Chapter 66 - 4-Dimensional Being
In the eyes of this four-dimensional being, Wu Ge is the only being it can communicate with since it was trapped on a solitary island, while to Wu Ge, a living four-dimensional being is an inexhaustible treasure.
Thus, Wu Ge asked, “What kind of food do you need? We can help you.”
The four-dimensional being replied, “This barren solar system has no food that I can consume.”
The four-dimensional being sent a mental message explaining that vegetables, fruits, meat, water, heat, and electric energy are not its sources of food; it consumes a type of object that only exists in the four-dimensional world, and only by consuming such objects can it replenish its energy.
However, this solar system was like a desolate island in the sea, with only rocks, where a person trapped in such a place could only wait for death, as eating rocks certainly cannot satisfy hunger.
Wu Ge truly felt it was a pity, such a treasure before him, yet it could not be utilized because it was about to die. If it survived, it could have assisted Xiao Luo in conducting many experiments on gravity and electromagnetism, possibly leading them to master a unified formula and then to create a jump drive.
With a jump drive, they could then travel to surrounding solar systems.
However, this four-dimensional being was about to die, and although it had a four-dimensional perspective, it was obviously not some kind of college professor, so its knowledge was not necessarily very useful to Wu Ge and the others.
Yet the four-dimensional being said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were intelligent beings from a three-dimensional world, so I must have unintentionally killed many of your kind over the years. To compensate, I’ve decided to give my body to you, so you can use it for scientific research after I die.”
Wu Ge was quite surprised; this four-dimensional being was a rare good entity. Its previous unintentional killings of many humans and Earthlings was because it did not recognize that humans and Earthlings were intelligent beings, similar to how we might inadvertently step on ants.
Wu Ge asked, “You are offering your body to us, is that okay?”
It seemed that the four-dimensional being didn’t have any concepts of resting in peace; in its view, once it was dead, it was dead. If its remaining body could be of some use, then that might also be a good thing. Of course, even if the four-dimensional creature hadn’t said this, Wu Ge would still have used its body for scientific research anyway.
As it turned out, there was no difference in the outcome.
The four-dimensional being said, “Being able to find a being to communicate with someone before dying already satisfies me greatly. However, is there really an intelligent three-dimensional being, or am I just mentally deranged? Perhaps three-dimensional intelligent beings are just figments of my imagination.”
From here, Wu Ge could feel that the four-dimensional being’s mental disorder was worsening. It seemed truly at the end of its tether. Since Wu Ge’s brain struggled to comprehend the full appearance of the four-dimensional creature, in his mind, this creature was just a set of black and white eyes, though these eyes were just a part of the creature’s body.
This was like how our human fingers are perceived when we attempt to catch an ant; the ant might think of them as a terrifying finger monster, perhaps even considering each of the five fingers as a separate race.
The mental disorder of the four-dimensional being was becoming increasingly severe. Meanwhile, Wu Ge was searching for a way to return to the three-dimensional world. He was actually standing on the surface of this four-dimensional creature’s body, but because his eyes could not perceive the light from the four-dimensional world, Wu Ge could not see anything.
Fortunately, he could project his mental power, and based on the images produced by the mental contact with his surroundings, he could continue to move forward.
Wu Ge had been suddenly brought out of the three-dimensional world by this four-dimensional being. If he wanted to return, other than having this creature send him back, he had only to follow the creature’s other body parts back to the three-dimensional world.
Thus, he now needed to find the point of contact between this four-dimensional being and the three-dimensional world.
But this four-dimensional being was too enormous, and Wu Ge estimated it could take him hundreds of thousands of years to find this contact point, so he could only request that the four-dimensional being send him back. However, the four-dimensional being was already delirious.
It began to wail meaninglessly, its mind cluttered with incessant distractions, causing Wu Ge to see many meaningless images.
Faced with this situation, Wu Ge had no choice but to raise his Golden Essence Sword high, channeling his full mental power and the True Dragon Qi, and then he struck the four-dimensional being’s body with a slash.
The four-dimensional being shuddered as if stung by a bee. It suddenly became lucid, its random thoughts turning into meaningful mental messages. It asked, “Was it you who attacked me?”
Wu Ge inquired, “Do you have any unfulfilled wishes?”
The four-dimensional being pondered for a moment, then said, “My wish is… to go home. I want to return to my family, to have a good meal, and to sleep well. But because of my whimsy, that has become an impossible wish.”
The four-dimensional being seemed like a rebellious teenager. It had secretly run away from home and then started its journey through the stars, but an accident occurred during the voyage, and it ended up stranded in this desolate solar system.
The four-dimensional being continued, “In my youth, I always thought about adventuring alone, but only after setting out did I realize how terrifying loneliness can be. You have no one to rely on, and you must handle everything yourself. I thought all this was just a dream, but every time I wake up, what I see is this endless expanse of stars. My homeland is on the other end of a distant space, and I can no longer go back… I’m sorry, Mom!”
Wu Ge remained silent, speechless. Four-dimensional intelligent creatures are also beings; they too have emotions, fear loneliness, and miss their homeland.
Wu Ge thought of the over six billion humans who had been abducted. Were they also gazing at the stars, missing this Earth that only he was guarding?
“The three-dimensional intelligent creature, I am grateful to you. At least, I am not dying alone. In my race, dying alone is the most miserable end. Hey, three-dimensional intelligent creature, we should be considered friends, right? Hey, three-dimensional intelligent creature, are you still there?”
The mental state of the four-dimensional being began to deteriorate again, cluttered with distractions and sending out some meaningless messages.
Wu Ge responded with his mental power, “I am still here, don’t worry. You are not dying alone; I will be with you until the very end.”
But the four-dimensional being did not sense Wu Ge’s mental power. It kept asking repetitively, “Hey, are you still there? Hey, three-dimensional being, speak. Hey, what’s your name…”
Suddenly, the mental power of the four-dimensional being disappeared, and the countless distractions in its mental power exploded outward like shockwaves.
At the same time, Wu Ge felt the intense light around him start to diminish, and his body seemed to be rapidly reducing dimensions. Eventually, the intense light around him suddenly vanished, and he found himself back on the surface of the Moon.
The four-dimensional being had died. In its final moment, it had sent Wu Ge back to the three-dimensional world.
