Chapter 630: Planet Zaun
Having thought long and hard about the pros and cons, Xu Feng ended up contacting Roy regarding his "medical condition".
Regardless of the authenticity of Roy's claim, the medicine he gave to him was indeed effective in repelling most of the viruses.
This point alone confirmed something in Xu Feng's mind. Roy was indeed no ordinary Trainee.
If he were to determine the rank of the medicine, it was at least at the rank of 3. For a Trainee to have access to such medicine meant his identity was fishy.
Just when Xu Feng was in the midst of pondering how to figure out the mystery, a loud announcement reverberated throughout the battleship.
– Attention to all crewmates! We have arrived at Planet Zaun! Please be ready as we are going to land soon and ensure you are dressed in the special uniform if you are assigned to deboard!
After hearing the announcement, Xu Feng, who had been changed into the special uniform for a while, stood up and prepared to deboard.
Maybe the others were afraid of the upcoming landing, but he was more excited than ever.
Nothing was better than getting rid of the feeling of being placed in prison.
The Battleship Lux itself was like a large prison, confining him in place, and preventing him from acting freely. The atmosphere of the battleship looked harmonious on the surface, but it was evident that the vibe was way off.
It was as if the battleship had undergone a new leadership. And that new leadership was slowly corrupting the integrity and the supposed bright atmosphere.
"Trainee Mike!"
Suddenly, Xu Feng heard a shout from afar. He stood up and quickly saluted nervously, perfecting the behavior of how the original Mike would react.
"Yes, Supervisor Ryan!" He responded loudly.
"What are you still doing here?" Ryan emerged and glared at Xu Feng. "Hurry up and line yourself up at the deboarding station. This is your permit slip. Do not lose it or you'll know the consequences."
As the permit slip was handed over, Ryan left, not even bothering to check whether he had everything required for the reconnaissance task.
With the new permit slip, Xu Feng found it laughable. The previous time he received one, he ended up in solitude in an isolated area.
Now this second permit slip was like the death sentence judgment.
'I swear I'm never going to attempt another nonsense trial like this again.' He thought.
Sometime later, Xu Feng arrived at the deboarding line and waited for his turn. The process was rather smooth, almost as if they couldn't wait to send the people outside to Planet Zaun. There wasn't even much security or scrutiny being placed on the people who were deboarding.
It was just a simple show of permit slip and then you're out.
Upon getting out of the battleship, away from the protection it had offered, Xu Feng felt free.
However, it was only for a split second once he got a clearer understanding of the Planet Zaun.
'They really weren't kidding when they said Planet Zaun was an untamed world with an environment resembling a dense, alien rainforest.' He twitched his mouth, having been greeted by the not-so-great scenery.
There were massive, vine-covered trees that stretched high into the misty sky.
Additionally, their thick canopies cast everything below in a dim, greenish light, potentially affecting a person's vision if glanced at in a prolonged manner. The air was heavy with moisture, and every breath carried the faint, earthy scent of decay mixed with an odd metallic tang.
Despite being equipped in a special uniform, Xu Feng found himself to have some difficulty breathing normally.
Aside from that, the ground was blanketed with dense vegetation, making every step an effort to push through tangled roots, oversized leaves, and shrubs.
Had it been just that, then Xu Feng wouldn't have minded it much. Unfortunately, some of the roots seemed to be monsters in disguise, eagerly waiting for unsuspected folk to walk through and ensnare them.
"Be careful of your footing. One careless mistake and all your blood would be drained dry!" The person leading in the front, who was more experienced and familiar with Planet Zaun warned the group once a careless person was caught. Read latest chapters at My Virtual Library Empire
Besides the monster-disguised roots, there were numerous strange plants with glowing tendrils or pulsating bulbs that lined the forest floor, with some emitting faint clicks or rustling sounds as if aware of movement nearby.
Instantaneously, the supposed group leader retrieved their laser gun and shot at those tendrils in a systematic manner.
"Quickly eliminate those tendrils. They are like surveillance and once they manage to send a signal, our established base would be infiltrated and raided by them." The group leader warned solemnly, prompting the rest to hurriedly react in time to eliminate the tendrils.
And to ensure he wouldn't be suspected, Xu Feng also retrieved the laser gun that was given to him during the deboarding checkout line as a form of defense.
With his precision, he could easily kill a ton of tendrils, but in the end, he refrained from such action.
One out of four bullets that he shot would land whereas the rest were whiffed, or close to hitting.
'It's best not to expose myself.' Xu Feng thought, unwilling to take the spotlight. This time, he was indeed going to stay lowkey and actually follow through with it.
Sure enough, once all the tendrils in the perimeter were eliminated, the group leader began praising a few individuals who performed well, completely ignoring Xu Feng's horrendous accuracy.
"Planet Zaun is still a relatively newly discovered planet so we don't have much data aside from what I've just said earlier." The group leader took the center and informed the newcomers, as well as people who had explored since the first discovery.
As the group leader gazed around, he suddenly asked, "Who here is Mike from the Reconnaissance Division?"
"I-It's me." Raising his hand, Xu Feng responded timidly.
Nodding in understanding, the group leader smiled and said, "Your supervisor has informed me that you're the best trainee and you have applied to go solo without any assistance. He also told me not to restrain and let you through because of your timid nature, so go ahead and do your reconnaissance for Battleship Lux."
