Chapter 147: BREWING REBELLION I

"Let's get out of here," Ignis growled to his group, his fiery eyes scanning the void with lingering suspicion, the remnants of Blue Star's shattered debris drifting around them like silent witnesses to their narrow victory. "We are done here," he added, his voice cold and final, echoing faintly in the empty expanse.

"Tsk. Guess we will be returning the hard way. The mounts were caught up in the battle," Loki pointed out, his sly tone edged with irritation as he glanced at the vacant space where their celestial steeds had been obliterated, his hands on his hips in exaggerated frustration.

"That's the littlest of our worries. We just encountered a monster that we barely killed. Dracula's cursed bloodline, always an annoyance to encounter," Ignis spat, his flames flickering with disdain, the memory of Aaron's temporal tricks still burning in his mind like an unextinguished spark.

"We don't have time for chit chat. The faster we leave the better for us. I don't intend on wasting much time in this backward part of the universe," Thor said, his voice a low rumble of impatience. He flew toward the direction they had all come from, not in the mood to waste any more time that he already lacked, the journey home without a mount stretching longer than usual across the vast cosmic distances.

With Thor leading the way, the rest followed suit, their forms vanishing into the starry depths, oblivious to what had truly transpired, the dormant blood in their veins a hidden threat waiting for Aaron's command.

Aaron returned to the sanctuary of Athanys, materializing in its bustling heart to find it alive with activity. More vacancies had been filled as Blue Star's powerhouses integrated seamlessly, proving their worth in key roles. Crucial noble houses were swiftly established, and a perfect ecosystem was gradually forming, a harmonious blend of strength and structure. But amid the growth and progress lurked an undercurrent of conflict and rebellion, a subtle discord that tainted the air like a gathering storm. Arriving unannounced, Aaron observed the divide among the inhabitants, particularly between his loyal hybrids and most of the Eternals from Blue Star. He spent time undercover, his return unknown, gathering insights into the reasons behind the tense atmosphere pervading his sanctuary. After obtaining the information he needed, he manipulated the fabric of space within Athanys, appearing instantly in his grand courtroom, the chamber's crystalline walls shimmering with ethereal light.

Controlling the space of the sanctuary once more, he drew everyone recorded as a noble in the archive of his Imperial Codex into the courtroom, their figures materializing in a ripple of energy.

"My lord. You are back," Blade was the first to speak, offering a humble bow to Aaron. The others familiar with him did the same genuinely, while the newly appointed nobles with no knowledge of Aaron simply followed the others, their gestures tentative but respectful.

"Indeed I am. Now anyone cares to inform me what's up with the tense atmosphere within Athanys?" Aaron asked, despite knowing the reason he still posed the question. It was less about uncovering the cause and more about understanding why the issue had not been addressed in his absence. He had initially planned to take some rest upon his return after the rollercoaster of events he had endured, but seeing his empire in such a strained mood, he could not rest easy until it was all sorted out, his sense of responsibility overriding fatigue.

"Majority of people from Blue Star that has joined our empire desire the sanctuary to be ruled the same way it was back on Blue Star, and behind them are the leaders of Blue Star," Isobel informed. "They wish to change the structure of the empire from an imperial form with you as the head to a more decentralized format where there will be different nations just like on Blue Star while they take control with you acting as the ceremonial leader. With the sanctuary bigger than Blue Star, they have requested we divide the territories with the same percentage data as we had while on Blue Star."

"So basically these ingrates want to play kings in my house?" Aaron asked, his eyes cold as ice, his voice carrying a edge of suppressed fury.

"Yes. We tried to make them fall in line, but they have the support of the majority of the citizens from Blue Star, making it hard for us to make them comply," Alice added, her tone laced with frustration at the impasse.

"I see. I guess it's time I remind them all of who is the ruler," Aaron said calmly, tapping his armrest as he utilized his absolute control once more. Giving in to their demands was out of the question. They had worked for nothing, so they had no right to request anything from him, their entitlement a affront to his sovereignty.

Making up his mind, Aaron decided to offer a chance for redemption to everyone stirring the rebellion before he acted and delivered his wrath to the deserving, his mercy a calculated extension rather than weakness.

The entire sky of the sanctuary shifted from its clear blue color with white clouds to a giant hologram like screen across all of Athanys, broadcasting a live feed of Aaron to everyone, his image dominating the heavens.

"Greetings subjects of Athanys. I am Aaron Highborn. The one that gave you eternal life, the one that gave you a safe haven, free of worries and the terror you faced back on Blue Star and the one that you must serve without question. That is me. No one else," Aaron said calmly, his voice resonating with unyielding authority, carrying to every corner of his realm.

Every being within the sanctuary listened to Aaron intently, captivated by the aura the young man exuded, his presence commanding respect even through the broadcast, a palpable force that silenced the bustling activity below.

But yet, the minds of the majority of the Immortals did not change. They felt awe only and that was it. Within their hearts that had been successfully brainwashed and won over by the old leaders since entering the sanctuary, they still did not consider Aaron their leader. They did not want Aaron as their leader as they craved the stable political structure they once had on Bluestar.
