Volume 1 Chapter 54
“Lord CaloCat.”
I softly call out CaloCat’s ID. Perhaps because I’m standing behind her, she doesn’t hear me.
I lean forward slightly and blow a puff of air onto CaloCat’s fluffy cat ears.
CaloCat instantly bristles and dashes to the corner of the living room, assuming a defensive crouch.
“No way, meow! I may be cute and charming, but that’s too sudden, meow! I’m not that kind of person…!”
Clearly a misunderstanding.
“Lord CaloCat, it’s not what you’re thinking.”
“Meow? Just fooling around without any feelings involved, meow?”
“…No. It’s complicated to explain, but I assure you, I have no inappropriate intentions toward Lord CaloCat.”
“Eh? Really?”
CaloCat turns around, her eyes still brimming with tears. It seems I’ve genuinely frightened her.
Well, considering my previous status, if I suddenly found out that someone I was staying with was gay, I’d get goosebumps too.
So, I assure CaloCat with utmost seriousness.
“I swear by the name of a maid.”
“…Oh.”
CaloCat blinks, seemingly believing my promise. However, her cat ears and tail droop, giving me the impression that she’s somewhat disappointed.
Thinking about it, my way of refusal might have been inappropriate… after all, Miss CaloCat is a very charming girl. I’ll need to be more cautious in the future.
CaloCat sits back down on the sofa, her tail beginning to sway rhythmically again.
“I have no experience serving beast-kin. If there’s anything I do that’s offensive or inadequate, please let me know, Lord CaloCat.”
“No problem, meow.”
The comfort of sleep affects the state of a character upon waking. “Sleep deprivation” is a type of Debuff. It seems beast-kin can adapt to human beds, as Miss CaloCat seems fully energized.
“Actually, Miss Anna doesn’t need to be so formal. I’m a fan of Miss Anna and I came to visit you because I want to be friends with you~”
I appreciate CaloCat’s kind intentions, but this isn’t formality; it’s courtesy.
“My fan… Speaking of which, there’s a fan club named after me in the Kingdom of Mikael, called the Anna Support Group. Are you a member, Lord CaloCat?”
“Of course! The Anna Support Group… although it has a somewhat dubious reputation, all the members are super fond of Miss Anna~”
CaloCat admits her membership in the Anna Support Group, making things much easier.
“So, you must know about ‘doujinshi,’ right?”
“Meow meow meow?!”
“Is it strange? I’ve been in contact with members of the Anna Support Group, and they’ve all been discussing doujinshi.”
“Been in contact?”
CaloCat seems taken aback, but I don’t mind.
If CaloCat is a true fan of mine, she should know about this thing called doujinshi. It circulates among the core members of the Anna Support Group and is surely a testament to being a true fan.
My plan is to ask CaloCat about what doujinshi is. This will not only earn me CaloCat’s trust but also answer my own questions. The next time I meet members of the Anna Support Group, we can all happily discuss doujinshi.
“Um, this meow… I suddenly have something to do, wait for me for a few minutes, meow!”
“Eh?”
She logged out at the speed of light.
Well, players can’t stay in the virtual world all day; she might actually have something urgent to attend to in real life.
Efficient time management is fundamental for a maid. During CaloCat’s offline time, I prepare breakfast for four in the kitchen. I leave one portion in the living room and take the other three back to the bedrooms.
Returning to the bedroom, Hegdrifa has already freed herself, put on her clothes, and is sitting on the bed, massaging her sore arm.
I’m not surprised that Hegdrifa was able to free herself. Moon elves have a special talent in “Stealth,” and the top-level magic in stealth, “Phasing,” allows them to temporarily pass through matter and magic. It can be used both for passing through walls and evading magical attacks.
I had guessed during our previous engagement that Hegdrifa has a strong “Stealth” ability and would likely use “Phasing.” Phasing one’s entire body is extremely difficult, but phasing specific parts of one’s arm is relatively easy.
“It won’t be so easy next time.”
I sternly warn Hegdrifa.
Hegdrifa just says, “Yes, yes, yes,” and nonchalantly grabs a vegetable sandwich from the food tray. Elves generally don’t eat meat, which is ironic for a race that claims to be close to nature.
“How did it go? Can we trust her?”
“I can’t be certain yet. Once I do trust her, I’ll bring you to the living room.”
“Do we have a guest? Sister Anna?”
I lovingly pat Lily on the head but don’t answer her directly.
After placing the breakfast, I return to the living room to wait for CaloCat’s return.
Fortunately, CaloCat keeps her promise. Saying it would be a few minutes, she logs back in a few minutes later.
“Welcome back, Lord CaloCat.”
Seeing CaloCat’s amber eyes regain their sparkle, I respectfully welcome her return.
It seems to be the first time I’ve said this phrase as a maid, and even my mood has improved considerably.
However, CaloCat first freezes, then her cheeks flush with an odd blush, and her eyes start to dart away, like a child who has done something wrong, avoiding eye contact with me.
“…Lord CaloCat?”
