrils

When Xu Feng realized just how much care his supervisor, or the original supervisor of Mike had given him, he nearly wanted to scheme Ryan to death.

No, it wasn't that he wanted to, but Xu Feng would definitely ensure Ryan became the scapegoat for a lot of terrible things.

Such disgusting conduct of a supervisor shouldn't exist in the first place.

'Ryan… no wonder why your name is sometimes pronounced as the bad guy.' Xu Feng sneered inwardly. It wasn't a coincidence at all.

"Trainee Mike?" The group leader suddenly called out when he didn't hear a response from Xu Feng.

"Oh, my bad, I was thinking of which direction to begin." Xu Feng scratched his head.

He then explained, "The established base is nearby, so my reconnaissance needs to be in a prime spot to ensure the safety of the crewmates from a certain perimeter."

As if understanding but actually didn't, the group leader laughed heartily and gave a thumbs up to Xu Feng.

"Ah, no wonder Supervisor Ryan recommended you and praised you highly. Alright, I'll leave you be then." The group leader exclaimed and turned his attention to the crowd.

"Aside from Trainee Mike, everyone shall follow me and remember to not wander around. If you were to lose your life because you decided to be stupid, then blame yourself and only yourself." He continued, turned around, and began guiding the crowd to the established base.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng stood in place temporarily, patiently waiting till the crowd could no longer be seen.

Once he confirmed there was no more surveillance on him, he proceeded to head toward the outskirts to investigate.

He didn't dare to rush ahead and made sure to tread each area carefully.

"Good thing I have these recon gear." He murmured, utilizing the Holo-Mapper to scan around. Although the signal was extremely weak, it was still able to scan up to 30 kilometers, revealing a brief 3D holographic map.

It wasn't much, but at the very least, it managed to detect strong monsters in certain areas.

That was enough for Xu Feng to comprehend and avoid taking a path that would lead to them.

As Xu Feng retrieved his Phantom Grappling Hook, he fired it at the top of a tree branch and propelled himself. In an unfamiliar environment, taking the high ground was the optimized decision.

However, Xu Feng quickly ducked under, utilizing the leaves and tree branches to protect himself from predators that were roaming the sky.

Their shriek sound was capable of penetrating through concrete stones.

'Interstellar era indeed.' He thought, gazing at the sky predators who flapped their large wings and circled around.

Thankfully, he had already used some herbs to conceal his presence, preventing the predators from being able to sniff him out. Otherwise, he would have been found and caught almost immediately and probably be devoured alive.

Time slowly passed by, and when the predators flew away from his field of vision, Xu Feng discreetly retrieved the Spectral Binoculars to spy on them. Stay tuned to My Virtual Library Empire

As the Spectral Binoculars had long-range zoom capabilities, he was able to see the predators had found their prey from another section. They shot straight down and some pain echoed in the rainforest.

Shortly after, the same predators flew up the sky, their mouths now clenching a blood-dripping monster with some of their flesh ripped open.

'Jeez, what are these predator levels?' Xu Feng furrowed his brows.

From afar, he could still sense a dreadful aura emitting from the fallen monsters. Yet they were still completely helpless in front of the predators that roamed the sky.

Luckily, the Holo-Mapper had helped him detect them beforehand, otherwise, he would have been the one in their mouth.

Although the Holo-Mapper no longer displayed any alarming predators around, Xu Feng still waited 5 more minutes before confirming the coast was safe.

He gradually stood up from his lying posture and continued to place the Pulse Beacon. It might have assisted the battleship by installing them, but Xu Feng needed the lightweight tracker of a signal to know where he must return.

The rainforest was simply too big and one could easily lose their way if not careful. Of course, this wouldn't have been an issue if his map wasn't disabled by the damnable trial phase.

Once the installation was a success, Xu Feng dropped down slowly by extending the grappling hook. While he was descending, and was about to land on his feet, his eyes suddenly narrowed.

Without hesitation, he hurriedly raised his legs up and rotated the grappling hook to go back up.

Just at this moment, the tendrils that had been concealing itself perfectly with the environment, realized its prey had detected danger and was about to escape. Having waited since it spotted Xu Feng, the tendrils were naturally unwilling to let him escape.

They curled around in a round shape and then snapped one of the ends to launch themselves, similar to how a rocket operates when shooting toward the moon.

"Are you serious?" Dumbfounded, Xu Feng hurriedly pulled the pin of a Frost Grenade and threw it at the tendrils that were coming at him.

BOOM!

The frost explosion collided against the tendrils heavily and caused deadly destruction.

Unfortunately, the tendrils seemed immune to the frost effect. Right after it crashed down from the blast impact, the tendrils swiftly recovered and began its next move.

Soon, numerous tendrils emerged from the underground. They made some noise before deciding to drill the tree bark itself.

Who could have imagined the tendrils drilling were even superior to a chainsaw?

Within the blink of an eye, the tree bark had lost most of its protection and Xu Feng finally understood the horror and danger that revolved around Planet Zaun.

"Whoever wants to claim ownership of this planet has to be a psychopath." He muttered, unwilling to deal with these dangerous tendrils any further. He hurriedly aimed his grappling to another nearby tree and began swinging himself like how a monkey would do in their monkey swing to transport.
