Pokemon: The Master Of Monsters

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Assisting Sabrina’s Father

Sabrina's Psychic abilities were incredibly strong, even surpassing those of her father, Najun. Not even Najun, a seasoned Psychic master, could get close to Sabrina, let alone destroy the dolls that she kept by her side. The telekinetic shield Sabrina created was so powerful it could resist Pokémon at a Gym Leader's level.

Najun was no ordinary man. As the former Gym Leader of Saffron City, he had commanded powerful Pokémon, including those that could stand up to Sabrina's powers. Yet, despite all of this, he had never been able to overcome her strength. That alone spoke volumes about how formidable Sabrina had become.

Gary, taking all of this into account, quickly realized that only someone like Cattleya from the Unova region could even be compared to Sabrina's level of psychic prowess. Sabrina was often referred to as a "Psychic genius," while Cattleya was known as a "Psychic runaway," someone whose abilities had spiraled out of control. Together, they seemed to form a powerful pair—one of order and one of chaos.

Najun's voice broke through Gary's thoughts. "You need to go to Lavender Town to capture a Ghost-type Pokémon and then challenge Sabrina," he instructed.

Gary looked puzzled. "What kind of solution is that? I know Ghost-types can be effective against Psychic Pokémon, but they themselves are vulnerable to Psychic attacks. Sabrina would have no trouble dealing with them."

"Although Ghost-types have an advantage over Psychic-types, it won't be that simple with Sabrina," Gary replied, feeling doubtful. He was not as naive as Ash; he knew that if Haunter hadn't accidentally destroyed Sabrina's doll, Ash would have never made it past her in the first place.

Najun gave a slight nod. "I understand. The real strength of Ghost Pokémon lies in their invisibility. You can use that to your advantage. When you face Sabrina, secretly order your Ghost Pokémon to attack the doll she keeps with her. That's the key."

Gary was starting to understand but was also growing frustrated. He had come here with the intention of giving advice, yet now he was being roped into this dangerous task. "Mr. Najun, can't you just destroy the doll yourself?" he asked.

Najun sighed, looking helpless. "I can't get close to Sabrina. She's far too alert. As soon as I enter the gym, she'll sense me. Only Ghost-type Pokémon, with their ability to become invisible, can approach her unnoticed."

Since being kicked out of the gym by Sabrina, Najun had nowhere else to go. He had been wandering around Saffron City like a lost soul, unable to reclaim his former life as the Gym Leader. If it weren't for his identity as a Psychic, he might as well have been homeless.

Gary took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay, I'll go to Lavender Town. It seems like the only option."

Najun seemed relieved. "Thank you. As long as Sabrina can return to normal, I will make sure to repay you."

Gary raised an eyebrow. "Any Ghost Pokémon will do? There are no strength requirements?"

"Yes, as long as the Ghost Pokémon can turn invisible, that's all that matters," Najun confirmed.

"Do you know where I can find them in Lavender Town?" Gary asked, preparing for the next step.

Najun shook his head. "Ghost Pokémon are elusive and only come out at night. Your best bet is the Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town. That's where they tend to congregate."

"I know of it," Gary replied, already planning his next move. "The Pokémon Tower is famous for being a resting place for Pokémon that have passed on. But in the games, it's also the home of Ghost Pokémon like Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar. Hopefully, I can find one of them to help me."

"Time is of the essence," Najun urged. "It's already night, so you should leave now."

Without waiting for any further words, Najun placed his hand on Gary's shoulder and, using his Psychic powers, teleported them to the west exit of Saffron City.

Gary glanced around, still taking in the sudden change of scenery. He understood now that Najun's powers allowed him to teleport with ease, and while the experience was disorienting, it wasn't unpleasant.

"I can only take you here," Najun explained. "I need to go back and keep an eye on things to make sure no Trainers challenge Sabrina while you're gone."

"Understood. I'll be back as soon as I can," Gary said, giving Najun a quick nod.

As Gary made his way to Lavender Town, he felt the weight of the task ahead. The quiet town had a reputation for being a place where Ghost Pokémon could be found, but Gary wasn't sure what he would encounter in the eerie silence of the night.

When he finally arrived, the town was peaceful, almost unnervingly so. Lavender Town was known for its association with Ghost-type Pokémon, and as expected, it was deserted by the townspeople at night. The air was thick with the sense that something was lurking just beyond sight.

Gary quickly fed his Pokémon some energy cubes to keep them in good condition, then made his way toward the Pokémon Tower. The Tower was a place of rest for many, and its towering structure loomed over the town. Surrounded by graves, it gave off a gloomy, unsettling vibe, even in the daytime. At night, it was even more haunting.

Arriving at the door of the Pokémon Tower, Gary couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding. The entrance itself looked like the mouth of a Gigantamax Gengar, further adding to the eerie atmosphere.

"Growlithe, come out," Gary said, releasing his loyal Fire-type Pokémon.

"Woof!" Growlithe barked energetically, glad to be out of the Poké Ball. Gary could tell that Growlithe was in top condition for the night's task.

"Growlithe, we're looking for Ghost-type Pokémon. If you detect anything strange, use Odor Sleuth to find them," Gary instructed.

"Woof!" Growlithe responded enthusiastically.

Growlithe's Odor Sleuth skill allowed it to track Ghost Pokémon, which were usually invisible to the naked eye. By using this skill, Growlithe could ensure that no Ghost-type would go unnoticed, even if it tried to hide.

With his flashlight in hand, Gary led Growlithe toward the entrance of the Tower. The door creaked as they pushed it open, and they were greeted by a strangely homely interior. It looked as though someone had once lived there, but now it was abandoned, eerily silent. The townspeople avoided this place, and it was easy to see why.

Gary kept his senses alert, using his Eye of Insight to scan the area. He was ready for anything, knowing that the Ghost Pokémon in this Tower loved to play tricks on intruders.

Growlithe, ever curious, trotted around the area, sniffing everything in sight. Despite being surrounded by what would normally frighten most people, Growlithe showed no fear.

Gary raised his voice, hoping to draw out the Ghost Pokémon. "Hello? Is anyone here?" he called.

For several minutes, nothing happened. There was no response.

"Growlithe, let's go deeper inside and see if we can find something," Gary said, as he led the way up the stairs to the next level.

The corridor was dark, and the flickering light from his flashlight illuminated two doors on opposite sides of the hallway. From under one door, he could see a faint light shining through the cracks, but Gary knew better than to trust it completely. This was likely a trick from the Ghosts.

With a wary glance, Gary pushed open the door and entered. Inside, he found a long dining table set with neatly arranged tableware, as if it were ready for someone to dine at any moment. The unsettling stillness of the room made it clear that no one had used the room for a long time, and yet, it felt oddly familiar, as if the Ghost Pokémon were waiting for someone to enter.

"Alright, Ghost Pokémon," Gary said under his breath. "Let's see what you've got."
