Chapter 50: It Is Just A Game
It is just a game; even though they can feel pain as their avatar gets hurt and injured, it's not like they are going to suffer in real life. The worst they could experience is having trauma from feeling a sensation similar to death.
It is just a game, and they have nothing to risk and nothing to lose. Surely not their lives, money, popularity, and even all the time they spend playing RAIDS ONLINE.
It is just a game; they can lose as many times as they need, and they can try as many times as they want until they become strong enough to win against their opponent.
It is just a game; no matter how real the emotions they feel, the images they see, the sounds they hear, everything will remain as an illusion, a lie, an imaginary world created by programs run based on 1 and 0.
It is just a game...
But SilverPup's efforts in gathering information about the Ragnarok Beasts will never be an illusion.
BlueHeroine's determination to defeat and devour all the high-ranking Ragnarok will never be a lie.
Luel would never dare to call their efforts as just a game. He wouldn't never insult SilverPup and BlueHeroine like that. He wouldn't let anyone mock them, not anyone in real life and even in RAIDS ONLINE.
That's why he won't give up, thinking that they could just fight Garmr again because it is just a game.
And if the Ragnarok Beast standing in front of him is nothing but an imaginary monster created by a series of programs of 1 and 0, Luel wouldn't care less.
Garmr hurts his friends, and he's going to make it would suffer for it. Even if he has to crawl into the ground doing it.
.
.
.
BlueHeroine falls from the night sky.
SilverPup crushed into a hill of rock.
Those kinds of accidents are enough to kill someone in real life, but since they're inside of RAIDS ONLINE and their avatars are Half-Beast, there is a chance that BlueHeroine and SilverPup survive.
With those thoughts, Luel decided to fight on his own until his friends could get back on their feet.
...Charge x Orion's Fangs - Full Moon!...
Luel shift from his New Moon phase to his Full Moon phase, changing the silver shadow aura engulfing his body into a silver light aura. At the same time, he changes his highly increased speed to highly increased strength, not to try and defeat the Unique Rank C Ragnarok Beast Garmr on his own but to be able to endure its attack.
...ROOAAARRRRR!!!...
Garmr attacked Luel with its right claw, striking him in a single swing that sent Luel stumbling on the ground a hundred meters away from Garmr.
...BOOMMM!...
Luel wasn't able to dodge Garmr's attack as he was still unable to move from where he stood. He got slammed and crushed into a hill of rock just like SilverPup, but the effect of his Full Moon Skill allows him to endure the pain of his injuries and remain conscious.
...ARGHHH!...
Luel screams in pain as he tries to get back on his feet.
It hurts like it was real, like he's about to die, like how he felt when Cerberus had killed him before repeatedly.
But he's not having any anxiety and panic attacks right now. After all, there's something more important than the horrifying feeling that keeps on hunting him in his nightmares.
He needs to survive until BlueHeroine and SilverPup can get back on their feet. Until they can fight again. Until they can defeat and devour Garmr.
"Howl!"
The howling sound that echoes with Luel at its center heals his injuries to a certain degree and gives him some vitality to continue to fight. But that's not what Luel's Howl Skill only did. It is more than just a support skill that heals his injuries and gives him vitality.
That howl coming from a Devour Beast means that he wasn't defeated and killed yet, that he's still alive and fighting with everything he has, and that he's still waiting, believing in his friends.
...ROOAAARRRRR!!!...
Garmr responded to Luel's howl with a loud roar as if asking Luel what he could still do against its strength.
"Come at me, YOU DUMB DOG!"
Garmr charged toward Luel at his challenge.
The effect of Garmr's restraining skill has already been lost, and Luel can now move as much as the body of his avatar allows him. Yet it wouldn't change the fact that he won't be able to stop the charge of the incoming 30-meter class Ragnarok Beast.
But so what if he can't?
Running away or charging towards Garmr would still result in the same outcome. He is about to get pierced by Garmr's fangs.
Maybe he can't stop Garmr's charge but it doesn't mean Luel won't be able to stop its fangs from tearing him apart.
...ROOAAARRRRR!!!...
Garmr dives into the ground, aiming to swallow Luel in a single bite.
Luel, on the other hand, timed his move and jumped toward Garmr's fangs. He stopped Garmr's lower jaw with his feet and its upper jaw with both of his hands, preventing the Garmr from closing its mouth.
Luel was able to withstand the sheer force of Garmr's jaws with his highly increased strength. But at the moment Garmr felt its prey stuck in its mouth, it began to move erratically and make a rampage.
Garmr slammed its mouth into the ground, trying to make Luel lose his grip. It open its jaws even wider and would try to crush Luel. But no matter how many times it slammed Luel into the ground, no matter how much it tried to crush Luel again and again, Luel endured it all and remained clinging to Garmr's fangs.
It is all that Luel can do, and he might look pathetic as he tries to desperately extend a losing fight.
It is even funnier that Luel thought that he could make Garmr suffer for hurting BlueHeroine and SilverPup.
He can't win on his own, and Luel has already accepted that.
But he was never alone from the start.
He might have already given up on getting back on Garmr, but he never stopped believing that BlueHeroine and SilverPup would stand up and fight again.
"Radiance x Aurora's Wings - Red Sprite!"
...BOOMMM!...
...ROOAAARRRRR!...
"You're gonna pay for throwing rocks at me, YOU FAQING DOG!"
