Reincarnated Maid is About To Be Captured by All Players

Volume 1 Chapter 56

“You’re back… What happened? You look like you’re completely drained.”

“Ignorance truly is bliss.”

How should I face the Anna Support Group in the future? Will a smile suffice?

Sigdrifa doesn’t understand what I’m talking about, and I don’t have the energy to explain it to her. I feel that if I keep dwelling on this, I’ll become an introverted maid. I might as well treat this memory as garbage.

Speaking of which, what kind of garbage would this be? Hazardous waste?

“It’s nothing, I think… Adventurer CaloCat can be trusted.”

“Since it’s your judgment, I won’t say more.”

I take Lily’s hand and lead her out of the bedroom towards the living room.

I had asked CaloCat to wait in the living room. As Lily and I descend the stairs, CaloCat’s ears twitch twice. Before I could introduce her, she notices Lily first.

“Is she… Miss Anna’s daughter, meow?”

Of course not! Why does everyone think Lily is my daughter? Do I look that old?

Meanwhile, CaloCat’s constantly twitching tail also catches Lily’s attention; her eyes almost turn into stars.

Standing in front of CaloCat, Lily places her hands on her skirt, hesitates for a moment, and then cautiously steals a glance at me.

I immediately realize what Lily wants to do and perform a perfect curtsy as a demonstration.

Though Lily tries to imitate it, unfortunately, the action of bending the knee and lightly touching the ground with one foot seems difficult for a child. Lily clumsily trips over her own feet.

I catch Lily in my arms and give CaloCat an apologetic smile. Luckily, CaloCat doesn’t seem to find it rude; her tail wags even faster, probably a sign of joy.

“Ama, Lily…”

Lily shyly introduces herself.

“CaloMeow… no, it’s CaloCat. Nice to meet you, meow~”

Despite Lily’s failed curtsy, she still manages to make a good first impression on CaloCat.

Evidence lies in the fact that CaloCat is trying her hardest to act cute in front of Lily, or should I say, fully performing as a cat-person, even shaping her mouth into a =ω= expression.

Lily and CaloCat are having a friendly conversation. As a guardian standing beside them, I focus my attention on observing CaloCat.

She is fully engaged in chatting with Lily, without any abrupt emotional changes. I couldn’t detect any surprises like the pop-up quest alerts.

I’m quite confident in my ability to read people. Moreover, allow me to apologize to Miss CaloCat first: her acting skills are objectively… at the level of “How to Annoy Your Actor Friends.” It’s obvious she’s trying to act cute; the only reason it works is that CaloCat is genuinely cute.

Hmm… Meeting Lily didn’t trigger a [Quest] alert for CaloCat?

Given this, perhaps my assumptions were incorrect; Lily doesn’t have the conditions to trigger hidden quests.

In the midst of my pondering, CaloCat, who is naturally outgoing, has already gotten along quite well with Lily.

“Cat Sister, Lily has something very, very, very important to ask Cat Sister.”

“Sure, meow~ I’d even pluck stars from the sky for you, meow~”

CaloCat agrees before Lily even makes her request. Encountering beast-kin like CaloCat isn’t unusual in the Mikael Kingdom due to its proximity to Arcadia. But for Lily to interact so affectionately with a cat-girl is probably a first for her.

She’s likely interested in CaloCat’s ears and tail. CaloCat seems to think so too; I can see she’s prepared to let Lily pet her.

“Lily wants to know how many ears Cat Sister has…” Lily gathers her courage.

“………………meow?”

Ah? Right.

I’m stunned for a moment. Unlike the pointed ears of elves, cat-people like CaloCat have cat ears on the top of their heads, much higher than where human ears would be, similar to wearing a cat-ear headband. CaloCat’s short hair does a good job hiding the area where human ears would be.

What Lily is curious about is whether CaloCat has human ears under her short, chestnut hair.

“No, no! That question is taboo for beast-kin, meow!”

CaloCat hastily covers her ears and backs away, crying.

It seems the innocent Lily has touched on a sensitive topic for CaloCat. Actually, I’m quite curious about how many ears CaloCat has as well.

“Tell Lily.”

“I told you, no! Help, meow!”

Lily and CaloCat start a game of chase. However, CaloCat is from the agile cat-people race, and Lily is wearing a skirt and can’t run fast. If CaloCat didn’t go easy on her, Lily would never catch up.

“Be careful, Lily.”

“I know~”

She’s recovered enough to run? I know my max-level [Healing] skill and meticulous care have accelerated Lily’s recovery to the maximum extent. But seeing this miraculous rate of recovery, it’s hard to imagine that when I found Lily a few days ago, she was critically injured.

Thud thud thud…

Someone is knocking at the door.

Today’s adventurer visit is earlier than usual.

After reminding Lily to be careful again, I hope today I can find a master suitable for hiring me.

However, when I open the door, the first visitor of the day is the long-unseen Captain Francois of the Guard.
