Only I Walk Alone

Wu Ge raised the powerful Golden Essence Sword high and then swung it downwards. The sword emitted a glow as bright as the sun, and its sword energy extended indefinitely, the red light of the blade slicing through space.

Then, the sky and the ground were split in two.

The split sky opened up, and after it did, Wu Ge saw the huge black and white eye, and behind that eye, an even larger hexagonal crystal.

At the same time, Wu Ge felt an indescribable sensation of suffocation. The eye, larger than the entire sky, kept moving closer to him.

Wu Ge raised the Golden Essence Sword and input more mental energy and the power of the True Dragon Qi. The sword’s blade glowed golden, while its edge emitted a dazzling red light.

Wu Ge held the Golden Essence Sword high, and beams of red sword light shot out, striking the black and white eye and leaving numerous scars on it. Wu Ge could even see the hexagonal crystal behind the eye twitch in pain.

But the black and white eye continued to approach Wu Ge until it made contact with the tip of the Golden Essence Sword in his hand.

And at that moment, Wu Ge suddenly found that everything around him changed—the entire solar system suddenly appeared before his “eyes.” It wasn’t that he saw the entire solar system, but rather, the scenes inside and out of the entire solar system were instantly imprinted in his mind.

This feeling was very strange, and it was not the first time Wu Ge had experienced this sensation. When Wu Ge reached the realm of Enlightenment, he had a moment when he entered this state of overlooking everything.

Wu Ge understood that this was because his “vision” had suddenly been elevated in dimension.

Wu Ge had left the three-dimensional space and entered the four-dimensional space, surrounded by various bright lights and countless strange objects he had never seen before.

In that moment, Wu Ge suddenly understood everything. It was as if his brain had been stimulated by an electric current, and then he instantly reacted.

It turned out that the Sugro they were investigating was a four-dimensional being, and that black and white eye was just a part of this four-dimensional being’s body. They could only see part of Sugro’s body when it touched the barrier of the three-dimensional world.

The missing people or houses were not devoured but were taken by Sugro into the four-dimensional space. However, because human eyes cannot recognize four-dimensional space, it seemed as though these people and objects had just disappeared.

Wu Ge was also taken to the four-dimensional space, but he did not know where he was. He was enveloped by numerous bright lights, and he couldn’t see anything clearly. His eyes could not function normally in the four-dimensional space.

Faced with this situation, Wu Ge could only sit cross-legged, then his spirit left his body, and using his mental power, he shouted, “Who are you?”

Wu Ge’s mental power radiated out like someone shouting through a megaphone. Whatever intelligent life was around should be able to receive his mental energy message.

Sure enough, after a while, a straight line of mental energy was transmitted to him, connecting their consciousness.

The being responded, “I am a four-dimensional being trapped in this solar system.”

The information transmitted by this being was not just words but also images, videos, and its understanding of the solar system. In the heart of this four-dimensional being, the solar system was like an isolated island in the ocean.

Wu Ge immediately asked, “How long have you been trapped in this solar system?”

Wu Ge didn’t just transmit words; he also transmitted his understanding of time, telling the other party that in their understanding, one orbit of Earth around the sun equals one year.

The other being seemed to be calculating, as their concepts of time were surely different. After some calculation and conversion, the being answered, “According to your time, I have been trapped here for three million years.”

This being conveyed its understanding of time; for it, three million human years equated to seven days in its perception.

Wu Ge communicated with this four-dimensional being and discovered it was not a ferocious, uncommunicable entity. Its previous attacks on humans were due to curiosity, and it did not consider humans to be an intelligent species.

We humans pride ourselves on being great, but in the eyes of higher-dimensional life forms, we are quite naive. We build houses and alter the Earth, which in their eyes might seem like instinctive behavior, similar to ants building nests.

The four-dimensional being spoke: “Long ago, I heard that intelligent beings also exist in lower dimensions, but I did not believe it. After all, if they exist, how could they understand why planets orbit stars in a solar system? They can’t see how stars sink in four-dimensional space, nor can they see the paths along which planets orbit, and they certainly don’t understand how a solar system heads towards destruction.”

Now, with a four-dimensional perspective, Wu Ge immediately understood the meaning conveyed by the other’s mental information.

In the eyes of this four-dimensional being, the reason the sun attracts planets to orbit around it is because the sun is sinking in four-dimensional space. For example, it’s like placing several small balls on a flat sheet of paper and then placing a particularly heavy metal iron ball in the center. Because the iron ball is so heavy, it causes the paper to sag, naturally drawing the surrounding planets towards it.

Moreover, this metal iron ball is continuously rotating, and because its rotation drives the paper’s rotation, the surrounding small balls also continue to spin.

This is the reason for the planets orbiting the stars and the existence of gravity, as observed from the four-dimensional space perspective. Of course, this answer is derived from the perspective of four-dimensional space; the answer might be different from a five-dimensional perspective.

All physical knowledge has its applicable scope. Newton’s laws and Einstein’s theory of relativity each have their own scopes of application, and beyond those, they no longer apply.

However, viewing lower dimensions from higher dimensions can provide a clearer understanding of the essence of things. Wu Ge found conversing with this four-dimensional being very interesting and extremely enlightening. He began to try to persuade the four-dimensional being to assist them in scientific research.

Although this four-dimensional being was happy to have finally found someone to communicate with after being trapped for three hundred years, it didn’t have much time left. The four-dimensional being said: “I’m sorry, I have killed many of your people, and I cannot help you in the future because I am about to die.”

This four-dimensional being was about to die; it had been trapped in the solar system for nearly three million years. During this time, it couldn’t find any food to replenish its energy, and its body was increasingly weakening. Now it lay in some four-dimensional space within the solar system. It could only manage to move its fingers to bring Wu Ge into the four-dimensional space and communicate with him; beyond that, it was incapable of anything else.

The law of conservation of energy also applies in four-dimensional space. Even for a being like Wu Ge, who does not age or die, it’s impossible to act without eating or drinking; he must replenish his energy, even more so than ordinary people.

Not eating would lead to starvation, a universally understood concept.

The four-dimensional being was the same; it was about to starve to death.
