One Piece: Signing In as a Pirate Begins with Roger's Execution

"Captain Buggy, we've been ambushed! It's the Navy! Gasparde and his Navy forces have surrounded us!"

"Dammit! Hold on! Cough, cough... I'll contact Lord Karl right away!"

Buggy gritted his teeth, ignoring the burning pain in his throat and eyes as he flew deeper into the cave. He had no choice but to endure the discomfort while dialing the Den Den Mushi to report the situation to Karl.

There was no time to worry about exposing himself. If he didn't call for help, he'd be dead!

The oxygen inside the cave was running low, and the flames were burning up what little remained, accelerating the consumption. Even the smoke from the fire could be deadly.

At this point, Buggy couldn't care less about keeping his identity hidden. Being exposed was a better fate than dying here.

"Lord Karl! Cough... help!!!"

Meanwhile, outside the island, Karl, accompanied by his 2,333 Navy men and all the Navy ships from Loguetown, had been monitoring the island from a distance.

However, when Buggy's second call came through, Karl immediately realized that Gasparde had already set a trap on the island. If Karl had come instead of Buggy, he likely would've fallen into it as well!

But unlike Buggy, Karl was not threatened by the trap Gasparde had laid.

"I understand. I'm coming to save you now!"

After hanging up, Karl's face grew serious. His Observation Haki only covered a radius of around 2 to 3 kilometers. It would take him a little while to find Buggy.

"Smoker, Belmer, stay put for now!"

"I'll go down to rescue him. Once Admiral Crete shows up, I'll signal you."

"Then we'll surround him and capture them all!"

After issuing the orders, Karl activated the Geppo (Moonwalk) and flew off!

Moments later, he spotted Navy soldiers surrounding a group of pirates below. However, these pirates were part of the treasure hunting crew Buggy had brought along!

Without hesitation, Karl unleashed his Conqueror's Haki, knocking out all of Gasparde's men.

"Everyone, follow me! Let's go rescue your Captain Buggy!"

"Understood!"

As soon as Karl gave the command, he took the lead, and over 200 men followed quickly behind him.

Soon, they reached the location of the cave.

At that moment, Gasparde and Kuro were talking. But Kuro, with his keen senses, immediately noticed Karl in the air.

He said nothing, instead guiding Gasparde deeper into the forest.

Once they had moved far enough, Karl gave the signal to his men to begin their rescue operation!

Karl quickly launched a slash, shattering the large stone blocking the entrance to the cave.

Black smoke billowed out instantly as the flames, which hadn't been that large before, suddenly flared up due to the new airflow.

Without hesitation, Karl released another slash to extinguish the fire. Once the flames were under control, the rest of his men rushed in to rescue Buggy.

Buggy, who had fainted inside the cave, was soon carried out.

Seeing that Buggy had only passed out, Karl breathed a sigh of relief before flying toward Gasparde and Kuro's location.

"Lieutenant Gasparde, what a coincidence! Didn't you say you weren't coming? Why are you here?"

Karl feigned surprise and curiously looked at Gasparde.

Gasparde awkwardly scratched his head, not expecting Karl to arrive so quickly. He hadn't even had time to retreat before being discovered.

But since it was already too late, Gasparde had no intention of leaving. Karl was here, so it was time to notify Admiral Crete to surround and kill him!

"Haha, Lord Karl, I was just worried about you, so I decided to come and check on you."

"But I've trapped all of Buggy's pirates in the cave. They won't survive for much longer!"

"There are also many of Buggy's men outside, surrounded by my troops. They won't be able to escape either!"

Gasparde confidently declared, but Karl merely said, "Oh," and then pretended not to recognize Kuro.

"Who's this? I don't think I've seen him at your base before?"

"Lord Karl, it's normal that you haven't seen him. He's a recent recruit of mine, just joined the Navy not long ago."

Gasparde answered nervously, clearly uncomfortable.

Kuro adjusted his glasses and locked eyes with Karl, silently questioning whether he should reveal his identity.

Karl shook his head, casually patting Kuro's chest, and placed a familiar Jolly Roger insignia from the Crete Pirates on Kuro's uniform.

Karl had kept the insignia as a backup, but it was now coming in handy.

"Since he's a new recruit of yours, then why does he have the Crete Pirates' insignia on his uniform, Lieutenant Gasparde?"

"Please, give me a reasonable explanation!"

Karl's eyes were sharp, and he stared intently at Gasparde, feigning surprise.

Kuro, noticing the insignia, understood Karl's plan. Without hesitation, he turned and fled!

This confirmed his identity, exposing Gasparde.

"Dammit…"

Seeing Kuro run, Gasparde's anger flared, and he nearly screamed in frustration!

"Haha, Lord Karl, you're joking! How could I have anything to do with Admiral Crete?"

"There's obviously some misunderstanding here. How about this? Let me take you to the ship, and I'll explain everything."

Saying this, Gasparde slowly approached Karl, his hidden dagger slipping from his sleeve and aiming for Karl's throat!

"Die, Navy brat!"

Gasparde suddenly lunged, trying to kill Karl.

But what he didn't know was that Karl had already seen through his every move with his Observation Haki!

Facing such a weak attack, Karl stood still, allowing the dagger to strike his neck.

"Clang!"

Gaspar D's dagger collided with Karl's neck like it was striking solid steel, failing to penetrate his skin!

"How is this possible?!"

"Are you a Devil Fruit user too?!"

Gasparde was stunned. He thought his strength was formidable, but he never expected that he wouldn't even have the ability to injure Karl!

"Devil Fruit powers? You underestimate me too much. This is just one of the Six Powers, the Iron Body, a mandatory skill for all Navy personnel!"

Upon hearing Karl's words, Gasparde immediately turned and fled!

"Monster! Anyone from the Navy Headquarters is a monster!"

Gasparde's worldview was too narrow. If he'd traveled the Grand Line like Admiral Crete, he would have realized that many in the Grand Line know the Six Powers.

"Running won't help. You'd better come with me and confess, Lieutenant Gasparde!"

"Not possible! Even if I die, I will never return with you!"

"Dual Swordsmen, get out here and deal with this brat!"
