"The reconnaissance this time that we must do is expanding the scope by at least 100 kilometers. However, the monsters that roamed around the planet are still unknown and we've received news that fellow crewmates of ours have been infected." Ryan announced and swept his gaze around the crowd.
He then paused at Xu Feng with a reluctant expression. "Mike, you are assigned the 70 kilometers to gather intelligence and terrains of the area."
When the other Trainees heard that, none of them made a single complaint.
Without a doubt, everyone knew that the goal might have been 100 kilometers, but it was just a pipe dream to expand the scope by that much.
Previous data had already shown that the Battleship Lux failed after the 40-kilometer mark and was forced to retreat due to infected crewmates. They only returned to Planet Zaun now after stocking up on supplies and resources to combat the unknown bacteria or virus.
Despite this, the circumstances and conditions didn't seem ideal, but they still had to do their job as the Reconnaissance Division.

Life in the battleship was competitive, so for Mike to remain on the ship for that long was already a miracle.
Now was the time for him to be the guinea pig and sacrifice that the Reconnaissance Division needed.
After all, if reports of a fellow crewmate had fallen while doing the reconnaissance work, they could easily make excuses that the area was too dangerous to continue.
'No wonder that Mike was so timid earlier.' Xu Feng realized why the original Mike was so nervous and anxious to make his way to the center.
It appeared that the original Mike wasn't naive enough to not know his death was coming soon once he arrived at the center.
Maybe that was precisely why it became easy for Xu Feng to knock him out cold. After all, he had technically snatched the death flag away from Mike.
However, Xu Feng was more than pleased that he now had a legitimate excuse and permission to step foot on Planet Zaun.
During the past few days when he was still confined in the isolated area, he had been trying to request to enter the planet, only to be ghosted. Now, without exerting any effort, he was being shoved to the planet.
Still, Xu Feng didn't break his character and timidly accepted Ryan's order.
"Y-Yes, I will get ready for the reconnaissance." He stutteringly said, much to the satisfaction of Ryan.
"Good, you can grab the necessary equipment later on. Remember, you are only allowed to take what has been assigned to you." Ryan clasped his hands and began to instruct the other Trainees.
Their other works were more lightweight and relatively safe. All they had to do was set up a recon signal and coordinate with the Engineer Division at the established base.
Time quickly passed by, and Xu Feng, along with the other Reconnaissance Trainees was dismissed.
While the other Trainees went to do their own duty before the actual landing, Xu Feng went to the equipment storage.
It was just a shame that the equipment storage was overseen by another person.
"Name, rank, and reason for your presence." The person was a woman who held a fierce expression on her face. Her expression was unfriendly and disgusted by Xu Feng's appearance.
From his experience, Xu Feng instantly knew the cause of her reaction. 'She knows who Mike was. His reputation as timid and cowardly behavior really didn't disappoint.'
These kinds of characteristics traits would have been fine if Mike was the protagonist of something, given the plot armor would have been mega thick.
Unfortunately, Mike was no protagonist, and neither does he have something called plot armor. Or maybe he does, given Xu Feng had chosen him to undergo a supposed suicide task.
"I'm Mike, a Rank 9 Trainee." Xu Feng lowered his head and responded.

Speechless, the fierce woman nearly wanted to throw a punch at Xu Feng for his response.
"I've asked for your name, rank, and reason for your presence. Are you deaf or just plain dumb?" She raised her tone and said in an irritated tone.
"Ahh… I was assigned the task of reconnaissance duty from Supervisor Ryan to scope the 70 kilometers." Xu Feng shrieked in fear and clarified.
"Oh, so that's what Ryan assigned you." Nodding, the woman smirked and continued, "You are only assigned three basic pieces of equipment and it's labeled. Don't you dare think of touching other precious equipment!"
Xu Feng quickly bowed his head, gave his thanks, and entered the Equipment Storage.
However, while entering, he heard the woman muttering something.
"Heh, another dead Trainee is upcoming. At least Ryan knew to finally get rid of that disgusting pest."
When Xu Feng heard that muttering, he feigned ignorance of the matter. After all, it might have been muttering, but with how silent the area was. It became clear that the woman meant to have him hear what she said.
'Phew, discrimination because of a weak personality.' Although Xu Feng was guilty of this crime as well, he didn't really feel any remorse. This was especially true when he was currently residing in the interstellar era.
Such a personality was just asking to be the first one to be taken advantage of at any second.
A few seconds later, Xu Feng found the equipment box which had the name "Timid Mike" labeled on it.
Not to mention, the placement of the equipment box was surprisingly close to the entrance door, almost as if they wanted him to get it and get out as soon as possible.
'How amusing. They seriously wanted a legitimate reason for Mike to die.' He smiled coldly. The equipment box was filled with cobwebs and dust, meaning it should have been there for a long time already.
