537  The price: Glory or disgrace

"Hahaha, don't worry, I know my limits very well. Did you come to see me? It seems your power has grown lately since none of the people there can sense you." Matthew smiled, and she nodded at him.

"Gray Allen I think he knows I'm around, but he's not worried about it. I heard he has an ability in his eyes. Is it the ability to 'dating'?"

"Yes, he has that ability."

"I see. I guess he already knows I'm special then. That's why he doesn't move. He doesn't think I'm coming to cause you trouble. He's a smart man."

Matthew smiled. "He's a man who understands things quickly. He's talented for his skills, so he's worthy to carry them."

At his response, Charlotte stared at him, as if to ask: "When will you take them away from him?" Matthew could see her question, so he shook his head.

Although they didn't speak, both could understand what they wanted to say to each other, so Charlotte simply deflected the conversation, although she made Matthew believe that she knew why his abilities had split from his body; even so, he didn't ask her, as she pulled out some documents at that moment.

"Here, it's what you asked me for last time." She spoke.

Matthew's eyes sparkled, and he grabbed it immediately. "Thank you. It will help me."

"It surely will. It's good what I was able to get, though if you dress that woman, you can surely get more. The problem is that gaining her trust is hard, so it'll be up to you."

"Okay, I think I'll be able to do it. Anyway, it looks like I need to go to the dragon territory, as I need to deepen my understanding of the Path of Destruction at some point, and I think there are the best on the path there."

The two of them talked about a few more things, but Charlotte didn't want to tell him too much at this point, so they were soon done with everything.

Matthew stood up and looked at Mia for a moment. "How are you coming with the development of that object?" he asked.

"We're producing it in a good way, but it's still a little slow. Still, since I've got control of the Spirit Academy, things are moving much better."

"I see; keep it up, then. Surely, you can create a force to be feared. I hope to see you again shortly, but I must go now."

Immediately after that, he said goodbye to Charlotte, who was talking with Isla, and then disappeared from the place together with Isla.

"Didn't they leave too quickly? I thought they would talk more..." Mia said, finding that strange.

Charlotte smiled. "Some powerful people are coming. I wanted to see when he was rammed, but because of them, it looks like we have to go, " she said as she stood up.

"Is anyone coming? Another Vampire Clan? The Murphys and the Allens are there..." As Mia said, her perception also caught the attention of powerful people approaching.

"They are Murphy's and Allen's, accompanied by another Vampire Clan. There even seems to be an Independent Clan among them. We can't stay here for long," Charlotte replied, and Mia nodded.

Matthew returned to his designated spot shortly after that, and about 15 minutes later, the ceremony began.

It was boring, like all ceremonies.

Still, this time, there was an abnormally large number of powerful people.

When the ceremony began, the Allen and Murphy Clans were the ones to start it off, with Frederick Murphy being the host, as the awardee was the Young Leader of the Allen Clan.

Matthew was led to where he would be honored, and the ceremony went smoothly. Although many had questions, and there were possibly people against this among those who came to watch, none dared to say anything.

This was not like the ceremony in which he was awarded the title of Bloody Vampire General. Here, the one who wants to oppose must have his pants on well enough to withstand the gaze of Gray, Frederick, and other very powerful people so no one says anything.

Before, Matthew esteemed him, and he looked up to him. He wanted to extol him for being a good teacher and also because he had helped him so much in the past, but now he was simply someone to whom he owed a debt of gratitude and would eventually repay, but about whom he no longer cared from there.

Perhaps if Reagan Cooper had not hesitated at the right time, he would now be among the top positions in this place because, after all, Matthew was his most beloved student; in part, you would think that he had something to do with his student's great success, but things had changed.

He had made a mistake, and it was difficult to fix. All that was left for him to do was keep quiet and stay in his place, with his father scolding him repeatedly for being so stupid.

On the other hand, Emma Lewis, a decisive woman full of determination and grandiose vision, had been chosen today to lead Matthew to receive his investiture.

She was in the front row, right behind Matthew, and everyone could only admire her from afar.

She made a good decision: She understood what she had to do and did it at the right time. She deserves all the honors she has and will receive in the future.

On the one hand, there was the price of a bad decision, and on the other hand, there was the price of a good decision.

Both extremes, in every way.

Yet, in a way, they both belonged to the same family.
