-A Little Gift From Me to You-
...
A few days later, Ethan submitted an application for review to the New Century Genomics Evaluation Agency. This time, he opted not to expedite the process, deciding to let it proceed at its own pace.
However, just hours after submitting the application, Ethan received an unexpected call from the agency. A review team was being dispatched to Pokémon Biotech's new laboratory, it was far faster than usual.
Ethan frowned as he hung up the phone. Sloan's earlier threats lingered in his mind. Was this expedited review another scheme by the Panex Group? Or was it simply a reflection of his company's rising reputation? Either way, he braced himself for whatever challenges lay ahead.

The Next Day
At the Tarvok City Evaluation Agency, Auditor Megan Dowe and her colleagues sifted through a growing stack of review forms. The workload had been overwhelming recently, and even expedited requests often faced delays.
"An application from Yesterday? Already assigned to us?" a colleague remarked, scanning the paperwork. "We've been so backed up, how did this one jump to the front of the line?"
"Look at the company name," another replied with a knowing smile. "Pokémon Biotechnology inc. Upper management flagged it as high priority."
Megan's interest was piqued. She skimmed the application and noted the company's reputation.
"Another biological evaluation?" a colleague mused. "Didn't we review this company just last month?"
Megan nodded, her thoughts drifting to her first encounter with Ethan Grave. Back then, she had been skeptical of his ambitions and even clashed with him during a review. But Ethan had since proven his brilliance, and the Pokémon Biotech had become an international sensation. She couldn't help but feel a mix of admiration and regret, knowing how wrong she had been about him.
"I wonder what new species they're working on," one auditor said excitedly. "If it's as adorable as Pichu, I'm sold."
Another added wistfully, "If only they were more affordable. I'd love a Pichu, but they're way out of my budget."
Megan smiled. "Maybe we could suggest a simplified version, no advanced abilities or evolutionary traits. That would make them more accessible."
The team agreed, their curiosity growing as they reviewed the address on the form. It pointed to Pokémon Biotech's newly acquired laboratory. Megan couldn't help but feel intrigued as they prepared to visit.
---
The new laboratory was an impressive sight. The facility's modern architecture gleamed under the sun, its vast expanse dwarfing the original lab. Above the entrance, a polished sign read: Pokémon Biotechnology Laboratory 2.
Security had also been upgraded. Uniformed guards stood at attention, their professionalism evident in their demeanor. The team was greeted warmly by a staff member who led them inside.
"Where is Mr. Grave?" Megan asked, surprising herself with the eagerness in her tone.
The staff member chuckled. "He's in the Breeder Room, teaching the first batch of Pichus."
"Teaching?" Megan echoed, exchanging puzzled looks with her colleagues.
"You'll see," the staff member replied with a knowing smile.
---
The Breeder Room was a large, brightly lit space, bustling with activity. The auditors stopped in their tracks, stunned by the sight before them.
Dozens of Pichus sat in neat rows, their tiny bodies upright and alert, their wide eyes fixed on a single Pikachu standing at the front.
Timmy stood like a seasoned instructor, gesturing animatedly with its short arms. Sparks flickered from its cheeks as it demonstrated a move, sending precise ripples of electricity outward.
"Thunder Wave!" Megan recognized the move instantly.
The Pichus watched intently, then attempted to mimic their instructor. Sparks flew in chaotic bursts, and several failed hilariously. One Pichu accidentally zapped its neighbor, who squeaked in surprise but remained unharmed.
"Don't worry," the staff member reassured the auditors. "Pichus have the Lightning Rod ability, they're immune to electric shocks."
Timmy, meanwhile, turned to Ethan with an exasperated expression, as if to say, What am I supposed to do with these clumsy students?
Ethan chuckled, patting Timmy on the head. "Be patient. You were just as clumsy when you started."
The auditors laughed, charmed by the interaction. Timmy, however, crossed its tiny arms, clearly unimpressed.
Suddenly, one Pichu stood out from the group. It focused intently, its cheeks sparking as it concentrated. A ripple of electricity formed around its small body, spreading outward in a near-perfect imitation of Timmy's Thunder Wave.
The room erupted in cheers. "It did it!" Megan exclaimed, her delight evident.
Ethan smiled, nodding in approval. "They'll pick it up faster now. Once one succeeds, the others will follow suit."
The standout Pichu, nicknamed "Colt," had always been the most diligent during training. Ethan decided then and there: Colt would become the next Pichu coach, responsible for guiding future batches.
