Volume 1 Chapter 55
The term ‘doujinshi’ generally refers to fan-made comics based on certain themes, mostly derivative works. Among them, adult-themed doujinshi make up the majority. While there are also original and all-ages doujinshi, generally speaking, ‘doujinshi’ refers to adult-themed ones.
Popular works often spawn a lot of adult-themed doujinshi. For example, for me, Anastasia, adult-themed doujinshi about me are simply referred to as ‘Anna Books.’
Even among adult-themed doujinshi, there are various kinds. There are pure love stories between the female and male protagonists, and there are NTR stories where the female protagonist is in love with the male protagonist but succumbs to someone else.
As for me—
“Most of yours, Miss Anna, are humiliation-themed doujinshi.”
I was hit with this quite shocking truth.
At first, I would comment, “Beast-kin aren’t the type to drug people, right?” or “Lies! Time-stop can’t last that long!” or “Tentacle monster? I don’t recall such a creature!” or “I, I wouldn’t just after a few times…” But now, I’ve utterly lost hope.
“Please cheer up, Miss Anna!”
I hate all this H stuff…
If there’s a next life, please let me be reborn as a salted fish…
“Miss Anna has given up on thinking!”
“—I don’t understand!”
I slam the table, startling CaloCat.
“What’s wrong with pure love! Why does everyone want to see me overpowered by big men! And how weak do they think I am that I can’t even defeat goblins!”
“It’s, it’s for the plot, meow…”
What plot? In a novel, this kind of plot is just feeding crap, okay?
I admit I can’t show my full strength without my master, but me being weak doesn’t mean goblins have become strong. Believe it or not, I could solo a goblin tribe right now. I may be weak, but there’s no way I’d be captured by goblins.
“It means… Miss Anna is very popular, meow…”
Who measures popularity with doujinshi? There are almost triple-digit numbers of doujinshi where I fall with the Saintess. Doujinshi are actually like this… I’ve misjudged you all…
[Anastasia’s favorability toward “Anna Support Group” -1]
“…By the way, why is my character in these doujinshi so, um, out of character?”
“It’s common for characters to break in adult derivative works.”
“But in some pure love stories, I’m the one taking the lead, causing the master all kinds of trouble. Isn’t that strange?”
“Uh meow, it might be due to a very famous series, it’s a treasure of the Anna Support Group.”
Reportedly, in both doujin novels and doujinshi, my character leans toward being a “squeezer.”
CaloCat goes on to explain about one of my most popular adult-themed doujinshi series.
In the beginning, I had a useless little master. We were captured by bandits during a trip. I don’t understand why I made the foolish mistake of letting my master get captured, or why I surrendered so easily, but in any case, both my master and I were captured and taken to the bandits’ lair.
The following story involved dozens of bandits tormenting me who had lost the will to fight… all readers who boarded this train of thought didn’t know they were trapped.
The plot then takes a strange turn. As the saying goes, the field is never worn out, only the bull is tired. During the process, I awaken to a strange attribute.
The bandits, who had been taking turns, didn’t notice that I started to become more proactive. Much later, they realize that more and more of their comrades are collapsing from exhaustion. Unfortunately, it was too late. The plot changes to me single-handedly killing off the bandits, who flee in disarray.
The worst part is that the doujinshi website even has bullet screen comments. Gentlemen who took their hands off the keyboard for the first few minutes began sending bullet screen comments to cheer for the bandits. “Don’t give up, everyone!” “Give energy to these warriors who have contributed so much!” “Please survive, wish you all a peaceful life…”
But it didn’t help. The last bandit died drained by me, thinking about “I want to go home and get married.”
The comments exploded, filled with “All rise,” “Heroes never die,” “I cried, did you,” “Salute to the warriors,” “They create joy for us with their lives,” “I dare not watch the next episode,” “Humanity is doomed.” Despite the differences in language, race, and skin color, gentlemen from all over the world shed tears for the annihilation of this bandit group, forgetting that I was supposed to be the victim.
The doujinshi ends with me, who single-handedly drained the bandits, rescuing my master and going back to town to recuperate. But my master’s health deteriorates day by day. Even though he didn’t do anything, he looks more and more haggard each day.
One night, the master is awakened by some noise.
The doujinshi ends with “I’m sorry, Master… Anna has broken❤” and the terrified and despairing eyes of my little master.
The end.
Bad End?
The combination of an early art style that was easy to use, a storyline that was both practical and rich in gameplay, and the huge contrast in the later stages made this series leap to become one of the most classic adult-themed doujinshi of Anastasia. Every year on the release date, gentlemen from all over the world mourn for the bandits who bravely sacrificed themselves. Truly commendable.
“So, I’m basically a victim of slander?!”
“Yes…”
Without needing images, “Anna.jpg, Bandit.jpg,” a few simple words can evoke painful memories for countless gentlemen.
In conclusion, the only potentially useful knowledge I gained is that boys hide their doujinshi under their beds. I hope I never have to use this knowledge. By the way, I will definitely not be pleased because the master’s collection is all maid doujinshi.
Although it differs from my initial assumptions, at least I’ve figured out what doujinshi is.
CaloCat… should be a real fan of mine, knowing even the treasures of the Anna Support Group in detail.
I sort out my messy and complicated emotions and decide to introduce CaloCat to Lily.
