With Golbat defeated, Sato now stood in the same position as Meiko—down to his final Pokémon.
However, his opponent was a Gyarados that not only had a tactical mind but also the support of an experienced Trainer, making the battle situation extremely dire.
"I'm counting on you, Bellossom. The final fight of this match is in your hands."
Despite Gyarados's intimidating roar and oppressive presence, Sato remained composed.
His expression briefly hardened as he retrieved a PokéBall from his belt, pressing the button to release Bellossom.
In the next instant, Bellossom appeared gracefully on a floating platform within the water arena.
True to her nature, she began to dance as soon as she appeared, entirely unperturbed by the overwhelming intimidation radiating from Gyarados.
Gyarados's Intimidate ability was so overwhelming that, aside from a few spectators, most of the audience had retreated to watch from a distance, unable to bear the suffocating pressure that seemed to weigh on their hearts.
With the referee's signal, the final battle began.
"Gyarados, use Flamethrower!"
Meiko chose to seize the offensive, wasting no time in ordering a powerful attack as soon as the referee spoke.
From the earlier clash with Golbat, it was evident that Gyarados excelled at executing moves like Thunderbolt and Ice Beam, showcasing extensive and rigorous training.
Now, its execution of Flamethrower was no different.
A massive flame burst forth from Gyarados's jaws. Though a Water-type Pokémon, Gyarados unleashed the Fire-type move with seamless precision and no apparent awkwardness.
The roaring flames surged forward, instantly raising the temperature of the battlefield. Bellossom, now the target of the attack, wasted no time.
Without waiting for Sato's command, she gracefully dove into the water, avoiding the flames entirely.
Meanwhile, a vibrant green energy orb began forming rapidly between her hands beneath the water's surface.
As the flames died out, a hissing sound filled the arena as white steam billowed up in large clouds.
Though Gyarados's Flamethrower was powerful, it wasn't enough to significantly impact the water-dominated battlefield.
Aside from evaporating a small portion of the water, the move achieved little.
Bellossom, safely submerged, emerged unharmed after the attack ended. With the energy orb fully charged in her hands, she leapt gracefully from the water, hurling the glowing green Energy Ball toward Gyarados.
The Energy Ball, about the size of a soccer ball, appeared small compared to Gyarados's massive frame.
However, its concentrated Grass-type energy radiated powerful waves that neither Meiko nor Gyarados dared underestimate.
Bellossom's aim was precise, and with its speed combined with Gyarados's enormous size, the attack left little room for evasion.
"Counter it with Ice Beam!"
Meiko refused to sit idly by. Unable to dodge, she commanded Gyarados to meet the incoming attack head-on with a powerful Ice-type move.
At her command, Gyarados unleashed a massive icy blue beam, which collided directly with Bellossom's Energy Ball in midair.
What happened next stunned the majority of the audience.
The Energy Ball, packed with overwhelming Grass-type energy, effortlessly broke through Gyarados's Ice Beam and struck the Pokémon squarely.
A loud explosion resounded through the battlefield.
The moment the Energy Ball struck Gyarados, it detonated into a powerful burst of energy.
The sheer force of the explosion pushed Gyarados's massive body back several meters.
The part of Gyarados's body that came into contact with the explosion showed severe damage, with its blue scales cracked and some even falling off.
"Impressive... This Bellossom can compress Grass-type energy to the level of creating energy waves. While Gyarados's Ice Beam may look powerful, it's mostly about energy output."
"In terms of density and quality, Gyarados's Ice Beam can't hold a candle to Bellossom's Energy Ball," Hector remarked, visibly surprised as he watched the broadcast showing Gyarados being pushed back by the Energy Ball in Mary's room.
Mary, standing nearby, remained silent, but the lighthearted expression on her face darkened considerably.
A sense of unease began spreading through her heart.
"I must have underestimated Bellossom's strength. Ever since she obtained the Miracle Seed, her growth has been remarkable. Her mastery over Grass-type energy has undoubtedly taken another leap forward," Sato thought, his earlier gloom vanishing as he watched Bellossom land a decisive blow.
"Let's keep up the pressure, Bellossom! Use Energy Ball again!" Sato commanded without hesitation, determined to capitalize on the opportunity.
Upon hearing the command, Bellossom's graceful dancing stopped abruptly. A vibrant green energy ball began forming rapidly in front of her, growing to the size of two basketballs in less than a second.
However, in the following instant, the ball compressed to the size of a soccer ball, its energy becoming more concentrated.
For the first time, everyone could clearly observe the formation process of Bellossom's Energy Ball, their expressions growing increasingly serious.
Meiko, in particular, was visibly alarmed.
With a sharp "whoosh," Bellossom unleashed the Energy Ball, accompanied by a piercing sound as it tore through the air.
"Dive underwater and wait for an opportunity to use Ice Fang on Bellossom!"
Meiko, unwilling to take any chances, ordered Gyarados to dive into the water to avoid the attack and utilize the water arena's terrain to its advantage.
This time, Gyarados didn't need Meiko's urging. Having already suffered once, it had developed a cautious respect for Bellossom.
Fully focused, it dove underwater even before the Energy Ball reached its vicinity, successfully avoiding the attack.
"Boom!"
Another explosion resounded as the Energy Ball struck the water, sending a massive wave surging into the air.
"Bellossom, scatter Poison Powder into the water. Force it to surface!"
Sato's eyes gleamed with insight, recalling a match where a Lileep and Tentacruel had used a similar tactic. He quickly issued the command to Bellossom.
"Gyarados, get out of the water now! Don't absorb any of it!"
Meiko's face turned pale the moment she heard Sato's instruction.
She frantically yelled at Gyarados, who was rapidly closing in on Bellossom's position underwater.
But it was already too late.
As soon as Sato's command was given, Bellossom released a large cloud of purple powder from the vibrant flowers on her head.
The powder dispersed into the water, creating a ripple of contamination that spread rapidly, much like ink diffusing in water.
The surrounding water surface turned a deep purple.
Before Gyarados could surface, small purple specks began to appear all over its body, the telltale sign of poisoning.
