Reborn as the Villain in a Romance Fantasy

Chapter 200: Ch 200: Can you believe it? - Part 1

"What the hell! Aren't you an inn? Don't you want our business? Why are you turning us away like this?"

Adam asked in an annoyed voice as he pressured the innkeeper. The more he leaned over and showed unhappiness, the more the innkeeper felt guilty and wanted to run away.

But ultimately, the innkeeper managed to keep it professional. She coughed into her hand to hide her nervousness before turning her neutral face toward the man before her.

"Once again, I fear this is not in my hand. I will have to ask my lady if I can allow you people in here or not. The one who booked our inn in advance is a magician; her magic may be dangerous for other customers.

Some already died due to meddling where they should not have."

The innkeeper warned more clearly.

Her desire to have this business was clear, but her fear and annoyance hindered her from making the decision she wanted.

Adam almost reached out to thrash the innkeeper by grabbing her shoulder and pushing her around. But luckily for the innkeeper, Adam had Rosette with her.

The female showed some semblance of patience she usually did not have as she placed a hand on the male's shoulder and gave him a dark smile.

"Adam, it is fine. Don't cause more trouble for the innkeeper than you need to. We are here on a mission, remember? Miss Innkeeper, it would be an honor for us if you were to head out and ask your mistress if we can stay here for some time.

We are here to find someone and will be out of your hair as soon as our mission is done. You won't even see us most of the time."

Rosette looked like a sensible noble lady in the eyes of the innkeeper, and her heart melted at the warm way she was being treated. But this illusion was only in the innkeeper's mind.

While the innkeeper felt warm and fuzzy inside, Adam reacted differently. He felt his insides chill at Rosette's voice.

She was speaking overly politely, which likely meant that she would take drastic action if her demands were not met.

"I will go and ask my miss right away. I am sure my miss won't have an issue lending you a room or two for some time."

The innkeeper looked ready to beg someone to let Rosette stay in her inn.

She looked enamored and charmed by Rosette's company, but nothing different. The female had beautiful looks and a nice voice and had also learned how to harness these things to her advantage.

There was no stopping Rosette if she set her eyes on something. All Adam could do was sigh and pray that the innkeeper survived Rosette's worth once it inevitably arrived.

He watched the innkeeper make a hasty retreat before he turned to Rosette and sighed.

"You should not be speaking to others in your charming voice. You often give them a false sense of security. Also, what is with you being your lovely self today? Weren't you so angry in the morning that you destroyed many trees on your way here?

Did your anger get snubbed or something?"

Adam asked in a distracted voice as he looked around the place.

Now that he did not have the innkeeper to focus on, he also felt like there was something familiar and nostalgic about this place. It had a familiar feeling here, and Adam's instincts did not know whether to relax or feel annoyed.

Only one person had ever made him feel this way, and just thinking about her made Adam irritated and want to run away.

"Huh? Am I more patient than usual? Maybe you are right. But for some reason, I don't want to destroy this place. There is something familiar about it, and it makes me feel at ease.

I don't have solid evidence as to what it is, but I have a feeling I will know soon enough. Doesn't the excitement make your heart race a little as well?"

Rosette asked with a smile, and for the first time, it looked like a genuine smile rather than her usual manufactured one.

And somehow, it looked even more terrifying than usual.

Adam shuddered as he looked at his companion with side eyes. He decided not to question Rosette and just looked forward.

In love or not, leaving Rosette alone when she was in her crazy mode was the best choice for Adam's survival.

...

Layla noticed the innkeeper approaching her room before the female knocked. So, she made the door swing open as soon as the innkeeper tried to knock on it.

The innkeeper looked startled when the door opened, but she decided not to pay attention and walked inside confidently.

"What do you want from me?"

Layla asked, even though she could guess what the innkeeper wanted from her.

She had felt the three powerful presences down in the lobby, and the innkeeper likely wanted to negotiate to let them stay in this inn.

"Miss, I have a favor to ask you. I know you reserved the whole inn and do not want anyone else staying here, but can I ask you to allow one room to be rented out to others?

The customers in the lobby are V.I.P. of this place, and I cannot turn them down. Please, allow me this small favor and keep those two here."

The innkeeper bowed in front of Layla with her whole body.

If Layla had not known better, she would have assumed this was the case. But she knew the innkeeper by now.

She could see the greed and want in the innkeeper's eyes that came with wanting to make a profit, and for her purpose, she was even willing to lie under the magic oath and risk her life.

It was amusing enough for Layla not to call the innkeeper out and even consider thinking about this for a moment.

'Hmm., it is not a bad deal. I guess I can consider it this time.'
