Chapter 538 The Birth of a Lord of the Kingdom (1)

538  The Birth of a Lord of the Kingdom (1)

All was silent as Frederick began the part of the ceremony where Matthew was to be honored. That was the main part of today and the one that made many people's hearts clench.

People wondered many things, such as whether Edevane and Relish would allow such a politically powerful guy to be born within their direct rivals. Will they act? What will they do?

While unanswered questions swirled around in the heads of many present, there was the issue that there couldn't be a second Lord of the Kingdom simultaneously. If Allen and Murphy clinched the consecration, this would be a clear advantage, which is why the questions increased with each passing second.

Even so, everyone remained silent.

"It is time to finish with all the formalities carried out today." Frederick's voice reached every corner of this place, which was in the open air.

"For the past few years, we have had a young man among us who has excelled far above his peers. At under 25 years of age, he has already become an eminence capable of threatening the most powerful of this world, a true hero born among us who has reached his present level of power through important missions to weaken the other races. Simply for the vampire race to become more and more prosperous."

"His contributions to the race should even shame all the leaders of the Vampire Clans, for we are not up to the task. From killing powerful Devourers, destroying their plans, finding the traitors, and overthrowing them at the root. Because of him, his strategies, and good leadership, we have been able to eradicate from our kingdom a large portion of the traitors, allies of Devourers, and humans who sought to eradicate our race."

"He went so far as to infiltrate the human grounds and accomplish great feats, killing Leaders of that race and destroying important organizations, which were based both there, and here. Organizations of traitors who sought our eradication."

"For all this and for his great talent, today he will be awarded a Lord of the Kingdom, a status unmatched in the political area. All his exploits are worthy of respect, his power is as well, so he deserves that and more."

After finishing speaking, Frederick pointed behind him. There was a red curtain there, with nice simple decorations.

The design of the cane was simple, but its weight is to be feared.

It is known as the Staff of the Lord of the Kingdom or, much better known: The Frozen Staff.

Its second name comes from the fact that every time a Lord of the Kingdom dies, the cane is frozen for a long time unless another one is decided.

There is not only one, there is one for each kingdom, but when one is thawed and accepts a new owner, the other four cannot be. And this one has already been thawed. It only needs to reach the hands of its new bearer for the other four to be blocked, and another Lord of the Kingdom cannot be chosen until its bearer dies.

She soon reached her father's side, right in front of Matthew; they both greeted each other with a glance.

"The Frozen Staff today will have a new owner. Please carefully look at a clutching that might not be seen for hundreds of thousands of years. It is time for the Vampire World to have a new Pillar to hold it." Frederick smiled softly and beckoned to Matthew.

"Please, Young Master, take what belongs to you." He spoke.

Matthew nodded and, without hesitation, stepped forward to grab it.

The rest of the people present were in shock.

'Will no one really do anything? Will a Lord of the Kingdom be born just like that? I'm not against it; he really seems to deserve it, but...'

'Edevane and Relish won't move? I think it would be for the best. If a Kingdom Lord is born in our kingdom, we'll have higher status than the rest.'

'Shit, you bastards, move! What the hell are you waiting for? A Kingdom Lord can't be born nowadays!'

People's thoughts were diverse. Some were doubtful, some in agreement, and some totally against.

There were many expectant people, but no one present dared to move. Or so many thought.

Yet, just then, a hooded man in black robes shouted and flew overhead.

"Stop. I will not allow an onslaught of a Kingdom Lord without verifiable proof that at least 3 Clans agree." He said forcefully.

Frederick and Gray looked at him, frowning, but that guy had exerted some force on where Matthew was standing, so he stopped.

The man simply removed the black hood, revealing his glamorous robes and a king's crown on his head.

"I think I have enough status to fly in this place, Lord Murphy." He replied firmly.

"It's King Richter!" Some curious voices began to speak and reveal his information while Frederick nodded.

"You have the right to fly over the capital in normal situations. But right now, our Vampire Clans are here. You don't have the right to fly over our skies, so get back to the ground if you don't want to be shot down, I'm telling you for the second and last time."

King Richter frowned. 'A made-up rule.' He thought.

But he couldn't refute it. Gray Allen was right below him.

Ultimately, he had to swallow his pride and return to earth.

"Out of respect for your Clans, I will honor the request." He said, but Frederick scoffed.

"No requests are coming out of my mouth, only orders. Don't forget that." After saying that, he allowed the ceremony to stop.

"Now, speak. Why dare you stop a sacred ceremony like this? I hope your reasons are important enough; if not, I will visit your kingdom."

'This bastard will make me talk again...' Richter clenched his fists, but he couldn't be impolite right now. He needed to do things the right way.

'I must unveil which other Clan has allied with these bastards first.' He thought, so he spoke again.

"I think, out of respect for the 5 Reigns of our Vampire World, we have the right to be shown all the signatories who made this ceremony possible." As he said so, he pulled out his own King's staff and stuck it into the ground, erecting a barrier over himself to enhance his monarch aura.

Frederick smiled. "Honestly, our Clans have never needed to pay respect to you reigns." He said, almost mocking Richter, causing Richter to become furious.

Although he knew better than to get too upset by this guy's words, for some reason, they bothered him.

Still, before he could speak, Frederick did.

"But, we are in a good mood today. With such an important new pillar, our race will be more prosperous. So, I will fulfill your request before proceeding." He said, pulling out a huge scroll from his storage ring.
