Chapter 629: Roy
Within the Battleship Lux, everything was sparkly cleaned, with cleaning robots actively on duty.
There wasn't even a speck of dust possible, given they would be almost cleaned immediately by the robots.
Since cleanliness was that strict, the equipment storage that contained lots of precious tools would be kept in top-tier condition as well.
Yet here he was, seeing a box that couldn't be any worse in condition.
'Did I choose the wrong person to disguise or did the Trial make the modification?' Xu Feng truly wondered about the possibility.
And what he came up with was that it didn't matter which trainee he chose to disguise, the end result would still be the same. The only thing different might be the circumstances and development.
Sighing Xu Feng could only pray the content inside the equipment box was at least something he could use.
As he kicked aside the cobwebs which shouldn't even have existed in the battleship, Xu Feng then blew off the dust and opened the box.
Once the box was opened, Xu Feng's memory seemed to be injected with new information from the system itself that described the three items.
—
Holo-Mapper: A compact device that scanned terrain up to 100 kilometers and generated a detailed 3D holographic map.
Spectral Binoculars: High-tech binoculars that provide thermal imaging, night vision, and long-range zoom capabilities.
Pulse Beacon: A lightweight tracker that emitted a signal to mark locations or alert allies of danger within a limited radius.

Although it was just three items like they had mentioned, they were definitely practical. It just wasn't overly advanced and completely fit the idea of the most basic equipment possible for reconnaissance tasks.
However, when one considers the dangerous and possible infectious environment revolving around Planet Zaun, these three items were definitely not enough to accomplish any proper reconnaissance.
Xu Feng chuckled at the sight of these three items, choosing to store them in his inventory.
'At least it wasn't defective or near broken down. Otherwise, they are really going to see me make a fuss.' He thought, clearly not going to allow such a scenario to pass by.
Despite the shabby box, the items themselves were in perfect condition.
Maybe that was going to be their way of skirting off responsibility if he were to die.
After all, a deceased crewmate being equipped with faulty equipment wouldn't look good to begin with. They couldn't possibly risk any internal investigation of foul play being involved.
Sometime later, Xu Feng walked out of the Equipment Storage, only to be halted by the same woman.
"Wait, go through that scanner." The woman pointed at a scanner used to detect items. Her point was pretty clear: she didn't trust him.
He remained silent and gladly walked through the scanner which showed a green light.
Only when the green light was displayed did the woman tell Xu Feng to leave right away, clearly unwilling to interact further with him.
Naturally, Xu Feng held the same thought and didn't even bother addressing her formally or politely. There was no need to anyway.
As Xu Feng was disallowed from walking around due to the time constraint, Ryan had assigned a space specifically for him.
It was said that this was to ensure he remained in top health condition, but Xu Feng knew they weren't that kind-hearted. Rather than claiming it was for his health, it was more for an easier inspection for them to ensure he wouldn't escape or be late again.
Hilariously enough, Ryan even managed to assign a Trainee from the Medical Division to oversee him.
"I'm Roy, a Cleric Trainee. Do let me know if you are feeling unwell or anything." The Trainee was Roy, who seemed nonchalant and distanced with his words.
"I-I'm alright…" Xu Feng kept on his act and responded.
However, much to his surprise, Roy continued to retrieve his medical kit and approached him closer.
"I've heard from the other trainees that you are assigned reconnaissance duty," Roy whispered softly. "I'm not one to meddle in other business, but I should let you know that there's been a Trainee in our division being on the wanted list and an Assistant Supervisor being labeled as a traitor."
"Eh? I'm not sure what you mean by those." Xu Feng scratched his head on the surface, acting confused. But silently, he was wondering what Roy was up to.
Could it be that his disguise had been exposed? Or did he have another ulterior motive?
Sure enough, Roy didn't conceal his intention and said, "There's something wrong in Planet Zaun and I hope you can gather some of the natural resources from there to bring it to me. I wished to conduct private research on it. In exchange, I'll give you some medicine that could possibly help you from contracting any viruses."
Narrowing his eyes, Xu Feng clenched his fist. "What are you trying to imply? Are you implying that the battleship is sending me to my death?"
"A fellow trainee of mine and the assistant supervisor have fallen because of the infectious incident. Since you're considered a dead man now, why don't you and I work together?"
"Are you not afraid of me snitching you out?"
"You could, but who would believe your words?"
"..."
Filled with suspicion, Xu Feng didn't understand Roy's goal.
"I can't prove my words to you, but you just need to know I've been assigned here to investigate the abnormality with the battleship," Roy explained softly and stood up.
"Alright, your condition is good. If there's anything else abnormal, feel free to call me. Otherwise, don't bother with my studies."
Shortly after saying that, Roy left the room, leaving him alone.
His words might have implied further treatment, but Xu Feng understood what that meant.
'He's assigned by someone to investigate the abnormality here huh.' He pondered silently. This was a new clue or hint to the main storyline that he had been trying to search for. Experience more content on My Virtual Library Empire
It appeared that he was getting closer to the end goal, with Planet Zaun possibly being the last destination point for him to get a breakthrough.
