Chapter 1033: A Historic day (2)
The day was cloudy, the air crisp and chilly, sending shivers through the people of Bengaluru. Yet despite the weather, tens of thousands entered the parliament grounds, with people from all over the empire coming to witness the mysterious event announced by His Majesty.
The entire area around the parliament was cordoned off with the parade road before the great idol of Lord Ram being packed with people streaming into the grounds, while along the footpaths, hawkers sold fast food, children's toys, and banners bearing slogans in support of the Emperor.
At the back entrance of the parliament grounds, the situation was completely opposite. The road was empty, and no one could be seen. This was to be expected, as the entrance had been blocked off by the military, who allowed no one to pass, except those carrying a personal invite written by His Majesty. These guests stepped down from their carriages and slowly walked the 200-metre road with leisurely steps, following the path that led them to the back of the large stage that had been built.
In the front, a large crowd began to occupy the seats that had been arranged in just a matter of hours. Tens of thousands had already settled, and more continued to pour in. Ganesh, who had naturally organised the entire event, showed no sign of panic. This was not the first time he had hosted such a massive gathering, so without any hurry, he gave his instructions to the interpreters and dispatched them to their places.
The interpreters, the people who would loudly speak what his majesty spoke to the people in the rear who couldn't hear what his majesty was saying, started to explain the safety regulations along with warnings on how to handle hazards, be it fire or anything else, they even read out the Bharatiya Standard Organisation regulations and showed the audience the emergency exits for each of their rows and how they will be exiting with as little chaos as possible in a calm and authoritative voice, and this went on a few times.
Maybe if they were sitting under the sweltering sun, the people would complain, but due to all the people wearing comfortable, warm, woollen clothes, sitting in the chilly weather, they were feeling warm and cosy, and since they had their family members or friends with them, they had the best time of their life, so they sat without any complaints for several hours straight.
Finally, at 11:00 AM, the event started with the local school children singing the Ganapati Stotram, and right after that, a famous event host and the president of the anchors guild, Kadambari Punya Sasti, took to the stage and started recounting the legends of each and every titled King of the empire, along with a vivid depiction of their achievements constantly changing in the background, with the kids quickly running in and out of the stage carrying the banners.
Most people felt this amusing, but they also realised that their thoughts were right, his majesty really did hold a ceremony to give an answer to the empire about the resignation of so many important personnel in the empire's history.
This went on for nearly one and a half hours, and then finally the Emperor of the Bharatiya Empire appeared on the stage.
"Please pay your respects to the Emperor of the Bharatiya Empire, Rajyapathi Vijay Devaraya Maharaj."
The voices of the interpreter trembled with excitement as they clapped their hands with pride. The people jumped up on their feet and roared with excitement. Even for the people who were at the very end of the crowd, the knowledge that they were only a few hundred metres away from His Majesty the Emperor made their blood boil and their faces red, even in the chilly weather.
From above, the sight was like a living tide, people rising to their feet and clapping in unison, a wave rolling from the front to the back of the vast ground. What began as a few scattered exclamations near the stage soon swelled into a thunderous roar, engulfing the entire parliament ground. The sound carried for kilometres, so powerful that even the smallest shopkeepers far away paused, ears pricked, and turned with curiosity toward the parliament.
Vijay wore a purple sherwani embroidered with golden lotus and a swan depiction that went all over the fabric. He stood straight like a spear, and in his hand, he held his shawl with grace. The Rakta Asthram, the sword he had forged, was right by his waist, his eyes contained sharpness that was unusual for his age, and his tilak made his whole look more regal. Standing there at the spot, he looked like the Great Bharatiya Emperor Ashoka reincarnated.
Maybe in the people's eyes, this was what the legendary Emperor Ashoka looked like.
Vijay raised his hand, and the noise starting from the front immediately calmed down.
Apart from a few naughty children, the entire parliament ground was silent for a few moments.
"Good afternoon, my dear people. I am extremely happy that all of you have decided to dedicate some of the time of your life to heed my call."
"I know all of you are wondering why so many important people of the empire suddenly resigned," Vijay asked with a smile as he looked around the crowd with ease. "I can understand your worry, and your worry is indeed true. If I really forced so many people to resign just because the empire has reached a point where it can stand on its own, then maybe a civil war is inevitable."
"But know this, my subjects, Vijay Devaraya has always been a just monarch. He would never take such a short-sighted decision. So here we all are, present not only to witness these great individuals climb onto a higher position, but also to understand what is going to happen to them."
Vijay gave time for everyone to digest his words, and he looked to the side and gestured with his hand for the list to be brought over by the maids.
The words of Vijay immediately caused huge discussions among the crowd. The people talked with each other speculatively; some were curious about what was about to happen, while others were relieved that his majesty seemed to have thought of their worry, and since his majesty seemed to have thought of it, then he had really not lost his mind. While some, especially the Europeans who had their own section, the majority of them had unreadable expressions on their faces, as if they themselves could not decide if they were happy or sad.
Of course, the ones who were most happy were the merchants of the Bharatiya Empire, the top-ranking business dynasties, elites, and dignitaries from the countries dependent on the Bharatiya Empire, especially the Southeast Asian countries and the Middle Eastern countries. Because if anything went wrong with the Bharatiya Empire, they would bear the direct brunt without its protection.
Thanking the maid for the list, Vijay took a quick look and brought it down.
"It is undeniable that the Bharatiya Empire has reached a level where no single country can stand up against our prowess."
"But staying stagnant is not an option. That is not what we Bharatiyas do."
"Keep in mind, my subjects, the Mughal Empire, an empire stretching over 3 million square kilometres and with an army of several million, was at its strongest before its eventual destruction. And it was destroyed due to being complacent."
"I don't want this to be us, and I'll make sure that it is not us."
"European countries may be no match for us individually, but if they all join forces, the result is unpredictable. The Europeans are extremely xenophobic and have a complex that they are the best race in the world. They will not rest until they make that idea of theirs a reality."
"They are improving at a very fast pace, as I have received intelligence that they have already cracked the technology of the Kesari engine that is used in our industries, and have already started the road of the industrial revolution."
"If we continue on our current path, we will surely fall behind. Remember this, my loyal subjects: the Europeans do not grow stronger through innovation, but by perfecting new ways to kill one another. And once they are certain their methods of war are unmatched, they will turn their swords, once pointed inward, toward the rest of the world."
"Therefore, we can no longer stand alone in our resistance against the West."
"This is where the title of 'King' regains its true meaning. Today, four legendary commanders have set aside their positions within the Bharatiya Empire, not as an end to their legacy, but as a beginning to a new legacy, as they will once again take up the mantle of Kings, but this time with real power and real responsibility."
"So, ladies and gentlemen, I once again welcome you all to the coronation of the new Kings of the Sanatana Alliance."
