Reincarnated Wehraboo's Revenge

Chapter 62: Explanation

At the dinner table, Erika, Maruschka and Hanna sat on one side of the dinning table.

On the other side sat, Lady and Lord Landsturm and Walther and Erika's mother serially.

Erika was seating between the other girls.

It was more like an interrogation than a family dinner.

Erika was scared about what question she'd be asked and how she'll answer them.

Everyone was eating quietly. Only Hanna and Maruschka seemed lively around Erika.

After some time passed like this, Erika's mother started the conversation.

"So, Erika do you mind explaining how you're able to rescue your father from the royal palace and how you dealt with the kingdom's Royal Army?"

Her eyes glared as she looked at Erika with curiosity as to how she may answer.

Everyone's gazes fixated on Erika. They were all excited to see what she may answer.

Hanna and Maruschka were more curious and eager to know.

They both wanted to know more about their lady Erika.

Erika swallowed hard.

"Umm, actually, it's not what you think." She said hesitantly.

"It's just that they were able to sneak in as palace workers." She spoke.

"And the weapons they used were just a way to amplify their offensive magic power. It's something I learnt at the academy." She explained.

However, her parents were not yet satisfied with this answer.

It only explained half of the things.

"So how did you get an army large enough to fight off the Kingdom's army?"

The one who asked this time was Erika's father.

He knew the size of the Royal Army and wanted to know how Erika got an army large enough to take care of it.

"Umm, actually we cheated." Erika said after thinking for a while about what to say.

"What do you mean you cheated? How can someone cheat in a war?!"

"We attacked at night when the Royal Army was camping at night." She started explaining.

"Using the magical equipments we burnt down the tents in which the soldiers were resting."

She explained her plans in half details, half true and half fantasy.

Hanna and Maruschka sitting beside her, were mesmerised at Erika's brilliant planning.

But not so much her parents. They were having conflicted feelings about their daughter.

"Oh, by the way, would lord and lady Landsturm return to their territory tomorrow?" Erika asked.

Mostly to divert the topic but she also had some other considerations to make.

She wanted to free up her regiment stuck in their territory for operations against the kingdom.

She was also concerned about the political implications of positioning a regiment in another territory while the lord is clearly missing.

In the years of her second life Erika matured a lot.

Already sixteen in her previous life and spending more years inside the game helped her a lot.

However, the most experience she gained was in the royal academy. Specially when she saw the prince meticulously conspiring against her and her family.

After four days she believed that it is important to withdraw her Brandenburg Regiment from the Landsturm.

"Ah, yes sure. That was our original plan." Lord Landsturm said.

"Erika!" Her mother glared at her.

"You can't ask our guests to leave like that." She scolded.

Erika was taken aback. She felt a little guilt for saying it like that.

It seems she hasn't matured enough yet.

"Damn, I was only thinking political matters and not the social side of things." She scolded herself.

"Uh, excuse me I didn't mean it like that." She said slowly.

"Ah, no lady Erika is right. We have to return back to our territory. Otherwise things will be in chaos." Lady Landsturm said.

She was conflicted with the situation.

First she was feeling guilty for not trusting Erika secondly, she was happy when Erika helped their entire family during their crisis.

Now seeing their savior getting scolded she couldn't remain calm.

Hanna felt sad. She didn't want to leave Erika and return back.

"Oh, that means lady Hanna will also leave. I will miss you." Maruschka said hiding her smile.

She was happy about the Landsturms leaving, and wanted to rub it in Hanna's face as her clear victory.

"Won't you return back to your orphanage lady Maruschka?" Hanna said gritting her teeth and with an awkward smile.

"Yes, but don't worry I'll take care of lady Erika on your behalf." Maruschka said teasing Hanna.

"The three soldiers who rescued you before will go with you tomorrow as escorts." Erika suddenly spoke looking at Lord Landsturm.

"Oh no, that won't be necessary. You don't have to trouble them." Lord Landsturm said surprised.

"No, please I insist. Take them with you." Erika pressured.

Finally Landsturm gave in. He agreed to take the soldiers with them.

"Alright, all I have to do is gave Jerry a map tomorrow." Erika thought.

After dinner, everyone retired to their rooms for the night.

While Lady and Lord Landsturm prepared to leave for their territory next day, Hanna spoke to them.

"Mother, father, I want to stay here with Erika." She said hesitantly.

"Huh, why? She has already helped us so much. Don't increase the burden on her and her family." Lady Landsturm said.

Only she was the one who actually had a small luggage. So the packing ended very soon.

"I know she is your friend. But you can't just stay here like this."

