Reincarnated Maid is About To Be Captured by All Players

Volume 1 Chapter 28

Young girls might fantasize about such scenarios: dreaming that they are princesses, instantly falling in love with a handsome prince, and having a loyal knight by their side. After twists and turns, they live happily ever after.

At some point, the “handsome prince” concept also required a flowing-maned white horse, earning the moniker “White Horse Prince.” But this sort of character typically only appears in fairy tales. After puberty, girls no longer indulge in such fantasies, knowing they’re fictitious.

So, what’s the deal with the man standing before me?

He seems like a real-life depiction of the White Horse Prince from fairy tales, except he’s wearing noble knight’s armor. Should I call him the White Horse Knight?

I’ve previously experienced the effect of Enric’s [Charisma] attribute, but compared to this knight, Enric’s charm is child’s play.

His handsomeness can only be described as bewitching. Any woman would find it hard to divert her gaze from his striking face. I, too, found myself entranced by his appearance.

I bite my tongue to maintain clarity. Is this real?

I’ve heard that when [Charisma] reaches its peak, it can have a curse-like effect, bewitching across genders and species. I was definitely affected just now.

Even after regaining my composure, I have to admit that this knight is extraordinarily handsome, but not in a way judged solely from a female perspective.

“Noble lady,” the knight dismounts his horse, his voice as magnetic as his looks, “I am Sir Evanhe of Smylie, tasked with protecting such a delicate flower as yourself—an honor beyond measure.”

“Um… Sir Evanhe of Smylie, are you sure you have the right person?”

“There’s no mistake,” proclaims the knight with a hearty laugh.

Smylie’s Count has said, “The most beautiful flower in Rothschild needs a knight to protect it.” Yet, this knight seems to think that I am completely smitten by him.

“……………………”

Not at all.

Sure, you’re handsome, but don’t think that gets you a free pass to spout nonsense.

The knight launches into an eloquent self-excoriation about how his good looks are a curse that entraps too many women, then shifts into an impassioned declaration of his commitment to the teachings of the Church of Abraham.

That’s when it hits me: good-looking people can get away with anything.

Even if Sir Evanhe completely ignores me and talks to himself, that doesn’t make him any less handsome.

Suddenly, a message pops up: [Congratulations, Affection +0].

“What…? Affection?”

Is this man—an adventurer (player)?!

Smylie, as far as I remember, is a Count in the Kingdom of Yazarl, and one of the few players to have earned that title. Did Count Smylie send this mentally unstable guy to raise my affection level? I don’t deny he’s super handsome, but he seems emotionally scarred, perhaps from reading too many knight novels?

“I wish to know where you are headed, my lady. Your loyal knight is prepared to accompany you.”

He actually noticed my attempted escape. Was he genuinely self-absorbed or just pretending?

“Sir Evanhe, your sword and loyalty should be reserved for a princess or a noblewoman. I am merely a maid; you don’t have to draw your sword for me.”

I try to dissuade him, but he stubbornly shakes his head.

“I can’t do that, my lady. The undead have increasingly attacked cities in recent years. Everyone deserving protection should have a knight willing to die for them.”

Before he could start another long-winded speech, players from Rothschild have already rushed out like a tide.

Seeing this, Evanhe heroically laughs, “This is my moment to demonstrate my loyalty!” With that, he gets back on his white horse.

“Watch, my lady! Even if the enemy has an army, your loyal knight fears nothing!”

The knight draws his sword and roars, diving alone into the swarm of adventurers, all under my bewildered gaze.

He’s an odd one in every sense.

Let’s pretend nothing happened.
