Reincarnated with a lucky draw system

Chapter 148: BREWING REBELLION II

Thanks to the wordplay of the Blue Star old leaders and a perfectly crafted propaganda, they all felt it was impossible for Aaron to rule them without bias, despite the good system already in place, the ignorant masses still doubted Aaron's rule. Only a few of the Immortals that had seen the biased side of the so called government begged to differ. The hybrids as well joined in their support for Aaron, creating two groups. One that supported Aaron, and the group that did not.

"Aaron Highborn. We appreciate your actions in helping humanity and ensuring we survived. But I expect you to do what is best for humanity. You lack the experience to lead the people the way we do from our many years of leadership. Now is not the time to play king, now is the time to choose what is best for humanity," the Stronghold Federation President took the lead, flying into the air as he spoke to the holographic sky hoping Aaron would hear him. If Aaron did not though, he was okay with it.

His purpose was not just to have a conversation with Aaron concerning the leadership. He actually did not know if his words were being transmitted to Aaron but it did not matter. That was not the main reason for his actions. The main reason was to rally the crowd around him. Gain as many supporters to pressure the other party, a political tactic that always worked for him, his voice booming to stir the masses below into fervent agreement.

"Hah. I should step down? For the sake of humanity? Fools," Aaron said coldly, enraged by Eric's hypocritical words, his fingers tightening on the throne in restrained fury. "I give you all twenty four hours to make your decision. Submit or not," Aaron said with finality, stopping the transmission, allowing the sky to return to its usual blue and white clouds, done offering his last ounce of mercy, his patience exhausted.

President Eric smiled, believing he had succeeded in the first part of outing Aaron. Pressure the leader until he is backed against a wall and has no choice but to resort to democracy to get the people's opinion and avoid riot. An action that will seal his fate and his loss. It had always worked for him, and he strongly believed it would not fail once more. But one thing he failed to put into consideration was the man he was playing the game against, a ruler whose power transcended mortal politics.

----

"We are all here. Let's have a brief discussion within the next one hour and continue our task of convincing as many people as we can," Eric moderated the impromptu meeting among the big brasses and top leaders of Blue Star, their faces illuminated by the dim light of a secluded chamber, ambition thick in the air.

"So? He is one of your citizens. I cannot believe you have failed in putting him in his place. Kind of disappointing if you ask me," Clifford, king of the largest empire in Arik continent, blamed, his voice dripping with scorn as he leaned back in his seat.

"His parents were demigods. You do not expect me to be strict with him and risk public resentment for harming the child of heroes. Do not tell me your brain has rotted and you do not know how to handle public image anymore," Eric clapped back, his eyes flashing with defiance, the tension between them crackling like a live wire.

"Now is not the time to pass blame. How do we pressure him to drop his role as the leader when using the masses against him does not work. From what I have gathered of him, it seems he is quite the stubborn young man," King broke the standoff between Clifford and Eric, his tone measured to refocus the group on their common goal.

"We just pressure him even more. There is no way he can ignore the decision of the vast majority. No one can ever withstand that pressure. The masses when properly used will always remain the most powerful tool in politics," Abyss said calmly, confident in his words, his fingers steepled as he envisioned their victory.

"In that case, let's discuss how to divide the territories among ourselves," King proposed, everyone paying absolute attention to the conversation they had all been dying for. The sharing of territories, the greed in their eyes ignited to life, their voices rising in eager debate as they carved up imaginary borders.

"Fools," Aaron said coldly, watching Blue Star's important figures fool themselves and divide his territory like he was ever planning to give them a slice of it. Within Athanys he held absolute control and every secret plan against him was just as easily exposed, their whispers as clear to him as if spoken in his presence.

"I think those leaders are the ones inciting the people. If we can deal with them, I am sure the vast majority of the citizens will fall in line," Blade suggested, his voice earnest as he sought a swift resolution.

"That is your mistake Blade. I am not looking for approval from any of them. The public or the leaders. If they will not offer their absolute loyalty then they are not needed. The sanctuary is mine. Their lives are mine. They have no future without me. So what makes them think I will offer my authority to them just because they asked?" Aaron asked, tapping his fingers on his armrest lazily, his gaze distant yet piercing.

"So? What do you propose my lord? I can handle the situation and capture all of them and imprison them to quell the unrest," Isobel offered a counter solution, her eyes gleaming with readiness to enforce his will.

"Your opportunity to act ended the moment I saw the mess. I will handle things my way," Aaron replied, rising to his feet as he made his way out of the courtroom, his mind made up on how to deal with the rebellion the moment everything was over, his steps echoing with finality.

"Isobel. Come with me," Aaron called for his sister, it was finally time to meet his parents, a moment heavy with unspoken emotions amid the brewing storm.
