Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 626: Robots

Time was ticking down, and soon, the robots arrived on his floor, their metallic frames glinting under the dim lighting.

Taking a deep breath, Xu Feng monitored their movements through his tablet screen, waiting for the moment they turned toward the doors.

His heartbeat remained steady, his mind calculating the perfect timing. 'The robots really are taking their sweet time.'

Although arriving at his floor, the robots didn't try to scan the dorm immediately. Instead, they inspected the surroundings first, ensuring no one was outside of their dorm.

Had it not been for their diligence or program, then Xu Feng wouldn't have been forced to patiently wait inside his dorm.

Thankfully, their inspection was rather swift, having finished in less than a minute.

As the robots turned their infrared scanners from sweeping the corridor with red beams toward the doors, Xu Feng sprang into action.

He slipped through the door in near silence, a glint of metal flashing in his hand as he fired the Phantom Grappling Hook toward the ceiling. The action made a small sound, but it didn't warrant enough sound to alert the robots, given the ship's turmoil and sound itself that helped mask it.

And with what he calculated in mind, Xu Feng closed the door behind him before propelling himself upward.

The sequence was executed with fluid efficiency—until the unexpected occurred.

The ceiling, made from an alloy designed to withstand extreme forces, proved too resistant for the hook. The sharp tip scraped against the surface, struggling to gain purchase, the screech of metal on metal breaking the silence.

'Damn, they didn't cheap out on the materials.' Xu Feng didn't anticipate this factor would become a problem.

His eyes flicked upward, his body suspended mid-air as the hook dangled precariously. He clenched his jaw and tried to remain still as much as possible.

The more he moved, the quicker the latch would unhook which would result in him falling straight down to the bunch of robots with their infrared scanners active.

Alas, even when motionless, his weight alone was enough to cause a squeaking noise to escape.

Sooner or later, the robots would detect something abnormal and look up.

'Ugh, I've been too complacent.' He realized just how pathetic he was when he had everything nerfed to the ground.

Now, suspended by the fragile hook, and the robots were closing in, Xu Feng didn't panic. He merely self-reflected that his actions had been far too quick and needed to patiently ponder over it next time. Just at this moment, he felt the hook detach a bit more, nearly causing his body to lower or drop down.

The weight of his body along with the gravity pulling down was forcing the hook to become more unsteady.

While Xu Feng was struggling to remain on the top, he realized the robots seemed more adamant in scanning. Rather than spending the usual 5 seconds, they were taking 10 seconds.

'Hmm, could it be…' A thought suddenly appeared in his mind.

Since Xu Feng knew the original Michael's data was probably in the Battleship Lux database. Then it was pretty obvious they would know he once resided on this floor.

In other words, it was possible that he had made friends with fellow Trainees during this time. Thus, it was definitely a possibility that some of the Trainees would be harboring him.

By that train of logic, having the robots take a few more seconds to thoroughly verify and confirm there were no other people inside the dorm aside from the supposed Trainee wasn't a big deal to eliminate that possibility.

Of course, it meant that it was also a chance for Xu Feng to quickly re-grapple on another to reposition himself.

However, he didn't act right away when the robots started to scan the next dorm. After all, what would happen if it was just a one-time thing, then he would have delivered himself to the enemies.

'If only I can hack into these robots.' Xu Feng smiled bitterly. It was just a pity that he was not a tech guru, who could easily manipulate or alter the codes programmed in the robots.

Otherwise, his situation wouldn't have been so pitiful.

Sometime later, once the robots indeed took 10 seconds to finish scanning, Xu Feng knew he had to risk it in the next phase. The robots were fast approaching his direction, and if it weren't for the grappling hook wiggling constantly, he wouldn't have needed to risk anything.

'I'll need to reattach and launch it more thoroughly.' He thought, squinting his eyes as he checked the ceiling for a weaker spot.

Thankfully, the ceiling had very minimal cracks in between, probably because of the cement or related materials used during the construction.

With that decided, Xu Feng shifted his attention to the robots, who were starting to turn around and head toward the next dorm for scanning.

'Now!' He swiftly unlatched the hook and dropped to the floor with minimal sound. The sound might have been low, but it was still enough to startle the robot.

However, he didn't let the situation overwhelm him as he quickly re-grappled onto the very small crack in the ceiling and propelled upward.

Right when he was propelled, one of the robots made a scan of Xu Feng's previous spot and detected nothing. Although he managed to safely escape detection this time, the sudden movement of the robot was enough to alert the person who would go over the data afterward if they were paying extreme attention.

'If basing the style of the trial, I'm sure they will figure it out rather quickly.' Xu Feng knew his plan wasn't flawless and was still on a time crutch.

Two weeks had gone by since he was playing the role of Michael, which meant there were only two weeks left.

And since one month in the trial was equivalent to one day in the Divine World, 12 hours must have gone by in the Divine World.

'What other key component am I missing here?' He wondered silently, feeling helpless at the objective of the Origin Trial.
