Volume 1 Chapter 27
Before leaving, I list out the items I need to buy.
Rothschild is a small village; the traders can only meet the basic needs of the villagers for food, clothing, shelter, and transportation. There’s no doctor or pharmacy. If someone falls ill, they must make a trip to the nearby Baron Hester’s territory. There, they have two choices: buy medicine from a drugstore or seek help from a priest in Baron Hester’s area. The villagers in Rothschild are not wealthy, so they usually choose the latter. Priests are generally willing to make the trip.
Doctors are only available in larger cities governed by a Count or higher. Usually, the role of a doctor is filled by a priest.
I’ve received many gifts from players, mostly items like the decorative yet functional Golden Apple and the special material Gambantein with magic-reducing abilities. Some straightforward players have simply given me money, so I have a decent amount saved up.
The human kingdoms of the world all use the same currency. It was unified to eliminate the issues caused by the different currencies initially used by the three major kingdoms. The unified currency is called Dinarius, but players prefer to call them copper, silver, and gold coins, which correspond to the images of a cross, a statue of a saint, and the Pope, respectively.
These are currencies I’ll have to get used to. I quickly review this knowledge.
Storing space is a convenient feature. I just dump all my savings into it and can easily carry them with me. Skills are useless without materials.
Materials for repairing damaged fences and lawns, food, medical supplies, fabric… there’s a lot to buy.
But now, I’m not the only one at home. With that thought, I leave in an unusually good mood. I’m really not used to living alone.
Alright, mentally prepared…!
I open the front door and, in an instant, adventurers outside erupt into idol-like cheers.
You’re going to scare the child!
But I have no choice. I need to let all the adventurers know that I won’t be in Rothschild today. Otherwise, Lily won’t be able to rest.
I don’t see Uncle François around today. He’s always complaining about wanting to retire and about his increasing back and joint pain, but he never actually skips work.
Using the magic skill [Mana Attachment], I focus the wind element under my feet and propel myself into the air.
I don’t have the ability to fly. Among player-character races on the Lemuria continent, only the Hawk tribe of the Orc race possesses the skill to fly.
Protected by a soft wind element, I don’t crash into the tree trunk. Instead, I cushion my landing as if falling into a soft cotton bed. I even execute an elegant spin in mid-air, landing gently on my toes before settling down on the ground, basking in an updraft that doesn’t lift my skirt.
Perfect! No wonder it’s me; I even feel like I have the potential to be a ballet dancer… Wait, why is my first thought about being a female dancer?
Okay, they’ve seen me leave Rothschild. They won’t linger there anymore. Although I don’t have any emergency syrup, they’re sure to follow me, allowing Lily to rest.
I must hurry to Hester. The direction to Hester is…
“—Ma’am, please wait.”