This time Lord Landsturm tried to convince her.

But Hanna was also not prepared to go down. Her biggest tension was leaving Erika alone with Maruschka.

"I can't let the commoner left alone with my Erika. Who knows what bad influence she'd have on her." Hanna thought.

Thinking for a while, she came up with another solution for now.

"So, if Erika allows it then I can stay here?" She asked.

This question caught her parents off-guard. They thought for an appropriate response for a while.

"Sure, but don't you want to go back to your own home?" Lord Landsturm said breaking the temporary silence.

"Won't you miss us?" He said.

Hanna looked down. She was now conflicted. She didn't know how to choose between Erika and her parents.

"Sigh, it's alright. Don't be so sad. You can stay here if the Raubenbraums allow you." Her mother said.

"We were supposed to be apart for three years anyways." She said.

Hanna's eyes sparkled. She couldn't believe what she heard.

"Really! I can stay here?!" She asked aloud in joy.

"Thank you mother, father." She hugged them.

"But only if the Raubenbraums allow you to." Her mother said patting her head.

"And don't be a burden on Erika." Her father said with a straighter face.

"And do try to learn to be a bit mature from her." He added.

"Sure," Hanna rushed out of the room.

"Hey, where are you....." Lord Landsturm said.

"That girl!" He sighed.

The couple returned to their work.

Hanna rushed into Erika's room and snuck into her bed.

Erika doesn't generally sleep without locking the doors to her room. So Hanna was able to enter without a problem.

She cuddled up to Erika and slept in her arms by herself.

Next day Erika woke up to a surprise. She has been an early bird for years.

Everyday she woke up early to avoid her family's scrutiny. And today she was even more eager to know how the operations went last night.

As she opened her eyes, she felt something awkward.

Looking closely she saw that Hanna was sleeping beside her and her head was buried in her bosom.

Erika couldn't understand why Hanna always did this. But now it was even more serious.

She noticed one of her arms was over her while the other under her.

She sighed, "What's wrong with this girl?!" She thought.

However, she let it slide. She was far too excited to see what happened last night than this.

So she gently removed Hanna a little to free her arm and got up from bed.

Before Hanna woke up she went to the bathroom to wash her face and change her clothes.

Since it was morning and everyone was still sleeping, she decided to change into her field grey uniform directly.

Maruschka who also got up early and was planning to go to Erika's room as well saw Erika run out of her room discreetly in the weird clothes.

She wanted to ask Erika about it herself, but decided to follow her secretly because she was acting strange.

Maruschka saw Erika meet up with Emil and Bauer.

"Oh, kommandant, they gave salutes. You are already prepared to go to the barracks?!" Bauer said.

Maruschka got even more curious seeing Bauer, the maid in similar clothes though she didn't recognise Emil.

"Why'd the maid and master were the similar dress?" She couldn't help but ask herself.

She followed them through the town and was surprised to see them go to the dark forest.

She heard about it during classes and from Erika herself.

She felt a little creeped out near the dark forest but couldn't give up the curiosity to follow Erika.

"Lady Erika is too close to that clingy noble girl nowadays. So I will not give up this chance to 1 up her." She said.

"Lady Erika, wait!" She screamed out to her when she saw them entering the huge barracks guarded by people in similar clothes.

"HUh, Maruschka what are you doing here?!" Erika was surprised.

Maruschka ran up to her standing in front of Erika, she said:

"I saw you sneaking out of your room so decided to follow you."

"Go home. I have works to do. I will explain things later." Erika tried to make her leave.

"I want to know more about you lady Erika, please." She insisted on staying.

"Please, let me work for you." She pleaded.

Erika rubbed her forehead looking at Emil, Bauer and the sentries present.

"Fine come in. But not a single word to anyone at home. UNDERSTOOD." Erika pressed her.

Maruschka didn't care about it. She was happy to be let in on Erika's work.

She was mesmerised at the large camp and seeing the similarly dressed highly disciplined soldiers going on about their duty.

No one looked at her, no one spoke to her. Everyone was doing their own activities.

Some jogging around, some standing in front of some structures, some doing exercise.

They entered a house which had something written that Maruschka couldn't read.

Taking Maruschka to the top floor, Erika asked her to wait as she along with Bauer and Emil entered the room in front.

She tried to see what's inside but the sentry in front closed the door.

She was given a chair to sit and wait. But she felt scared as the sentry in front of the door stood straight without any movement.

She tried not to look at him and waited for Erika afraid that she might hate her if she did something wrong.

Inside Erika was very pleased to learn about what happened last night. She was very pleased with the actions of the scout company.
